  1. I would say that any loaded ammo or Dummy Round will get marks on them from feeding & even more from Extracting them complete , always . The Tips are probably hitting , as you theorized , the Fat Cartridge Body & skinny Long Bullets of the 6MM family of Bullets seem like they should feed with out much trouble , but the geometry lends itself to push the Bullet tip up when feeding . Some Bullets/Brands do it & some don't . I know of some that have altered their Feed Ramp area , to help , of course do this at your own risk , because it will not take much to go too far & cause other issues . I know some that use exposed Lead tip Hunting Bullets in Semi auto feeders with no issues , AR's are a little harder on the Bullet Tip area & its why I don't use them , it only will takes one of those Tips or large enough piece to shear off & feed into the Chamber with the live round , to show its not a good idea to use them. Not to mention a piece falling into the FCG .
  2. 6.8 x 51 hybrid ? I have to look into to this one .
  3. I would replace it with another known, reputable Manufacturer . 300 rds? Its too soft , shouldn't be doing that even at 3K rds.
  4. And then we have Fed. agent in LA even better , he was selling Machine Guns ! https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-07-18/customs-agent-at-long-beach-port-admits-selling-guns-illegally
  5. That charges seem to be illegal only in Commie States like Commiefornia , they wouldn't bat an eye here , maybe the short barreled weapons would get you in trouble , but that may also have something to do with Commie laws also . I can see the ATF agents calling dib's on this or that .🤣
  6. It may also be helpful to measure the relaxed Buffer spring length & count how many coils , & we just love photo's . Good to see you here , nice Rifle .
  7. It doesn't hurt to check all mounts & Rings , light lapping will show any out of spec or alignment issues . On one piece mounts , it would or should be bored in line , but the finish applied could have high or low spots , depending on the type finish applied . Top Rings should be marked to match Base Ring & orientation ,after any lapping or alignment .
  8. I don't see any logic changing out the 7.62x51 for what its used for in Belt fed's , any more then you will see a change in calibers for the M2 50 cal. . Now the 5.56x45 , yes , I don't see an issue with swapping out barrels in M4's & SAW's . Cost , they don't care about cost , they had no problem changing out from 45 acp to 9 mm . Of course it fell right into NATO use of the 9 mm , since most NATO use the 9mm , but look how long the US had the 45 ACP as a side arm caliber , since side arms are not that big of a deal in most military's , it was a very large cost to the US , NATO didn't have to change a thing . Now changing out the 5.56 to another cal. , you will have to drag NATO in , as they did with the 7.62x 51 , though it will be a much different story now a days , but I don't see an issue with it , I'm sure they have the same issues with the Cartridge as we do . Look how many changes to the 5.56x45 rd.in the last twenty years or more & they are still trying to get the lethality of a .30 cal from that .22 cal. .They are not going to issue 7.62 x 51 Rifles to replace the M4 . In reality , there is nothing wrong with Mr..Stoner's design , changing to a 6.8 cal. ( or something like it )should not be a problem , though mag capacity & amount of ammo carried , is always an issue & may be why the military is trying so hard to wring as much lethality as they can from the 5.56 . The environmental thing with lead is another issue working against all ammo for the military , in general .
  9. Not sure if you noticed , it read 6.8 caliber , but did not give any specifics of what Cartridge, as it did with the 6.5 CM , it was mentioned specifically . You can say 6.8SPC , but it doesn't say anything about what Cartridge , except caliber of 6.8 . I would not take anything fro granted .
  10. I have been wanting to take mine to the Beach , just keep forgetting to pack it in the Truck . A lot of people lose stuff coming on the Beach from the Condo's & since we drive on the beach here , lot of stuff dropped out of Trucks ( 4x4 only now in most of the beach's here ). I have a inexpensive one the wife got me for Christmas a couple years ago . It has been great for finding bolts & such in the Grass next to my Truck .😎
  11. Not sure if this has been posted yet , but I found it interesting . https://www.shootingillustrated.com/articles/2019/6/27/pentagon-confirms-move-to-68mm-in-the-future/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=insider&utm_campaign=0719
  12. For which the M14/M1A or the AR ? My plan is to sell the M14 HG's when I can produce a HG that I find acceptable to me . The AR world ? Not sure , there is a lot of go fast goodies for them already , I have ideas , but been too busy on this project . These HG's are all hand laid up & trimmed , so no way to mass produce them , you will not see them on store shelves . The Colors that can be done , including some Camouflage patterns , are interesting & make custom applications doable .
  13. I will shortly have my next Gen. ( Gen 2 ) of Prototype CF hand Guard for testing , using a different chem.Release agent & a chemical Mold Sealer, also I fabricated a different type Mold to use & thats a job . I also went & purchased a Vacuum Chamber to evac the Air bubbles from my Epoxy before I apply it . & I also purchased an Oven for the next Gen ( gen 3 ) when I go to Pre Preg. CF Material & I'm making a CF Mold to use for the High Temp. curing of the CF . This is really cool stuff , thinking of what I can start making for the AR world next .
  14. I have seen quite a few 308 AR's with the Gas Tube positioned like that & they worked fine , but they were Carbine Gas Systems .Kinda makes you wonder what size Gas Port your Barrel has. DPMS LR 308 Gas Tube & /AR 15/16M4 Pistol 6-5/8 Carbine 9-3/4 Mid-Length 11-3/4 Rifle 15-1/4 Armalite lengths, Rifle ( 308 ) ----- 15.5 " Mid length Carbine ( 308 )--12 1/16" super SASS Carbine ( 308 )--11" Super SASS< Rife (308 ) ? Mid ,( 223 )------------------ 11 3/4" Carbine ( 223) --------------- 9 3/4 " Rifle ( 223 ) ------------------- 15 3/16" National Match--------------- ?
  15. 7mm08 shouldn't be a problem , same BCG & same Head Space Gage as a 308 win. , , same Magazines .The Barrel will only be the only one that will have less choices available . Why a 22" ? You may have to have a custom made bbl. for that length . I load 7mm08 ammo for a customer with a Rem. 700 & he love the cal. & the ammo ( 139gr. Hornady SST & IMR 4064 ). Long range is not what I call the 7mm08 , its not all that different then the 308 Win ..
  16. That sums it up . Magwa has a good idea also , what are you dope changes for shooting at those distances ? Did you shoot at 100 yard intervals to see where the Bullets grouped or hit/missed on the Target. Your Sight/Scope adj. dope for those ranges may be off .
  17. If I lived in that area , having a aftershock larger & longer then the first Tremor , I would be worried . what's will the next one be ? I can live with Hurricanes , because if I have too, I can out run them , now an Earthquake , its a sucker punch !
  18. 1-10 seems to be the go to twist rate for 30 cal Barrels( 308/30'06 )& most shoot 150 gr. ammo out of them , so it must be more to it then just twist rate, Bullet configuration may be why some shoot better then others . All Firearms will see some degradation of accuracy when Barrels is heated or over heated . You have not said how bad accuracy does get , so if your groups are only opening up a little , it's normal . Having a Match HB will show less deviation in group size .
  19. Poor Elephant 😕
  20. I believe he was elected by membership , as are all the NRA office holders .
  21. Congrats! Its hard to believe two people can stay married for that long ( right 98 😂) My Wiife & I just passed 39 years in may , so its doable , but i just dont understand where all that time went . I think the key to a long marriage is , you have your life & she has her's & you have one together . I got lucky , I can almost do what ever I want & always have.
  22. Did you change the Caliber with the new Faxon BBL. ? The Bullet sure seems like a 6.5 CM & you did say you are waiting for a 6.5 Bolt gun .
