  1. I got a couple of these from the designer ( I was told ) & they are very interesting , I installed one on a stripped Lower Receiver to check it out first before I installed one on a working AR , easy install & to me easy to work with . I can see a use for this , especially with beginners . I will give a review once I take them to the range . Going to see if they fit on one of my 308AR's , one thing is , it has a nice shelf to rest your finger on & they are quick . https://rtstriggershield.com Photos are not all that great , I took them last night .
  2. Ya know what's funny , I had planed on it being done by Christmas & I just might make it . Having a year long build & have it done by my intended date , never happens with me , there is always something to screw it up , most always $$$$$. I also got the Gas Cylinder Lock & Plug installed , also I installed the Op Rod Guide on the Barrel & thought I needed to relieve the Stock , but she fits like a glove in there , a pleasant surprise . The OP Rod should be here today & hopefully the Op Rod Spring & a $1 pin for the Connector Pin was shipped last week , Tree Line uses snail mail for small parts . This is good that its done , I have a bunch or AR's waiting to build , that were set aside for this project.?
  3. The DPMS G2 is not a LR308 , the two are not compatible , that is if we are talking about the smaller frame G2 DPMS Rifle & if you are , there is not much made for that Rifle in the after market world . JP info reads this about the SCS . Not compa?ble with DPMS G2 rifles https://www.jprifles.com/document_pdfs/SCS Selection Guide_758.pdf I also don't see a noise from a properly functioning Buffer system as a problem or issue .
  4. Ya , I think they are saying the basic large frame platform is versatile & can be used in many configurations .Be it the AR10 or LR 308 in many calibers .
  5. This is not the STD Coach model , this is the Supreme Model , Nickeled , AA grade Walnut Stocks & screw in Choke Tubes , I was presently surprised at the quality of this Shotgun . I will get a good photo & post it .
  6. This from the M14 Forum, I don't know enough about this type of Upper assembly to have a conclusion . " Here's the thing: These uppers incorporate the barrel and locking lugs, as well as the magazine assembly, of the important things a receiver does, it does two out of three. Generally, two out of three gets you classed as a "receiver". FAL - barrel and locking system, and magazine. M14/M1 - barrel and locking system and half of the magazine locking system (and there is little else that could be classes as a receiver>) M16/AR15 and all their copies as well as the AR18 and its variants - magazine and fire controls Bolt actions - barrel and locking system and trigger mechanisms Pistols - trigger mechanism and magazine. Most older .22s have all three."
  7. I had zero rust on my 14 year old F 150 & it made trip up to Ohio in Dec. every year . I think I was lucky maybe .
  8. Not sure why the Bolt gun would be different than any other AR type Upper Receiver assembly , but I'm not familiar with hat action or its inner workings . Does the normal AR Fire Control Group Hammer, engage the Firing Pin ? If it does , there is no difference in components to differentiate it from a normal AR Upper . It may be as said , because its a Bolt action & not a semi auto . I see one comment made reference to it being a .50 cal. , not sure what difference that would make . If they us the same logic on that Upper assembly , why not all the AR types , I still say it must be something with importing , but I've been wrong before . The BATF/E has always had issues , political motivated depending on who's in office . This is a strange ruling , well we also have to consider the source & they have changed their rulings before , it doesn't happen too often , but its possible .
  9. A call or email to RCBS will answer your question , they are always helpful .
  10. Ordered a USGI Op Rod yesterday , so the Rifle will be complete when it arrives & ready for a Range test .
  11. Waiting for the the Lock & Plug , any day now, surprised me with the made in USA sticker from SAI . I did find one thing thats kinda a hassle , to install or remove the Gas Piston , I have to remove the Flash Suppressor , because of the shorter then std Barrel .
  12. This might help your old eyes , just not sure about your pocket book . https://www.truglo.com/firearms-tactical/tritium-fiber-optic-ar15-style-front-sight.asp?catid=85782AB719C042A394366B7DDEB2FF93 This one has different sizes , even match https://www.mountsplus.com/sightlink-ar-15-fiber-optic-sight.html
  13. I think they are tying to Import this assembly , read the first Sentence in the second paragraph of the BATF letter . Import restrictions are different , thanks to Bill Clinton & BO.
  14. or if you have a DPMS based system ,get the Proper Spring,Buffer & Receiver Extension , be it an actual DPMS one or a reputable copies. After all a correct 308LR Carbine Buffer Spring is only $ 8-9 .? Ya thats a good idea , have large frame AR Builders waiting for parts for years , because Armalite can't even keep up with what's out there now ? Which just happens to be a very small segment of the market for large frame AR Receivers & Rifles , oh & just wait till they mass produce them , I'm sure everyone will be perfect . .I believe they only Patent that Armalite holds is the type of Receivers & Bolt , there are others that make the same length Receiver Extension & they can't say they have a patent on Spring length , certainly not Heavy M16/M4/AR15 Buffers , too many make them now .
