Before you change much, lube the gun... a lot. Shoot it more to break it in. These rifles usually need more lube to start with.

As DNP said, the amount of gas going to cycle the bolt carrier is dependent on much more than where the gas port is located. Not knowing your level of firearm knowledge, this thread has a couple of videos that give detailed explanations how these firearms work and may help to understand the different parts of his post easier. I was going to order a Rock River 1911 but this was in the shop and it saved me a few hundred dollars over a base model RR.

I think I got a great deal on it, $1400. It looks close to new. There's a little holster wear on the front edges but not much else.

If you can keep your questions about your build in the same thread, it will be much easier to give appropriate answers. What receiver extension do you have? What is the interior depth? What buffer do you have currently?

Fortunately, not on their own. But they may end up sticky if you stare too long at the candy.
