I don't think it'd be long enough to stretch across the .308 receiver.

Nope, not a chance.  Nowhere near the correct dimensions for a 308.

Not only that, the physical bolt catch on a 15 is smaller than one for a 308.  survivalshop has comparison pics on this site.

It is - slotted receiver.

Uh huh.  Aero Precision is the only ones making receivers for it, right now.  Others will probably catch on.  Even if they don't, it's an easy mod to do to your own lower.

Related question - how much more stress does that slot add to the lower receiver? Just wondering...

None.

 

EDIT - AP had information up on that when they first dropped their lower, at the beginning of the year (or was it later last year?...).  Anyway, that info isn't on their website anymore.

 

It's certainly not gonna cause an issue, when you can do this to a lower and still have it's strength...
