I see a lot of rifles with that bullet button ,that have feeding problems . Wish I knew some thing about that contraption. I guess I will have to look into it . So , my problem with my CMMG lower may be a different beast, good I'm up for the challenge . Ya never know , me finding some thing about my CMMG ,could help you with yours.

I won't tell any one its not a 5.56 . I head spaced my bbl. yesterday & its a GO , nice & tight too. I chose 1-8 ,because I may add a can to this rig, some day.

I think your spot on about the dissimilarities in manufacturing. I never thought it was a Magpul mag issue & was thinking it was in the lower ,now it may be the upper compatibility issue ,as you say. I will switch uppers next time I shoot & use my DPMS upper on the CMMG & see how that goes . I have an SI Defence upper with it now . I'm still going to measure all spec's on the lower, & upper also. Ya know if the mags work with a DPMS upper , I will have an SI Defence upper to start a new build . How do they say it , a silver lining in every thing .

Ya , right or some times with a mass produced rifle we get a sub quality one once in a while , that won't feed any ammo . They have to cover there a$$ is why that's out ,we all know that. A tight chamber is good for accuracy & most DPMS will shoot nice groups ,but every thing is a give & take kinda thing . Tight chamber /tight group ,but ammo specific. A Milspec 7.62 chamber should feed any decent quality NATO/308 ammo. I'm all for the using & buying domestic made ammo. Don't shoot reloads , awh man , I wouldn't shoot .

Purely Revolutionary... CMMG is on it.

The cam guide in the upper would probably be in the lefty opening of the ejection port. It would have to go on the opposite side. You guys are going to make me look ! -
Good video , I can see by it , that the extractor is pulling off the case before the case is fully released from the chamber . The reason the steel case fodder works is because of the stronger material (steel ) for the case . The extractor is not pulling past the soft brass . Chamber is too rough & if you polished it ,it wasn't enough. DPMS chambers are notorious for this . The over gassing is a possability & that could be handled a couple of ways , as was said , a adj. gas block or you can use a Superior shooting systems flat spring ( spring will hold case in chamber longer)and or go to one of Slashes heavy buffers. If you say the Wolf is low powered ammo & it works , one would think an over gassed rifle would not care what ammo was in there .

Are not all Bolt carriers ambidextrous ? If you put the bolt in 180 out of a righty , will in not work as a lefty ? I really never thought about it till now , ummmm. Now I have to check it out ! -
They changed the formula of the new Blue dot ,but I don't think they ever recommended it for pistol (officially)

Yes ,I use SB dies for both 308 & 223. I have since I began reloading . Some say you don't need them & maybe most of the time you don't ,but do you want to be the % of the ones that might need it & have failure to feed because of it . It is better to have & not need than to need & not have . I get the same amount of loadings as others do with just full length resizing . I don't re anneal may brass , when it starts to show signs of fatigue , It goes to the scrap box. I pick up so much new once fired range brass , I haven't bought any brass in a long time (except for my 300BLK ,you won't find it at the store or range )

These came while I was out of town, now I can check the head space of my rifle that I have been shooting for a couple of weeks . Made by Pacific Tool & Gage.

DPMS will take the mags back & fix or swap them out ,if you call them . You can sell the Pmags here if you want . I have not had a problem with Cproducts mags in ether of my 308 rifles . Holding them up & they work ? Almost sounds like the mag catch is too loose . Mine lock in OK ,but I have not yet had time to really look at why the bolt is going over with the Pmags in the CMMG lower. Going to do some measuring between the two lowers this weekend ,if I don't have to work.

IO posted this in the reloading section also. New RP ACC 300 blackout brass ,primered w/ crimp. Quite a few bent case mouths ,will have to expand the ones that are messed up . Probably from shipping & handling.

New Rem.,ACC 300BLK brass came yesterday ,primed w/ crimp. [imghttp://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp30/oldpanhead58/LH1722.jpg]http:// This is not what you want to find in your lower.

My CMMG 308 lower has had problems with the Magpul LR 308 mags since I started using them . I have no problems with DPMS or Cproducts mags at all . They function flawlessly. The Pmags have bolt over problems ,which cause the bolt carrier to half strip the round of the mag some times & its a bent cartridge every time it does it . I'm not using the Pmags in my CMMG lowered 308 any more until I find out what is going on . My DPMS lowered 308 likes any of the mags I use ,with no problems .

SWshooter Have you tried Bluedot ? I still have some of the Hercules branded stuff ,the new blue dot is loaded different . I use it in my Dan Wesson 44 mag. & have taken far too many deer with it to count . And I too have not recovered a bullet ,even when shooting 200 gr. JHP's. I'm using 18 grs.of 2400 & 240 gr. XTP in the Anaconda now , but too new of handgun to get a shot yet at a deer . Seems when I have a shot ,its at a buck & I have already filled my buck tag with the slug gun ( last deer shot with slug gun was @ 150-160 yrds.). I may have to start the hunt with a hand gun and be done with it . I also plan on taking dirty Harry out for a walk this year , maybe make it a hand gun only season like I used to . I used to hand cast a 240 gr. Keith type bullet ,but got out of lead shooting . Still have all the stuff & plenty of lead ,but just don't shoot them out of my .44's no more . I do cast some .45 's up for ACP & RN for my buddy's cowboy gun .

