  1. Your DD should work on the Mega, if the Mega upper is set up for a DPMS barrel nut. You can get a Fulton Armory ,SI Defence & other 308 uppers , that will work with the DPMS lower (Fulton Armory 308 uppers are DPMS ,just have the org. rail height )
  2. I can't see you in the second photo. <laughs>
  3. I see they have a 308 bolt catch on there sight @ $ 49 . Interesting . http://shop.si-defense.com/308_Stainless_Steel_Bolt_Catch_p/si%20308-bltch-lou.htm
  4. Nice . What makes it enhanced ?
  5. This may be one of the ways the BO is going to close all firearm making, to bleed us dry of our beloved toy's .The Bastiges ! Interesting ,chapter 11 & all assets sold already , wounder who's name will be on the new title .
  6. The chrome BCG by DPMS works fine . You can get them at JSE surplus a little less expensive than Fulton. JP also sells a BCG for DPMS format rifles . I also like the SI Defense products. Both JP &SID are on the big $$ side .
  7. Upper photo's & others. with bbl. With POF gen.II lower. This M16 BCG is about twenty five years young & brand new . How about the key bolts ,that's the way they were done & yes I will strake them again.
  8. Yes , I have already ordered a set (the blk. front sight was on back order also ) for the 300blk ,I'm building .
  9. Magpul has a new rear sight , you can read about it at Brownells.
  10. Nothing wrong with this ammo , my CMMG lowered build ,just doesn't like Pmags. All DPMS & Cproducts mags work just fine .
  11. I have the first issue at work & I will look for this one today .
  12. That is a nice looking hand guard & ya can't go wrong with FAL type mags , as long as its set up right for them . They are not as cheap as they were when I had FAL's. They make them in both inch & metric patterns , if that makes a difference in compatibility with your rifle.
  13. YHM makes several different hand guards , but none that I know of ,for any 308 . Fulton Armory has one made by YHM that fits DPMS format barrel nuts (Imschur & I know all about them ) You will have to find out ,as said, what format your upper is. You may find that some of these hand guard manufacturers make theres for both DPMS & Armilite formats.
  14. Wait till you see the photo's of the NP3 POF upper . Man I did not think I would like it ,but its nice & looks cool on the black POF gen.III lower. If it only had M4 feed ramps , like the Wilson bbl. .Oh well some of that NP3 coating is going to be lost, but not much .
  15. Just tried it this morning & it worked just fine . I was doing function testing for the bolt catch & forgot I even had it in there . I had my chronograph set up but didn't do comparison testing between the two springs, but will next week. That is one long spring & I didn't think I would get the buffer in there . All ejected cases were @ about 1430 & all were in one nice pile . I went through 300 rds today & the only thing I had a problem with was an occasional failure to feed with the Pmags only . All DPMS & Cproducts mags worked flawlessly. This CMMG lower just doesn't like the Pmags .
  16. Testing was done today with three different manufacturers mags. All mags worked, with the bolt catch working on all three different manufacturers . Two Pmags, two Cproducts & two DPMS mags. I used these mags because ,they all would not work the bolt catch after last round. I will be testing new mags of each manufacturer in the coming weeks .I will be unwrapping them & testing . If I could only get Pmags to fire a complete 20 rds with out a FF , I'd be Happy with this CMMG lower , but hay ,I got the Bolt catch to work. Its a start . Rifle has no problems with DPMS or Cproducts mags.. WTF
  17. Nothing wrong with a 16" barrel , it will get out there & have good accuracy. How good is up to the shooter ,ammo & of course the barrel. As far as DI vs piston , well they both work & both have there goods & bads , that's a choice you will have to make . In the AR platform I personally prefer DI . The AR platform was designed for it from the start . No matter what they tell you , piston guns can fowl up & cause problems also. DI guns have no moving parts in the gas system , unless you concider the Bolt carrier ,part of the gas system. DI AR rifles are more accurate , piston guns getting close , but I do not think they are capable of matching AR DI rifles ..
  18. Girls & guns , OK . <thumbsup>
  19. You have to understand its just not the alignment pin or how much you would have to turn off or what shim . Its the gas port also . All have to be correct to make a barrel . You can reset the pin , weld holes & reset all, but its a big job & $$. If your barrel is not head spacing correctly , send it back to the barrel manufacturer with your bolt , some time's you can take a little off the boltface or find a burr on the extension locking lugs OR bolt locking lugs . As said above , I have not seen one with bad head space ,not that it can't happen , but all those barrels being made , are tested (head space )after assembly . Only after passing ,are the pin & gas port finished Since you are the builder , you have to check head space .For your own good.
  20. Armilite ,I think uses different lengths than a DPMS. If it reads its for Armilite, AR10 , it should work . DPMS type platforms use the same lengths & diameter as an AR 16/15, (carbine length or rifle length)
  21. Now, don't you feel better ? OK ,you fed your disease , now get back to work on your builds .
  22. The bbl. arrived & just waiting for the upper .( The camera just would not focus on the lettering ,it was on Marco setting )
  23. I looked at those barrels & only reference I read was for Armilite . I didn't see DPMS any where . It could be my old eyes. Using the FA to close the action with a head space gage in there or letting the BCG FLY under buffer spring pressure ,will most likely result in damaged components ,including the head space gage. Light finger pressure only , to test , if you need more than that ,there is something wrong. (improper head space )
  24. My second choice was AZ. ( I want to help them also, That's also why I bought a Dillon reloading machine ) It was really all about getting a POF upper to match my POF ,gen. III lower. When I saw these were for sale @ Rainer Arms , I was torn & then ripped when I ordered it . Yes, I want to do as much as I can for the home state here , but I have not seen any POF uppers for sale like this , I figured , if you snooze , you lose , type thing . If I could find a LWRC stripped upper for my other lower , I would also buy it .Just to keep them as a matched set.
  25. The springs in the photo from the POF, are both normal std. springs . If you look at the photo I posted above it , you can see the longer one is a Superior Shooting Systems (Tubbs ) flat wire spring. ( for a 308 ) I am going to try it out in morning .