  15. Seems BATF is saying a Bolt Action AR Upper is a complete Firearm . Which reading the reg's , it kinda does fall into that classification . https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/07/30/breaking-news-atf-is-classifying-50-cal-bolt-action-ar-uppers-as-firearm/
  16. I will ? Edge is right , must be QC be it at the sub contractor or the end seller isn't . Makes it bad for builders who believe that they are getting the correct parts .
  17. Mine also , key can lock the Tumbler , which is a very good idea for security to me .
  18. I did pay $ 100 US for the ticket , so it really wasn't free , I guess .?
  19. I agree , but not the Diesel part , unless you plan on towing big. The Diesel sure has the Torque thats for sure , I had a 93 F350 Dually with a 7.3 Turbo charged Diesel & 5 speed manual tranny , man it was like a tractor , but stunk & was loud , my wife couldn't take the Diesel fumes or smell & Had issues with starting in very cold weather sometimes , went through two sets of glow plugs . Had to park near the outside maintenance shed to plug it in when at work , sometimes needing a long extension cord , because of parking .
  20. I think you need to re read your post , you stated OEM , that means original Equipment Manufacturer, you're talking about DPMS , because they are the OEM for a DPMS components . Eugene Stoner only designed the Armalite AR 10 & that's the way he designed it , not the DPMS LR 308 , DPMS designed it , two different Rifles , its said here all the time , so you can argue thats the way he designed the AR 10 & your correct , I never said he didn't , as far as bastardizing the LR 308 with AR 15 components , I suppose Mr Stoner didn't by using the M16 Buffer in the AR 10 , be it his design or not, its the same logic . I see nothing wrong with using off the shelf parts & components for weapon systems .as long as the function correctly ! My disagreement was with you & others come on as the AR 10 based Buffer system is the only way to have a Buffer system , reread your post . No argument with you about sub par non OEM Buffer Components , but your exact wording was Most OEM, go back & read it . What that reads is most DPMS Carbine Buffer Springs are junk , thats not the case & there are a lot of the after market Buffer Springs that are not to spec & those are the ones we see have issues here . The reason I even posted was that you made it sound as the AR 10 Based system is the only one that works on a 308AR & Its not the first time its been said , you can say all you want about under Recoiled , thats just opinion , show me facts & I will believe it , I don't push one system or the other , I do try to save someone some $$ by fixing a DPMS based System they already have , with miss matched or incorrect parts , not selling them a complete Armalite system , you need to go back & re read all my posts about the subject & show me where I said its the only way to go , Like this from you & you didn't specify AR 10 , it was a general comment " The recoil system was designed to be run with a 5.4oz buffer as it's primary operating weight, inside a receiver extension that's 7 5/8" long." Yes the AR 10 was designed that way , but the DPMS was NOT & I'll say it again , their are tens of thousands of DPMS Carbines running with DPMS designed components , so prove other wise that they are under recoiled . Just think of all the DPMS Based Carbine 308AR out there that don't come on a Forum with an issue because of miss matched or out of spec Parts thats something you can not argue with or show they dont work., I can say this the AR 10 system is only a fraction of what is out there based on the DPMS system & I don't say that that thats a bad system , just different .?
  21. I disagree , the Armalite Ar 10 Buffer system was designed its way & the DPMS Buffer was designed its way , they do both work , just two ways of accomplishing it . If you mean OEM Springs from DPMS are junk , you are saying that the tens of thousands that are out there working with out issue are junk , that's just an opinion , not a fact , because the facts don't prove other wise . Every time we get into Buffer System issues , you & other Armalite pushers , say thats the only way to build a Buffer system & the only one that will work , thats not a fact , only opinion . It may have been the first way of accomplishing it in a 308AR type Rifle , but when using the correct components , the DPMS Buffer system works just fine , the proof is in how many are actually working ( many many more then AR 10's I might add ), you can't blame a system by what manufacturers or suppliers submit sub par components or parts or builders using miss matched parts ( which is partly suppliers fault for not labeling them incorrectly ) Order a real DPMS Buffer Spring from DPMS or one of their authorized suppliers or Dealers & it will work .?
  22. I can tell you from experience , not every brand of Mag will fit in all brands of Receivers . I had a CMMG Billet 308AR Lower that would only work with Steel Mags or Lancer L7's , none of the New at the time ( first Gen) LR PMags would work , I would get FTF with them on a regular basis . When they came out with the Gen 3 PMags , they worked fine . Tolerance Stacking from different manufactures is what's going on . As posted from 98 above , see how they fit & they will hopefully just need some tweaking to work . The main issues with the early DPMS Mags was Feed lip issues .
  23. Nice Rifle . How long is the Buffer Spring , the Coil count is low . Should be around 11.5 " & around 29 coils , counting the two ends still make it short , if that is the way you counted .Buffer length should be 2.5" . The 7" depth is correct for a DPMS type Carbine Receiver Extension . DPMS system uses AR 15/M16/M4 Receiver Extensions for the LR 308 Ar's , both Rifle & Carbine types . Armalite AR 10's us their own proprietary Receiver Extension & Buffer Springs for their AR 10 & use AR 15/M16/M4 Buffers , usually a Heavy Buffer type Buffer. The two different systems components can not mixed .
  24. I just got a F250 Super Duty , will that work ? ?
