The chart you referenced is the desired gas port diameter for best function. Barrel manufacturers can and do drill whatever size gas port they want. It is not standardized in the industry.
That is why he is asking what size your gas port is. It may very well be the correct size but it is an unknown unless you measure it yourself.
How much does your buffer weigh? I would be willing to bet that it is too light. As you suggested, a heavier buffer would likely help your situation. You need to rebalance your gas and recoil systems.
