Looks like a non-secure holster -- or not?
survivalshop replied to gnatshooter's topic in Concealed Carry
Well , all I got to say is , I was shot with a 22 LR in the Abdomen at almost point blank range . it bounced around a bit before lodging in the muscle tissue of my spine , where it still resides today . The shot put me on the ground , probably because it hit my spine . felt like someone had pushed a broom handle into me , but real fast. The revolver an H&R top break , miss fired when he pointed it at my head when I was laying on the floor of the bar & all my buddies jumped him & held him for LE. They had to remove six inches of my small intestines & I was in ICU for a week . I can tell you this , I could only lay there , when he pointed the gun at my head , I was helpless to move . This happened in 1977. When they moved me to a regular bed , I was in a the room with an older fella that told me a story of how he was shot . He was going into a Bar & some people were coming out , so he held the door for them & one of the guys that was coming out put a revolver to his face & fired it . These people had just robbed the Bar. The 32 cal. bullet , hit his cheek bone & followed his skull around his head & lodged in the skin in the back of his neck , lucky guy. I just found it strange that we were in the same room & me recovering from a gunshot . <dontknow> -
The article did bring up the mental heath issue & that is the big problem & it can be seen in all the mass shootings , but what I didn't like was how he was giving his opinion of the Second Amendment & how it should be interrupted to mean . Just look who he is & that doesn't surprise me. Yes, as 98 brought up , they were all over the Domestic Violence thing & a lot of LEO's were caught in the middle at first. We just have to give some real thought on how , when & why , we are going to put someone on a list of having a mental health issue. This can be abused also .

This is troubling for LEO's & not good for the our second amendment cause. http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/fire-rescue/five-reported-dead-northeast-las-vegas-police-ambush

I found this article interesting & at the same time , right & wrong . http://finance.yahoo.com/news/gun-control-look-second-amendment-093000221.html

Need A Sling Point That clamps Onto The Buffer Tube?
survivalshop replied to jtallen83's topic in Gear & Accessories
Try one for a 12 ga. shotgun magazine , there are some that clamp on a magazine extension . I could swear I have seen one just for the receiver extension , somewhere. -
I'm not sure how that Chrono handles it ,but I have to have my screens about 10' away from the muzzle blast or I get funny readings . They must control the blast some way so it won't interfere with the readings .

Chalk up one more for the good guy - BREAKING NEWS
survivalshop replied to shibiwan's topic in Club House
They are going to say this guy is sick & thats why he left his post & why he helped the enemy , its a syndrome . This will all get blown under the carpet ,because ,no one can do a thing about it , not Congress , not the Senate, & surly not the Attorney General . The People are stuck with him till the end of his term, his people voted him in . No one has the power to do a thing about Butthead , period . There is no way in Hell the Dem's will vote for impeachment . Look who's next in line , the village idiot ! They should have never given up the right of the House & Senate to designate a special prosecutor & we need to get rid of Executive Orders, Period !!!!!! I know in my head , its saying there could be good national security issues that it would work , but they have proven to be not trustworthy with the power , so , good riddance to it , I say . -
Noob question - lower bolt catch issues
survivalshop replied to Clay_FortWorth's topic in General Discussion
First off , the pin is hardened steel , if I remember correctly & if you over tighten the set screw or securing set screw , it will force the pin into the far side of the receiver . I would install the pin & use a removable loc-tite, like the Purple or a very ,very small amount of the Blue & lightly set the set screw . Making sure the pin is supported on both ends in the receiver . As said by 98, make sure you use all 308AR receiver extension components. Make sure you don't have a AR 15 bolt catch , you need an 308AR bolt catch , below show the difference. Yours looks like the right one. Also make sure there is easy freedom of movement with the catch & its not hanging up. I have also had to make adjustments to the the Bolt catch to let it rise farther to engage the bolt . -

Got a price on a McGowen barrel in SS for $265.00 for an 18" 338 Federal. This may happen this year . Sixteen week turn around , i'll bet it will be more ,but thats better than a year turn around .

This was my first testing with 4895 & only because it was in the Nosler load data & it was in stock @ Gander,. Have not tried 4320, but its hard to compare different powders , they all have a sweet spot or two in loadings , with different bullets & primers also .
-
At least I have found loadings for the two barrels with the 175 gr. bullets . I think the WC 846 kinda stands out in both barrels , but the IMR 4895 on the # 1 target of the 20", I think , would have been great if I had put the scope back to my 100yd zero . My target was 2400 fps with the 175's , for longer range & I see that may not bee where I need to go with this bullet . Hard to say since I no longer will be going out too far with these rifles , I'll leave that up to you 'all that have long ranges out there in the Deserts , so I think there are a couple of the loads I made that will work pretty well for these barrels & at least now , I can make some loads up I know shoot pretty well & will try them next week @ 200 yards. & see how they work . I know if these were shot from a Lead Sled , they would be much better , but I like want to keep the human factor in the equation , just the way I do it . I believe the Annealing worked out pretty well , nothing scientific , but to me they seemed to work out well. I know the bullet seating felt pressure was consistent , compared to the un-Annealed brass , so I will be doing it to all my brass after a couple of re-loadings .

Well Arizona's law will not trump Federal law if the BATFE finds a Suppressor in your possession with out it being built & registered by a class II FFL manufacturer. I know it sounds good or reads good , but that law will not hold up in Federal court, but you can volunteer to be the first to try it out for us . <thumbsup>

"Going to Montana soon , going to be a dental floss tycoon ", In this case we could change the lyrics to say " going to be a bra tycoon "

You don't have to worry about speed & catching up with some one , they can't out run a bullet ! <laughs>

Its a gun range , there's supposed to be noise from a firearm going off . <dontknow>

? Some don't like the markings highlighted , its easy enough to make them so , if one wanted . I'm sure there are other reasons why SI Defense doesn't do it ( $$$ ), my Upper doesn't have them highlighted .

I used loc tite on a on Custom ( cut to my barrels outside dia. ) PRI Comp . to keep it on . Took a 0.002" shim to index to the right position & would come loose very time I took her on a range trip . Used Blue loc tite & it has been on there for years & no movement . What ever works .

DPMS GII Recon review
survivalshop replied to beachmaster's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
A lot of manufacturers are using loc tite on a lot of components , even the Carrier Key screws & not staking them. They don't want this stuff falling off on you . I use it also. Photo's ? -

It always troubles me when I hear people blow off the NRA , with out them we would be in worse shape , as far as our second Amendment rights . I don't for a minute believe Blowhard & the NRA are cohorts. If we want to keep our rights , we need to stick together & any pro Second Amendment org. should be supported as much as possible . Some of the stuff you may think you know about the NRA is probably good propaganda from the Anti's. The you hear & read on the internet is not always the truth or even part of it . A lot of you are young & have not been through what some of us older members have , I'm the NRA & will always be . -
Some Muzzle device manufacturers sell those shims & there is always a crush washer .