Sure ,but it will be a while ,I going on vac. for a week . Just to make all you snow heads jealous , I'm going across the state to Sanibel Island in the Gulf for some R&R . My brothers in-laws have a house on the beach . Oh, did I mention ,it will be in the upper 80's . <thumbsup> -
I don't generally taper crimp (or roll crimp ) at the same time as seating. .I like to feel the crimping process . I do have a taper crimp die on one station on my Dillon & I don't size & load at the same time on the Dillon . I size & deprime all my brass , then trim & clean & or swadge the primer pocket if needed than, I progressively load them . Now that I think about it ,with the dillon ,its hard to get a feel of the taper crimp or roll crimp for that matter loading progressively. So , I guess it would not matter if you seated & taper crimped at the same time . My trimmed brass are very close in length to one another so, once you set it up, it should work fine . I 'm one of those Dinosaurs that believe in a small base die .

The 1800 fps with the 175 might be done, but you are on your own there bro. I've got enough blow out primers that's telling me I've went far enough & know the limitations of my set up. I will probably not go that high weight of bullet unless I get a "can" for this rig. Which is why I'm looking at suppressor attachment muzzle devices .
-
I have been looking for one of those also ,but not thirty years , because I used to have one . Of course I was a dealer for twenty years & had them all at one point or another & that includes select fire weapons . Damn them were the days.

I can tell you this much , the WW296 & H110 do look the same & they both have the same charge weights to velocity ( by the manual ). So it may be the same powder, but as you said the lot to lot differences may be why I getting different results with hand weighed charges using the same brand brass & ,primers & bullets . I have used H110 with 44 mag, but settled on 2400 because it was more accurate in my 44 s. And yep, H110 was loaded in the .30 carbine . Never tried lilgun , yet . Be interesting to see what ACC/Remington come out with . Also be interesting what loadings your barrel manufacturer comes out with on the 180 gr. bullet .

I'm still waiting for my HeadSpace gage set, ordered it almost three weeks ago from PTG . This last loads we made up with Hornady brass ,.223 & I raised the charges to see how far I could go with this powder(s) cartridge & I found them . I'm glad I only make five test rounds of each loading ,so as not to have to pull & recharge so many bullets . 20 grs of H110 or WW 296 with a 125 gr. bullet is what I concider max load in this rifle of mine . 18 grs. of H110 or WW296 for the 150 gr. bullets, would be a max loading . My most accurate load so far ( really to early in testing to be sure ) was a 125 TNT , 20gr. WW 296 & a CCI primer , 2201 fps. Now that I know what the max loadings are ,I can play with loads & primers to see what comes out on top & go with it . I never intended this cartridge to be a tack driver , but more of a hunting rifle , but we will see once I get better optics on her .( and finish the POF lower that belongs on her ) Declaimer , these are my loads in my rifle & you should use caution & work up your loads in your configuration.

Yes ,good info . Maybe we should start measuring our lowers in the same way . Might be some interesting facts . When they stop working me seven days a week ,I'll get some extra time to do mine.
-
Maybe we should find another bolt manufacturer & see if they make there bolt the same way . I just don't use Magpuls in my CMMG lower & have stopped having problems . I noticed something the other day on a preban Olympic Arms AR15 lower I'm using for my 300BLK upper . With the Oly. lower the Pmag is difficult to insert & lock on the mag catch. I had the same problem with bolt over as my CMMG 308 . I switched to normal GI mags & she runs like a top. I do not think these manufacturers had Magpuls in mind when the designed them .The Pmag types work fine in my DPMS 308 lower & my newer AR 15's, so I don't think its not an isolated problem with the plastic mags . Hell, it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the Bolt stop to work on my CMMG lower. I also found that if you preload the 308 Pmag with twenty rounds for a week or just keep them loaded , they work most of the time in the CMMG lower. <dontknow> When I finnish this 300blk build ,I will dig deeper into the PMag 308 problems.

Well , Jgun , I don't think my 16" bbl. is going any where near 2300 fps with a 150 gr. bullet. * 19 gr. of H110 , 150 gr. sp. bullet , vol.-1974fps I got blown primers & a empty case stuck in the chamber, so I would say its too hot of a load . *18 grs. of WW 296 , 150 gr. sp, bullet , 1976 fps , Now the above load was a nice round , but I will load a little lower ,this would be max. loading in this upper . Depending on the brass , I would reduce the load 1.0 -.5 grs., good shooting round. * 21 grs. of H110 , 125 gr. TNT bullet, 2309 fps . This is a compacted powder charge & it too is too hot . * 20 gr. of WW 296 , 125 gr. TNT bullet , 2221 fps avg. -2212, This was the most accurate load of the day , even with the cheap scope . * 20 gr. H110, 125 gr. TNT bullet , 2266 fps . This is the max for this rifle set up I have , I would lower the charge , 1.0 -.5 grs. ,not a bad shooter , but did get a couple of blown primers . Didn't look at what brass yet or primer , I will . * 19gr., H 110, 125 gr. TNT, 2106 fps , ES -18 , SD -7 , Had a Rem. 7 1/2 primer & Hornady case. This was also a good shooter , not as good as the load with ww296 ,but close. This rifle has no perceived recoil at all & I don't even have a muzzle device on it yet. I wonder what it will do with the carbine spring & buffer , what will change I don't know ,but I have some good loads to play with now & know what the max is . I still want to try the 135 gr. Sierra match bullets & will next time order ,I will order some to try.
