  1. Sorry, I've already chosen the penance that works best for me.
  2. That's my kind of penance.
  3. I hope this doesn't get me banned from the forum. I sold a gun. I said I would never do it, but I plead extenuating circumstances. I pulled a Larry and won an AR in a raffle. It was a very basic 223 based on an Anderson lower. There's a guy at church who has been asking about buying a gun, not necessarily from me, for several months. I sold it to him for a good price and I made a little money over what I had in it. The only thing I would have used it for would have been to remake it into a Grendel pistol. But, I have much of the parts to do that already anyway. Anyway, I hope I haven't disappointed too many people and hope I can keep coming around.
  4. Do you have the upper and/or the lower receiver? Any number of parts can fit a DPMS receiver. Let us know what you have, what you are needing, and what you want your rifle to do and we can help you spend money.
  5. Pork loin was done after about 5 hours at 225-250°. I didn't take any pictures before or after slicing. The pork butt stayed on another 3 hours at 300°. Here it is after resting and then pulled.
  6. Switch back to the rifle buffer and spring for further testing. It should be a more reliable system while your issues are sorted out. The next most likely problem seen on large frame ARs is that you gas port is too small. It appears that you are not getting enough gas to operate the rifle. Since you had more luck with the standard gas block, put it back on. While it is off, measure your gas port. Numbered drill bits is the easiest way to figure out the size.
  7. Ooooo...pretty
  8. Smoking a pork butt for pulled pork for us and a pork loin for the church pot luck tomorrow.
  9. What he said^^^ Now that you built her a rifle, when do you start yours?
  10. We will have to buy a few cans of that to throw in, I mean on, the fire at the next shoot. That is assuming you show up to this one.
  11. It sounds like your gas tube is too long. What length is the gas system? Rifle? Carbine? Intermediate? Do you have a link to the barrel? Also, can you take a picture of where the gas tube ends in the upper? Take the picture up through the magwell with the gas block and tube in place but without the BCG. It should look something like this...
  12. How many rounds did you fire through it? Sometimes these rifles need to break in to function correctly. What type(s) of ammo were you using? Quality ammo is recommended in the beginning. Weaker loads may not function well in a new rifle. How much lube did you use? Most need lots of lube during the break in process. I would doubt if the rifle buffer tube is incorrect. The spring could be an issue but not the first thing I would change. If your buffer is truly 5.3 inches long, It is 0.1 inch too long and you may need to shave off a little. Will your bolt hold open if you manually charge it with an empty mag? The more likely reason is that your gas port is too little and causing it to be undergassed. What is the diameter of the journal at the gas block... .750? @98Z5V can calculate what size the hole should be. I agree with @dpete that you should measure the current gas port to see whether it needs to change.
  13. Glad you are doing better and that your rifle functions as well.
  14. You know he's going to want an equal number of raviolis on each hot dog.
  15. Things you can say about your gun but not your wife/girlfriend.
  16. Sorry for the loss of a great friend and mentor for you.
  17. Welcome back That one might give Tacticat a run for his money.
  18. Here is a list of links to online retailers with a supply of CCI primers. https://ammoseek.com/reloading/primers/CCI There are several retailers linked. Shipping and hazmat fees will obviously apply. You should do your due diligence before ordering online. I don't believe ammoseek would knowingly link to scam sites.
  19. You can always try this. It is only in 223 (and out of stock) at the moment. You can use it with a folding pistol brace. It will fire with the brace folded or off altogether. It is also 1/3 the price. https://aimsurplus.com/products/foxtrot-mike-fm15-g2-11-5-in-223-5-56-ar-pistol
  20. Happy to help your brothers. One of us will win sometime.

  22. Soak it complete. No need to take it apart. Wipe off the bolt face before shooting.
