98Z5V Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 Guys, got a call from Greg asking about the valuation of a piece. It's someone he's working with right now... Here's the gist of it: 1903 COlt .32 ACP, 1927 date of manufacture, fired ONE time. Condition is between 99~100%. Inherited, and history of the firearm is unknown. Is this firearm worth shooting or not shooting? Will shooting it bring the value down? So, info for Greg would be greatly appreciated. I've seen very nice ones going for $1400~$1500 - what do you guys think? Micro, weigh in here, brother! <lmao> Looking forward to input from SS and Terry, too. <thumbsup>
planeflyer21 Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Any shooting or taking it down would detract from the value…those collectors are totally anal about it. Anything goes wrong and he has a shooter. For me, everything is a shooter. Blam the crap out of it!
shibiwan Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Take a trip to Vegas and go visit the Pawn Stars guys... tell 'em you wanna sell it, and they call in their expert who values it for you, then let the pawnshop guys lawball you, disagree and walk out. Not sure about this but you might get paid for doing the TV spot. There you go. Free valuation by an expert, and you get to go to vegas too. :D Bonus - if Greg wants to sell it, everyone who watched the show knows that he has one for sale and all he needs to say on his online ad was "featured on Pawn Stars". :D :D :D Edited February 21, 2014 by shibiwan
sketch Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 I'm with Jon shooter or history! Not knowing the history but shot once? Shooter.
unforgiven Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Can also send info to G&A for eval.
texas30cal Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 If you think the "shot once" may actually be correct, find a colt expert that can give you a written evaluation and appraisal, also if it turns out to be only test fired don't shoot it anymore and get the colt letter to go with it.
