I missed this some how . "This TAR-10 is based off of a DPMS LR-308 platform. The upper and lower are made from 8620 carbon steel that has been color case hardened with the Turnbull bone charcoal process."

Why on Earth would you want one not Chromed ? Most are , but maybe any BCG that is Nitrated ( Salt bath Nitrated ) , they do have ones made of Titanium that may not be , also TIN coated may not .

Someone needs to take a Router to them nails I have always liked the Tubb's FWS , Its probably a progressive Spring , more tension as it compresses . I have not tried one in an AR 15 as of yet , but they sure work in the 308AR's .

Interesting you can use a 308 AR spring , If its a Tubb's Flat wire Spring , you cant go wrong by using one or any of his products for that matter .. Tuning the AR with different weight Buffer Springs & Buffers are the way I use to tune them , I have no Arg. Gas Blocks , except for the one that came with the Superlative Arms Piston system , it came with it . -
5.56 loads with Ramshot , Tac & X-Terminator Powders
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Reloading
I'm going to do 10 shot avg. Chrono tests , now that I have a couple loads to work off of . At the same time I will use a 1-7 & 1-8 16" bbl. rifles also to test with the 1-10 , 24" bbl.rifle , the 1-7 is a Piston system with a ported adjustable regulator , which I'm curious about its difference to the 16" DI Rifle . As far as the Heavy Bullets , that may come later, but I have a good supply of 62 & 55 gr. Bullets of all sorts to try . I have a solid Copper 55 gr. HP that is custom made , I got about 1K of them & 500 169 gr. 30 cal. from the manufacturer to test . The 30 cal. are about gone & really never found a loading that worked very will with them , but the .223 bullets have shown some good groupings in a couple loadings . Solid Copper experimental Bullets . -

I know nothing about the 9mm AR , but is there a reason a 308 Buffer spring is being used ? -
The teacher will probably have to look it up .

I really didn't know you could case harden Aluminum , but hat rifle is not my cup of tea , so to speak .

Notice how the say it or its written ," the Navy Ship Collided with ( what ever )" , not the other way around . The Navy Ship was T-Boned ! WTF But saying that , the US Navy Ship has the Best , not some of the best , but the best Equipment in the world ! Why didn't any of it work ? I want answers , I have Family in the Navy , I want to know if every one is safe , safe as should be on a US Naval Vessel .

The Range now has Fans on manual timers , covered shooting positions on concrete slabs , I pointed two fans on me ( the timer run pairs of fans ) & in was a breeze , pun intended . I'm going today to shoot some more 9mm's after the put the new lenses in my glasses . The range is on the way back home , so why not . I'm going to load the H335 @ 26.3gr. with CCI std Primers & maybe load the rest of the 87 gr. Speer's I have left with 27 gr. of H335. Through all of this I was not really concentrating on Grouping , because the two different bullets were shooting left or right & I really haven't zero'ed the scope in yet . I plan on doing it with the 90 gr. fodder , because thats the Bullet I plan on using . And I forgot my rest & bag this past shoot , dooooo !

Rifle Vs. Carbine buffer system: is one better than the other?
survivalshop replied to 1187Shooter's topic in .308AR Parts
Oh that word , I never thought I could reach that level . Thanks -
And I still play with my Torpedo Navy ships ,when I was in ,were well trained , of course we were in war time readiness , as we should be in now , but just about every ship I was on , you really get tired of drills & training , but I don't remember any ship to ship collisions . I've been saying that from the beginning , for two ships to be T-Boned , something is going on . I think they are relying on electronic equipment to cut down on Human watches & we all know how that can get you in trouble. Wait till the streets are full of self driving cars !

The Americans With No Abilities Act (ANNAA)
survivalshop replied to mineralman55's topic in Club House
The ANAA act sounds promising -
Most of the ships operating in open waters are on auto pilot , but that still is no excuse for aUS Naval vessel from not seeing & knowing al that is around them . You are right , something is going on & we are not being told , of course they wouldn't tell the public for security reasons . As I said , these ships were broad sided , almost like the US ship was aimed for . I for one can not understand how this is even possible to happen on a modern Combat ship , they may have an operational issue , but even that doesn't make sense . I'm also sure that the Ships Captain's knew full well what happened on the other collisions & should have had added watches to help with avoidance of collisions , if they didn't , they shouldn't be there !

