44Dave
So I picked up the 308 version of the Samson Evolution handguard. Looks good. Can't use the standard barrel nut wrench - no holes (does not use the standard nut like the 5.56 Evolution does). It has some shallow flats on it, I'm thinking just get a socket out? Anyone else install one of these yet?
FaRKle!
Flats huh? Sounds like you need a crows foot wrench to put on your torque wrench.

44Dave
Lets see if I can figure out how to post photos from my phone...
Rsquared
Yep. I'd say that a socket is the way to go. That is, unless you have a pipe wrench that can do torque settings. <laughs>
98Z5V
Socket isn't gonna work - it's going to have a barrel running through the middle of it... Crow's foot. Or, crank the thing on there with a giant crescent wrench, and not worry about torque. The range is 30~80lb/ft.
Rsquared
Yeah, I guess that whole barrel thing would kinda get in the way. Unless he has a SERIOUS deep-well socket.
44Dave
Huh, I kinda forget about that barrel thing.
44Dave
Those Crows Foot things are more expensive than I would have thought :tfg: Ebay to the rescue.
survivalshop
Strap wrench or Crescent wrench & tighten /loosen three times . Doesn't look like you have to worry about lining up the opening for the gas tube, unless the a flat has to align up .
mineralman55
I really looked hard at these, but they only work on "low" profile DPMS patterns. That didn't work for me. Maybe a high profile in the near future. Keep us posted on the build.
blue109
I tried to wait for one but they were taking too long to release.....so I had to suck it up and go PRI :) I have one on a 5.56 gun and it's really nice
44Dave
Well, ordered the barrel last night, and got a bid on ebay for the crows foot; maybe next weekend I can finish putting this thing together.
