  1. If you go featureless, you do not need the lock. I recently installed a Hellfighter kit on an AR15. I initially liked the concept of the receiver being limited as it opened, but in practice, that part made it a real pain to split the halves and get at the bolt and buffer. Not impossible, just a pain. With the Hellfighter, you lose the bolt stop and cannot lock the bolt back. Now that can be a plus, because it won’t lock back on empty. At which point you would release the bolt, split halves and then swap mags. The AR mag lock keeps the bolt stop if you want to have one. MEAN arms makes a loader you can drive rounds into the mag through the ejection port. Lots of options. Each is going to be user specific.
  2. That works. Run it wide open.
  3. Well, sight problem is solved! Some bad-ass from Wa with a killer 308 tattoo ( @sketch) sent me something really nice. I’m still blown away by the kindness and can’t thank him enough. I’ll be happy to have that sitting on top of the rifle and reminding me of you man. Thank you.
  4. Welcome from San Diego. Looks like you’ll have a nice rifle put together when you’re done. Do you have good reason to run the adjustable block? Will you be running a suppressor?
  5. I’m on pace to hit that. At 54 we should be pregnant with #5. The question is, is his wife 54 also....or did he upgrade?
  6. Very nice.
  7. Too damn old to be a new dad really.
  8. So far this morning I’ve been thrown up on and had Schit that wasn’t mine on me. Yay dads. Happy Father’s Day all. Especially those of you who have successfully raised them and released to the wild. By successful, I mean you managed to not strangle any of them to death. You are all role models and I hope to be as successful as you were!
  9. You’ve got almost 2k in lights??? I hope the diamond level comes with a secret decoder ring!
  10. You’re welcome too, but that’s a hell of a drive.
  11. Come on out and shoot it. You know where it is.
  12. Nothing to solve yet. She’s barely tested out. Before we start solving shiit, let’s see what all the issues are.
  13. I’ll have to look what the weight is. I went with the 2 tungsten 3 steel one. It’s kinda middle of the road. They have one that is 5 tungsten. This one has the short stroke spacer at the end. That may or may not be part of the issue. I need to run a bunch through it and try a few different ammos probably. Today I was shooting the aluminum cased 115gr rounds I got from Matt a couple years back.
  14. That’s a nice hat band right there.
  15. It goes bang! Bang bang click. Had 1 failure to feed in the first mag and 3-4 in the second run. I think it’ll break in eventually. This is definitely gonna be a fun gun. Sure wish I could run 30 round mags though...the fun is over way to quick with 10.
  16. Nope - I’m not asking for anything more than a 338 from that one. And maybe more when he’s fully up and running. Somebody a little closer. They used to be really close, in fact we rented the back half of our office to him...but they outgrew that rapidly and bought their own place down the road.
  17. Yeah...I’m not gonna say too much about this one. It might not happen, but I have reached out to a friend in the industry to ask for a little help with something special.
  18. Very nice. I’m torn. I really want to do something different now, but it’s so much different I almost want to build a separate rifle and only use the JP stuff from this one in the new one. I’m torn. My wife is gonna be pissed. I’ll have to order parts a little slower than I did with this run.
  19. @Dirty Steve what grip is that on your rifle?
  20. Yeah, but you know what would make it look a lot better.
  21. Sights are in the works. I mentioned earlier in the thread she’ll be @MikedaddyH style for a little bit (sans sights). The parts I’m going to order to change up everything else are gonna take a few weeks. Maybe more for one in particular. So for now, I just want it to go Bang. Bang. Bang.
  22. And I’m not posting pictures of the hack job I did on the mag. You’re more than welcome to laugh at me when you see it in person.
  23. 99% back together. Clearanced the ramp on the mag maybe a 1/16 or less and she inserts no problem. Hand cycles rounds. Torqued the barrel to 45lbs and just need to screw the wedges into the rail again. A little lube and this bitch shoots tomorrow. Anybody want to buy an Odin works upper, Taccom barrel and SLR handguard? It has a few minor scratches and it will be fired. Let’s make a deal. I’m tempted to build things a little different now. What’s another $1500?
  24. I’m not good with linking other threads, but one was recently started in the builds thread about information that would be helpful for diagnosis. Not having the rifle in our hands, we can only rely on things we’ve seen before and what we’ve been told. Getting some good info about the entire system might help expose a problem causing a problem or an area we weren’t even thinking about. Break down the basics. Buffer tube depth, spring data length number of coils, buffer length and weight. Pictures of the inside of the upper and bolt stop...etc. maybe one of the smart guys can link the water boarding thread for help.
  25. Got a glass of Maker’s and a loaded gun (or 15) waiting for his ass to get home from work. She texted 326 times in the last 30 minutes wanting to know where he was. Obviously cheating since he hasn’t responded....
