Madhouse Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 OK boys, I have a space in my house I can covert to a hidden room. It's only 6' x 9', any thoughts on if I can make this work? Seems like it should be sufficient, I might just have to be a bit of a minimalist.
98Z5V Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 How high is the ceiling? I'm already thinking of a two-sided gun rack down the middle.
Cunuckgaucho Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 In this 6x9 space where is the door? Maybe something like this in each corner Then in the wall space in between you could place shelving unit(s) for gun related gear. For more added storage build 24x24 cabinet to place under unit, height determined by ceiling height.

Murphy door into it from either the hallway or the home office, or a (hidden) entry door from the garage.
Madhouse Posted February 6 Author Report Posted February 6 Either way, I can make the space work, better than a back bedroom closet. Here's the space:
98Z5V Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 WHOA!!! That's HUGE for a hidden-room-ish setup! Secureit gun storage. It ain't cheap, but it's the most effective system out there, bar none. https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/ Put some panels up on the walls, and you can stash a giant epic collection of guns into that space. Reconfigure anytime you want, just move mounts and holders around on the panels. WOW, brother!
Rsquared Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 I'd go with the murphy door idea along with Tom's Secureit system. Those look pretty cool. Of course, me being me, I'd take it to the next step and motorize the door.

Madhouse Posted February 7 Author Report Posted February 7 Yeah I was thinking just slat wall and hangers, since it's fully enclosed and hidden. You guys, of course, are next level. 😁

Slat wall doesn't like things that have weight to them. You'll break that aluminum track right out of the wood-ish stuff on the facing, once you hang a couple AR-10s off it. You could hang a Ford Raptor off the Secureit panels, if you mount them properly (backing material into wall studs).
98Z5V Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 I said that for a reason - knew it would get your attention...
sketch Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 I herd raptor and hidden gun room! Modular Wall Mount Gun Racks, Gun Cabinets & Gun Walls - Gallow Technologies https://share.google/fj9ksjcU4FENgGrfk is another wall mounting system.
Madhouse Posted February 8 Author Report Posted February 8 I've also looked at Savior equipment. https://a.co/d/05CCpxJi

Camotruck Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 0507241804.mp4 Here's a guy who set one up. 14'x7'. Two walk in closets that were back to back. He tore down the wall between them making it one room. Did some electrical work, flooring etc. Put in military lockers with the secureit wall panels mounted inside the lockers.

Madhouse Posted February 15 Author Report Posted February 15 😁 Need for lockers inside a room that's not normally seen or known about? Always a good idea I guess.

They're not perfect, but for a small space i can stack them and get more into that small space with some security. Gun Safes would be too bulky and restrictive on my available space. I would recommend a steel security door and frame if you just mount on the walls directly. A plain one that looks like any other door in the house.
Camotruck Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 A lot depends on if you have more long guns or pistols when it comes to selecting the size lockers you need. Secureit makes 7' lockers but they're very expensive but they provide the best number of configurations to accommodate long and short together.

Rsquared Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 Expensive is a very "relative" term. Especially with this crowd. Great Setup there brother.
