You shooting that far in your attic ?

One other thing to think about is side focus for Parallax adj. , makes is easily adjustable .

An interesting issue turned up with the MEC Press & am pretty sure its because of the Floating Shell Holder . I haven't tested it on the Pacific Press yet ,but probably don't need to . I started seating 155 gr.SMK Bullets into the Match Brass I have sized on the MEC Press & set the RCBS Seating Die as I always did on the Pacific Press , this consisted of putting a Charged case in the Shell Holder & raising the Ram of the Press all the way up & screwing the Dis down until the Roll Crimp of the Seating Die just touches the Case Rim & backing it off a Turn , then locking it down . Well , my first seating operation of the 155 SMC , felt funny at first , checked the COL & adj. the Seating stem until I got to my desired COL & noticed a scuff on the side of the Bullet , strange , so I Seated another & felt the same strange fell on the seating of this one & a similar scuff mark on the Bullet , now I had to find out what I was feeling & why was there a scuff on the Bullet . I know this is not normal , so I disassemble the Die , all OK there , nice & clean , check the Press Ram stroke with out the Die & nothing strange in the way it feels , so now I have an idea of what it is by looking at the scuff , its not deep , just a rub mark . The only thing it can be is the Roll Crimper in the Die , so I raised the Die in the Press to make sure the Roll Crimp would make no contact the Bullet & Seated another Bullet & no scuff mark , so I did a couple more & no scuff marks on any of them . I am convinced it is the free floating Shell Holder that permitted this condition , what I believe was happening was the floating Shell holder was not perfectly aligned with the Die & the Bullet was hitting the Roll Crimper in the Die on the way up into the Seating Stem . No matter how I made sure the Case with Bullet was or looked like it was aligned , it still scuffed the Bullet until I readjusted the Die to keep it from happening. I'm going to seat some in the Pacific Press with my normal way of setting the Seating Die to see if it does the same in that press , just for curiosity sake . How this will effect the anything , I have to wait for my Concentricity Gage to show up . Three different Bullets ,

Beach , when you get older , you may change your tune about needing magnification . Its a fact of life , your eyes will deteriorate , like it or not .? As far as a Leupold near the price range of the P308 the poster is talking about , you need to show me that Scope in the Leupold line , with the same features the P308 has . Think the Leupold scopes are great Glass , but they have a price to go with it , just like all the better class Scopes out there . Saying that , you are paying for the name also .

I'm not going to mention names, but remember a Thread here somewhere that something like that was mentioned !

Looks good , but as said , if I wanted one of those Glocko's , I would buy a real one .
-
A few photo's , Clip that secured the Shell Holder in the Ram of my Pacific Press lip removed I think I can find an O-Ring of the proper size Ram with O-Ring & with Shell holder in the Ram . All I do is raise the Ram a little & pull down the O-Ring in front & slide the Shell Holder in & let go of the O-Ring . The O-ring in this Press sits in a Grove for the Clip that was removed

There has been talk that the ISIS fuk's were tipped off & were pre prepared for this raid . Makes that one thread I started on the Democommie spy's in the Gov., kinda making sense now & if someone did tip them off , he or she should die a slow death .

Pull the Pivot Pin , with both Pins removed , you should have enough room to clear the jam through the Ejection Port . It would be good to have extended Pins to grab ,in the case of a Jam . Of course this presents other issues in of its self , but anything you come up with will require a new set of drills for clearing jams . Basically disassembling the rifle to clear a double feed or non extracted spent case & a fresh round . It is not a strange thing , in the early days of combat with the M16, to have to disassemble the rifle to get it running again . All this to have a detachable magazine in a Communist state , void of the Second Amendment of our Constitution , I truly hate those people in that state & we all know whom I'm speaking of .

shortening the barrel
survivalshop replied to kayak's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I would guess the bbl. is a rifle length gas system & the bbl's. gas port may be sized for the longer barrel , but doubt it & it should shoot fine . The decision of cutting the barrel down or setting up a new one is your call , most likely much less expensive to have it shortened then purchase a new one .Companies like ADCO or someone else , just ask them to check the Gas Port in the Barrel to see if it is set up as one of theirs is for what ever barrel length you chose . -
Notice they are showing this operation without a BCG in the rifle .