Its great , because now I can pick a load or two & do some accuracy testing . My target Velocity was 2700 fps , so there are a few close , but I just use a target Velocity for a round about speed , I'm more looking for consistency . I added these results to the reloading section in the 24-45 Sharps .

Chrono testing from yesterday , the James Madison Tactical Trigger gave me some problems , should have kept the G2S in the rifle , will be changing it out today , I have to send the JMT back to them , they want to tune it properly . He said they had a batch that went out at first that were not calibrated correctly . BULLET/CAL. POWDER WT. PRIMER AVG. VEL. ES SD 87 gr. /25-45 H335 27.9 gr. Rem. BR 2822 43 18 Double fire 90 gr. / 25-45 H335 26.3 gr. Rem.BR 2696 26 13 90 gr. / 25-45 H335 27.0 gr. Rem. BR 2760 25 13 90 gr,/ 25-45 Xterm. 25.8 gr. Rem. BR 2638 10 5 90 gr./ 25-45 Xterm. 26.0 gr. Rem. BR 2650 41 20 Double fire If you look above at the last Chrono results , the STD CCI hit my target speed & has very good ES & SD with 26.3 H335 , which was better then the ones used with BR Primers .

5.56 loads with Ramshot , Tac & X-Terminator Powders
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Reloading
STD CCI , I think their # is 400 . That was a cold rifle , first shot group , so pretty much a fluke . Interesting avg. Vel., I don't think I have ever had some that close , even though they were the same Powder charge . I always like to see how Primers change the equation , even though its small , these were new CCI & the Remington BR were much older , 6-7 years old . -
I agree , the Ship could have gotten out of the way with no problem at all . I still I have to ask , where were the Watch , who are human eyes as a last safety shield ? The last two ships were T-boned , which kinda shows the other ship could have been aiming for it . We don't know all the info , fog or heavy rain could have been an issue . They say the ships were hacked & made all the bells & whistles useless , which comes back to the people standing watch , including the Bridge watch , WTF !

Just an update on the Rifle after changing out to a new Buffer & Spring , all brass ejected at 3 o'clock & out about 3-4 ft. , much better then dropping hot out of the Chamber on my hand . So , that shows that the Extractor & Ejector are not the only things that can effect ejection .

5.56 loads with Ramshot , Tac & X-Terminator Powders
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Reloading
Some more 5.56 Chrono results from today , I had a very strange ES &SD , we knew it had to be a fluke & I couldn't repeat it so I shot three more rounds of the same load & you can see the results below . I have found a new powder for my 5.56/.223 5.56 POWDER WT. PRIMER BULLET AVG. VEL. ES SD "" Xterm. 24.5 gr. Rem.BR 62 gr. FMJHP 3143 2 1 "" Xterm. 24.5 gr. Rem. BR 62 gr. I'm done , I'm cured , all it took was a couple of firearms & I feel so much better now . Chrono results from today ( 98 ) , only a couple , I will decide what load I will set for this rifle after I have looked at all of them. looks like H335 will be the powder , with the Terminator a close second , but that Powder looks too be my new 5.56 Powder , will see when I put it through a couple of 16" bbl's.. Temp. was 93 deg. , Humidity was around 60% , little two no wind , except for the new Fans they put at the shooting benches & I forgot my Rest & rear Bag . I'm also not sure of the Data where the Double fires happened , Trigger was not working correctly , Glad I was only loading three rounds in the mag. I'm putting the G2S back in . BULLET/CAL. Before After I like the new look , had some issues with the James Madison Tactical Trigger today .Called them up & they are sending me a return label to send it back for adj. & repair . Seems some of the first ones went out not adjusted correctly because of a out of calibration tool ,of some sort . The trigger would give double taps & the rest of the time it would not reset the Trigger or it was following the Hammer back , rifle locked back on last round every time . I'm wondering how that might have screwed up a couple of my Chrono results , I will post them any way for your viewing pleasure later .

Both shot everything I put in them , both shot to the left , but that has to be me a little & I was shooting @ 25 yards . Which do I like better , can't say if I can answer that .

I went back to a normal Coffee Maker , because the wife missed the timer for the Coffee to start in the morning , with out having to get up & plug it in & the Percolator was tripping my GFI receptacles . New Coffee load I got from them & some trinkets , already went through one bag .
