Microgunner Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 When I used to live in Chistochina Alaska I watched these bush planes do this everyday.I was never ceased to be amazed.Riding in these stripped down Pipers will scare the hell out of you.

98Z5V Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 It's cool watching the small planes do it, but when a 130 does it, it's impressive as all hell. :o

planeflyer21 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 I wounder how many props they went through learning that landing.Guessing you mean the bushpilots. Quite a few. Alaska has the highest number of airplane crashes of all the states and little surprise. Those dudes have some great stories of innovative thinking!Jon

seasprite Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 There goes my rating down the hole! Jon We had the Harriers on my ship when they took off it wasn't so bad but when they come in for a landing at full power even with our hearing protection those things were LOUD. On my last deployment before I separated we over due for dry dock but a little skirmish called Desert Storm broke out so when the harriers tried to take off the nonskid on the flight deck started to peel off fodding the engines, after loosing 4 engines they grounded them.
