Trying to Build LR-308 A4 Classic (Clone)
ghorn replied to kishigo's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I am having the same problem with DPMS. I have a DPMS AP4 factory stock rifle and last month decided to replace the smooth free float hand guard with a picatinny style hand guard from Midwest Ind made for the DPMS AP4 308cal. The hand guard is almost 1/4 inch longer and will not fit on the rifle. Now how can that be? Midwest Ind contacted, never heard of this problem. The gunsmith working on my rifle is making a schematic of my barrel and sending it in to DPMS. If anyone else is having problems with DPMS AP4 please let me know. Will keep everyone updated. -
Tim did it again! Brass was in good condition and cleaned up very good. Thanks Tim!!

Bought Johann's rifle from him, worked with me during a problem I had with my FFL dealer. I got another FFL dealer and within a week I had my rifle. Thank you Johann, good man to work with!!!

Here is a load that I tried 4 days ago. I used a DPMS Tach 20 rifle, with a 1x10 twist. Millet 4-16x50 scope at a range of 100 yards. This is a 5 shot group using the following: Federal Brass (once fired), 147 gr pulled bullet, with CCI large rifle primers, and 35 grains of RL 15. I hope that ya'll enjoy the pic, I had fun testing my sons rifle(hehehe).

I have a question about the brass. What is PPU? Is it Privi Partizan? If so, how is the brass and is it good for reloading? Glenn

I been using the WC844 from Hi-Tech for 5.56 and that is the only powder I will use. A little dirty, but for the price I can not and will not complain about the dirty rifle. I just bought some WC 846 there also and will be reloading with that powder very soon. Will let everyone know how it works. Good shooting everyone!!

I have once fired Win, Rem, Fed. Will load all three with your recipe and let you know. Thanks again. Glenn

CavScout 62, Thank you and bless you for your service to this country. Second thank you for the info on the loads that you use. I have been looking for loads that our military is using and this info will help. I am using RL 15 for my 308 loads and now I have a great starting point. I don't have many LC brass but do have commercial brass and will try that load here soon.

Here in Missouri business's can post a no weapons allowed sticker on the doors. But if they don't see it, then how do they know you have a weapon on your person. Also several years ago there was a small push in my area of Missouri where if a business had a no weapon allowed sticker on the door then the mgr or owner was approached by those of us that carry and asked them why they have the ban for law abiding citizens but not criminals. We asked about their insurance if something would happen to us if their store was robbed and someone was shot, and would even let the mgr or owner know that if they kept the sign up then we would not shop at the store until the sign was removed. Some did not know how to answer the question. Maybe we should start this back up again, no matter what state we live in!!

Collapse of arms trade treaty talks narrowly averted
ghorn replied to imschur's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
The vote for the Small Arms Treaty is July 27, 2012 at the UN. Everyone should be contacting their Senator's in Washington and advising them not to support this treaty. There is some back door antics to this treaty that will hurt us. They may not be able to control the guns, but they can and are trying to control ammo. This treaty deals with ammo and components of ammo. Don't be fooled guys, its coming and faster than we can ever imagine in our life time. -
If your looking for A DPMS detachable handle for your LR308 I have one for sale since I am not using it.

Johann, You still have the rifle? I am thinking about it more and maybe working a deal with you.
-
Yea, that's a great price on the rifle with all the nice goodies you have on the rifle. If I had not got my DPMS A4 two months ago I would be all over this rifle. Man I am upset!!
-
Well I guess that takes care of that question. Thanks for all the info, so I will be looking into BAD ASS. I will let ya'll know how things go.
-

I need some helpful information. I have a new DPMS AP4 7.62x51 rifle. Since I shoot left handed I would like to get an ambi safety for my rifle. My question is will any ambi safety work on my AP4 or do I need to get one that is set up for the big rifle? I am new to the 308 AR rifle family, I have AR15's by this is my first big rifle so thank you all who responds to this topic and happy shooting!!

Survivalshop...I would like to know how the WC 846 is working for you. I have a place here in the St. Louis area that I can get that powder at a very good price. I have been using RL15 which I get at a good price, but the WC 846 is a little cheaper. I have a DPMS 16 in with 1x10 twist. All that I have read and seen on video is with my barrel length 155gr bullets is about the heaviest to use. Also My range max at 200 yds. So I using 40 grain RL 15 with CCI primers and rem or win brass. The rifle is new so I am using commercial ammo until its broke in good. I have a M1A and looking to use 168-175 grain bullets, which ever works best in the rifle. That weight bullets is what alot of shooters are using for that type of rifle.