This is for single stag Presses , but could be for others , including Progressives . If you read the Thread on the new MEC single stage Press I purchased , you will see something that the MEC has that most Single Stage Presses do not have & thats a floating Cartridge Shell Holder , so I had a chance to test its theory & there is some strange aspects of this design that was made apparent with sizing Cartridge Brass . Brass used was once fired various Match & Commercial from my Criterion 20" HB & LC once fired from probably a belt fed & ranged in years of 2006,2010 & 2011 . In summery , I found that the MEC & my (OLD ) Pacific single stage presses , with the same Sizing die & Shell Holder , set up the same way , with shell Holder Touching the bottom of the Die Body , came up with a average of 0.003" difference in Case sizing , with the Fixed Shell Holder on the Pacific attaching the brass longer , on average . RE-Sizing the MEC shorter stretched Brass case in the Pacific , stretched the cases that same average of 0.003" . Needless to say I found this kinda strange & remembered a thread I posted here a while back from a reloading writer & match shooter , who said if you have a Fixed or locked in shell holder on your Press , to get rid of it & use an O-Ring in place to hold it in its slot in the Ram , because he said it altered the case when sizing , well after my initial testing , he was right about it , I did another test after removing the clip that held the Shell Holder locked into my Pacific Press & the results were eye opening , not only did the cases size or stretch about the same , but re-sizing the cases from the MEC in the Pacific , there was absolutely no change in length , where there was an average of 0.003" with the locked in shell holder in the Pacific . I have ordered a Case Concentricity Gage w/ dial indicator to see if any case deformation is going on when sized with a fixed position shell Holder . My testing has just begun & will keep this Thread updated with any info & photo's . I started a dedicated thread because I think this will get a lot of info .

It can depend on the scopes adjustability & how long of range you are talking about . As shown above the 20 MOA built into the mount will give more affability at longer ranges , if needed .

Hard to say , maybe they have a proprietary gas system or measuring wrong , anyones guess when it comes to 308AR's , with so many manufacturers out there now a days .

One would think the manufacturer would contact those who have issues with this FCG , this is not the first customer that has had an issue on this Forum . Seems there is little to none in the customer support dept.. Could it be there are too little staff to handle needed support ? After reading the Threads on this FCG here on this Forum , I was hard pressed to find any bad reviews of this FCG on the net , but did notice most of the reviews were from 2015 , so did something happen with some of these FCG's in manufacturing ? I have never liked adj. FCG's for the reason that , a lot of people will mess with them & its seems to almost always come out bad , not saying the Poster here is unqualified , but sometimes things like this FCG are a little complicated in their adjustments & who knows what could have gotten out of wack by making adj. or some of these FCG's are not to spec's from a manufacturing stand point . It all comes down to Manufacturers support in this case , far too many good reviews & as said , the only reviews with issues were here on this forum. It may also be that there are not that many of these FCG's out there to have a qualifying test for their workability . I may not of found every review , but I found enough that those who have this FCG ,is happy with it . From a past experience with another major manufacturer of Triggers ( not Modular ) I can say I not only got an answer to my quarry the same day , but they offered to make the slight modification to the Hammer for free, if I set it to them . So , until a better manufacturer support for this FCG comes up for the ones here having issues , I will not touch one of these FCG's . Just my opinion & you'all know I have one

Unless you have some kind of oddball Gas Block , a std., mid length Gas Tube should work . " M " stands for their Monarch series , a big step above the " P" which is their Prostaff series & they have several grades of it , but the Monarch is their top of the line glass . While the others are good , the Monarch glass is their best & once you compare them , you will see . All will be great at 100 yards , but going past that the Monarch will show off the others . You should not worry about the warranty , they will fix anything that might come up , if it does , like I said , if you have ever shot a 12ga. slug gun , it has a more punishing recoil then a 50 cal .. I don't blame you for wanting a lifetime warranty in writing , it can only be a good thing .
