44Dave Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 So I picked up the 308 version of the Samson Evolution handguard. Looks good. Can't use the standard barrel nut wrench - no holes (does not use the standard nut like the 5.56 Evolution does). It has some shallow flats on it, I'm thinking just get a socket out? Anyone else install one of these yet?

98Z5V Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 Socket isn't gonna work - it's going to have a barrel running through the middle of it... Crow's foot. Or, crank the thing on there with a giant crescent wrench, and not worry about torque. The range is 30~80lb/ft.

survivalshop Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Strap wrench or Crescent wrench & tighten /loosen three times . Doesn't look like you have to worry about lining up the opening for the gas tube, unless the a flat has to align up .
mineralman55 Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 I really looked hard at these, but they only work on "low" profile DPMS patterns. That didn't work for me. Maybe a high profile in the near future. Keep us posted on the build.
