  1. If you know the gunsmith, maybe he could show you how it goes together. Having practical knowledge of how something works is an invaluable addition to theoretically understanding how it works.
  2. I will recommend that you start a thread dedicated to your rifle. It makes sure that we are only talking about your rifle. There will be questions about your rifle and its configuration. Not all problems that seem similar have the same correction. Please read this thread to see what kind of info will be asked. https://forum.308ar.com/topic/19170-waterboarding/?tab=comments#comment-302006

  4. Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service.
  5. I'm sure he has a special surprise for the fall shoot. I wouldn't want to deprive him of that gift. Plus, I plan for my handguard to stay with my rifle.
  6. The only way to reasonably say yes is if it is the same manufacturer of all of the parts, I.e... all Aero Precision uppers and lowers. You cannot put an Armalite AR10 upper on an Aero Precision M5 lower or Palmetto State's PA10 or Rock River's LAR 8. They will not fit at all. There are some manufacturers that have been proven to interchange but that is, sadly, few and far between. As a point of fact, AR10 is an Armalite designation for their 308AR rifle.
  7. I have one of these on order. https://diamondbackfirearms.com/shop/db10-15-black-gold-series-m-lok-handguard-with-barrel-nut/
  8. He was a badass for sure.
  9. You've got 6 fingers on a hand? That's circus-freak stuff there.
  10. In addition to the questions Rex asked, will it strip a round from the magazine when manually cycling the rifle? What lower parts kit did you use? Most specifically, put up the weight of your buffer. It is likely 3.6 ounces or so and will likely need to be heavier. This is a great thread to read to understand why buffer length and weight are important. https://forum.308ar.com/topic/16799-gas-tubes-barrel-gas-ports-and-buffer-weight/
  11. I'm sure they are steel. He jumped out of a plane for his 100th birthday...just like he did on D-Day. https://fox5sandiego.com/news/local-news/wwii-vet-parachutes-out-of-plane-to-celebrate-100th-birthday/
  12. BATF has determined these to be machine guns. Rare Breed has filed a lawsuit in response. They also still have triggers in stock for sale. https://www.ammoland.com/2021/08/atf-determines-that-the-rare-breed-frt-15-trigger-is-a-machine-gun/#axzz73fQZNjvu
  13. No one is that cool... except maybe @Magwa. He is Spock awesome.
  14. 90s misogyny at its best.
  15. Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service. What do you like to shoot and what are you building/buying?
  16. The tl/dr version of that thread: The A5 receiver extension the same size as the Armalite carbine receiver extension You will need a 3.25 inch buffer that weighs about 5.4 oz to reliably function your rifle. You can get the Armalite carbine buffer or an Armalite AR10 compatible buffer from www.heavybuffers.com. The best choices for spring will be either the Armalite AR10 spring (it uses the same spring for rifle or carbine) or the Sprinco red spring. The carbine recoil system as a whole is completely interchangeable between DPMS and Armalite based 308ARs. You just can't mix parts between the two.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Look at this thread for some information. https://forum.308ar.com/topic/21706-buffer-spring-advise/?tab=comments#comment-338701
  18. Welcome to the forum. We don't (usually) pick on spelling so have no fear. You have a great start to the forum by reading and digesting the information. Feel free to ask any questions that you have.
  19. Nice looking rifle Rene.
  20. Looks great Rene.
  21. Because I married her over 30 years ago.
  22. Good Lord! With the size of your feet, that thing must weigh 50 lbs!
  23. Thanks for the write up. Nice looking rifle. I'm sure you will get it dialed in well.
  24. Something similar to this without the dust.
