  1. I remember that , but not sure where its at , it should be pinned .
  2. It is , especially for a firearm with a unique history .
  3. Hope you don't mind , I posted this in the Gas Port pinned Thread. How does the Rifle feel with the Heavier Barrel on it now ?
  4. From 98's 6.5 build , 18" SS Ballistic Advantage SPR Barrel http://ballisticadvantage.com/18-inch-65-grendel-spr-rifle-ss-premium-barrel.html 6.5 Grendel Mk 12 SPR profile, heavy stainless, rifle gas, measured out a 0.100" gas port diameter.
  5. Try it with Gloves on , they give some .
  6. They are only going to get 10K a year & out of that , some will not be deemed serviceable after inspection , so maybe a 10% lose due to not meeting the CMP STD for serviceability , they will sell like hot cakes . When I heard the 3K price , I thought the same thing , too high a price tag , but after thinking about it , it may not be so far out of line . But here is a article about what they think they will go for , hard to tell , what the CMP will ask for a one of a kind 1911 . http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/12/08/how-much-will-cmp-1911-pistols-cost/
  7. I used to Hunt in Ohio & have taken some very large Deer with a 8 " bbl. , 44 Mag Handgun at 100 yards , one shot stoning with 200 gr. JHP , I would not think twice about shooting a Deer with the 300BLK at 200 yards or even more , if I could use it up there , I would go up there for Gun season again , just to test it . I have some good sized Deer in my Back Yard , but they are like Pet's . Guys that I used to work with keep asking me to go to Georgia to Hunt with them , I may take them up on it this year , just to test these Calibers out . I dont think you guys don't give this Cartridge enough credit . You can see my Chrono. results in this BLK Section . I absolutely cant wait to try out the 25-45 Sharps ! I'm going to make them both happen this year ! I miss Hunting any way
  8. I don't totally agree with the Article , but do believe the Cartridge has its limitations ( as with any other Cartridge ) Those of you using the Heavy sub ( or close ) sonic Loads may be missing something , take for instance the Barnes 110gr. Bullet , it is a proven Hog stopper with body shots as it is with Coyote's . I would also use the 110 gr. for other light skinned north American Game ( White Tailed Deer ) also , I guess I will have to get back into hunting to test these Loads out , including another Cartridge ,the 25-45 Sharpes with a 90 gr, bullet load . Hogs won't be hard to find here in Florida .
  9. The grape vine is putting the std class of 1911's @ around $ 3K , if true , they can have them . I'm waiting for the M1 Garands & M1 Carbines from South Korea that have been blocked by the O'butthead admin.
  10. Since he wants to use an LR frame size ( who knew OA has it in a Small custom Frame ) , the Mag would be the first one to tackle . A change in the Mag's Follower would probably take care of the Taper in the Case , since the Magpul is made of Polymer , so IF there was enough material on it , it could be altered for the Cases to feed . If you just want a 22-250 in an AR , go with Olympic Arms , seems like they have it figured out .
  11. I put a roller attached to the opposite end , off to one side of center & eliminated that guide in front . I went through a couple of the Plastic Nuts & a Machinist friend made me one out of Aluminum ,which I'm still using , but it & that guide are worn pretty good . The roller in the back is similar to the new Lortones . I used a chair roller & bolted it down , I'll take a Photo to show how its set up , I just set the Drum down on the rollers & let it go .
  12. How about the link 98 posted , I thought the 22-250 would of been too long for an AR 15 , but that link shows what looks like one , ( weight of 9.9 # is definitely in the LR range )
  13. Team work I see a Lortone Tumbler .My lortone Tumbler has worked for me for around forty years , I just got a Thumblers Tumbler for Christmas & the tried & true Lortone is going into light duty dry type Tumbling only now . The TT is for my wet work . Is you guide on the Lortone with the Drum Nut & a sheet metal fork it fits in ? Or is it the newer type with a Roller guide .
  14. Those ad's show two Buffers , Carbine ( not what you need , since you have a Rifle stock system ) & LR 308 Rifle Buffer , same with the Buffer Springs , you don't want the Carbine Spring , the Buttstock std spring is the Rifle Spring length for the LR 308 . I have no issue with Slash's products , just what will happen if you spend all that $ & for some reason , because of some sort of proprietary issue with your Receiver Extension ( Buffer Tube ) about $ 25 for a Buffer & Spring , compared to how much Slash's Buffer & Spring cost . Its Your Dime . These Parts are DPMS parts & there are thousands of them working just fine . 231-000-276WB Rifle Buffer Mfr Part: F1007705 $18.90 $20.99 Add to Cart 231-000-275WB Buttstock Buffer Spring, Std Mfr Part: F1001416 $7.06 $8.99
  15. The 6.5 Creedmoor has a very pronounced case in that regard & some have had to alter the feed ramp to help them feed on some builds . It goes to show you , when you build a parts rifle , you may have to do your own R&D . I would load some 22-250 into a Lr 308 Mag type & see how they load & strip off the mag by hand & how they sit in the mag ,as has been mentioned . any looseness or pointing at an odd angle , etc . can cause feeding issues . You may also run into Buffer system issues , but a lot will not be known till you build & test . Good luck & please keep us informed .
  16. Might have saved some $$ by just getting a DPMS 308 Rifle Buffer & 308 rifle length Spring , nothing wrong with Slash's Buffers or springs , but to just try it with the Real DPMS Components , to see if it takes care of the issue . Then you can upgrade to Slash's Buffer/Spring , your call of course . https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/recoil-parts/recoil-buffers/buffers-prod42991.aspx?avs|Make_3=AR%20xzzx308 https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/recoil-parts/recoil-springs/308-ar-buffer-springs-prod42988.aspx?avs|Make_3=AR%20xzzx308
  17. I meant the stock assembly when I referred to the Stock , not the Stock itself . Its what I said in my last post , the Kit form , with Buffer, Spring & Receiver Extension . Is that clear enough for everyone now
  18. Was it a Kit like this ? https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/buffer-tube-parts/buffer-tubes/ar-308-rifle-buffer-tube-assembly-prod110083.aspx?lp_pageid=add2&crtitemid=Home_New_Products&rrec=true
  19. I was going to use a Black Rain Ordnance Hand Guard on my BR Receiver set , but think I will use one of these , they are on sale at Brownells & I wish I had some extra $$ to get one now , but my Socom M1A is taking my extra $ right now . I really like these HG's , reminds me of a JP 's HG , but Carbon Fiber . https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/forend-amp-handguard-parts/handguards-amp-rails/ar-15-lch5-handguard-carbon-fiber-free-float-prod113680.aspx?lp_pageid=add2&crtitemid=Home_New_Products&rrec=true
  20. Ya , photo's or it didn't happen She's a Keeper !
  21. I was under the impression you punched it as a Kit . Purchasing separate, thats even more of a red flag , as to the possibility of wrong mix of components .
