Stubborn bolt movement

Madhouse

Recommended Posts

So, I have a bolt that is hesitant to move in the carrier. I've determined it to be the gas rings. Once they get to the mouth it pushes in very hard. Once in, the bolt spins freely so I know that's the pinch point.

Are the gas rings possibly oversized?

Is it a new BCG? Most carriers are chrome lined, and not all chrome is created equal. The rings might have to work themselves in before they work comfortably. If you can cycle it by hand, you may have to spend some time on the couch just functioning the action a bit.

Yes & don't be shy about lubricating it .

Blue, you are a wicked man with a lurid imagination. I promise, I was only talking about a rifle.

I'm afraid I might have left a bad impression with this remark and if it was taken amiss, I apologize. It was my lurid prose in post #6 that I thought would be suggestive, I thought blue picked up on that -- I should have added a smiley, just like blue did.

Here's the smiley. :)) No offense meant, dude.
