  1. I have Nikon one , I'll look at the paperwork & see what it reads .
  2. jtallen83 , any Barrel you get is suspect & not one the rest of us would necessarily get . That also may be with the Gas Block Manufacturer Spec's.
  3. Actually the venerable 30-30 is first & 30'06 is second as far as most used cartridges on game animals . maybe the 270 is third
  4. The Sinclair Concentricity Gage came to day & I went through some loaded ammo & some sized cases , just to see how this thing worked , its really a no brainer on how to use this thing . I first took a reading past the Ogive , to make sure it was not the Bullet , well hoping it wasn't anyway. I took some loaded 155 SMK ammo loaded on my Pacific Press with the fixed or locked in Shell holder & probably did a doz. rounds & came up with a reading of 0.004" run out & it wasn't't average , it was almost dead on for each round I tested . I then went to the 155SMK loaded on the MEC Press with floating Shell holder & I did about a Doz. also & came up with a run out reading of 0.002" & it also was not an average , all were at that reading , almost exactly . I found this almost unbelievable , but did too many for it not to be . I then thought , well maybe its the case , not so, the cases , all brands & Match cases , would only show a bump in the needle & I think that was caused by imperfections in the Brass . I took measurements at all places of the Brass case , Base, Neck & in between & there was almost no run out . I also took the same measurements of my hand loaded Nosler 175 Match ammo & some 155 Hornady Amax , both of these came in at around 0.0025-0.003" , all of these were loaded on the Pacific Press with the secured Shell Holder , so the Bullet may also have an effect on these measurements . The Instructions with the Gage , read , any thing over 0.003-0.004 " is an issue & should be looked into & corrected . Seems the Pacific , locked in Shell Holder loaded ammo is at the max for Run Out . Nice tool , not for everyone , but I will be using it more often & since I have a Forster Match Seating Die on the way , I can't wait to see if that makes any difference.
  5. I would say most Barrels are not made to Have the Hand Guard Cap in there , unless it has a A2 sight or the Tapered slots for the Tapered pins are there. I put every Gas Block up against the Gas Block stop or shoulder on the Barrel . Its not that much & should not matter with most well made Gas Blocks , because the Port hole in the Block is normally larger then the Barrels Gas Port , to compensate for the HG Cap not being there . One can always measure for proper Gas Port alignment .
  6. Nice , now get out there & get us a Range report .
  7. When I looked it up I didn't see a 150 gr. in the Ballistic tables , They have Metallic & standard tables , I looked in Metallic , the 150 gr. load shows up in Standard Ballistic tables , my bad . Still two different calibers & I can see in the Ballistic tables , @ 500 yards , the 7mm08 shows a better FT LB. & Velocity , but not by much & about about three inch more drop @ the 500 yards for the 308 , big deal , there is , to me , not enough to pick the 7mm08 to the 308 . Don't get me wrong , I thinks its a good caliber .
  8. Well , sok clar blur , it is a bunch less & I always thought Natchez would beat Midway any day of the week , but still has no side focus , which does add to the price of the scope Is this Leopold from the Redfield Factory ?
  9. If you are picking or comparing readily available factory ammo , you really can't compare . Two different Cartridges , no two Bullets of same weight comparisons available , so how can you compare the two . I load a 139 gr. SST for a Hunting friend of mine & I got his , 7mm-08 ,700 Rem. Bolt gun to do almost one hole groups @ 100yards & he has no problem stoning white tailed deer at any normal range. The 308 with a 150 gr. SST ,that I also I load for, does the same thing. If you are comparing down range velocities & Energy ft#'s , pick any Caliber , they are all different ,chances are , you will not find comparable Bullet weights in different calibers , so pick one that works for you , as said above , there are better long range calibers you can pop on a 308AR Lower .
  10. About $ 100 more then the M308 & without side Parallax focus https://www.natchezss.com/leupold-mar-ar-mod-1-riflescope-4-12x40mm-mil-dot-reticle.html but I also have read some are not pleased with the Leopold AR series . Some people can have issues with any thing .
  11. I have sent only one Nikon scope back & it was almost 10 yr's old , for a friend ( Buckmaster ), they replaced it with a Prostaff 5 , a higher end Prostaff , because they didn't make the New Buckmaster II's in the magnification range he had . Took about a month , easy as pie . That was a year ago , maybe two , but not long ago .
  12. The thing is , the Barrel Vice Blocks were first used in the TM for Barrel install & removal , then they were tweaking Upper Receivers using them & changed it to the Clam Shell or Receiver Block , so whats the difference between using a Barrel Vice Block set & this "Action Bar "? Answer ---- Nothing , you can still Tweak an Upper Receiver . Don't say it can't be done ! Just think for a moment on what you are tightening & into what .
  13. I have two of those Triangular Hand Guard caps , both I think are for the 0.750" Gas Block dia..
  14. I think he was referring to that gap at the Receiver end . I was just reminding him on where the Stock spacer went .
  15. I'll look for them today , I cleaned house in the Shop about two months ago & I usually never throw that kind of stuff away . As far as loading the mag , pick up a Grease gun mag loader , relatively inexpensive .
  16. It wouldn't apply any way & I'm not going to say why.
  17. If its the like the one in his photo , it looks like a Grease Gun Mag. 98 I may still have some Grease Gun mags that were altered to work in my Mac 10 , but would not function reliably because they were cut back a little too much , wouldn't effect how they are secured in your rifle . You can have them, if I still have them .
  18. I believe the same manufacturer makes these FCG's for several companies ( which Mossberg on behalf of CMC are suing for royalties ) , including MechArmor .Its nice you found a Large Pin Model .
  19. Yes , but will be quite a bit heavier. There seems to be more then one on this thread looking at the Nikon 308 scopes , they are both good choices in my book .
  20. The Spacer would go on the end ( Buttplate end ) of the Receiver Extension ( Buffer Tube ) , if its an A2 Stock , along with a longer Stock Screw then the A1 screw .
  21. I just ordered the Forster Die in 308 & some Bullets for my 300BLK .
  22. This is how my 300BLK Die looks & works , might order one in 308 .
  23. A Forster Die or any of the Match Seater dies , don't have a Crimping ring in them . I have a Forster 300 BLK Die Set & it has a plunger guide for the Cartridge & Bullet thats spring loaded & follows the case & bullet into the Die Body, keeping them in alignment , but not really needed . The Seating Die works fine now & no issues with the Bullets . This RCBS Die is well over thirty years old . I believe the new RCBS AR Die set comes with a Taper Crimp feature on the Seating Die , so it would not catch the Bullet & make a Mark or scuff . My Concentricity Gage should be here soon to see if there is any abnormal case distortion from the different Shell holder attachments . The Floating Shell holder has already proven to be easier on Sizing the Case for longer life & less Trimming .
  24. When I first became a FFL in the late seventies , they were the only Manufacturer that sold components for the AR 15 , especially free float hand guards . I have two of them , one made of Aluminum & is the Barrel nut , is on one of my first builds with their 24" Ultra Match Barrel & it still shoots great . The other FF HG I have is made of Steel & is also the barrel nut , but heavy a crap & has a flaw in the Threading somehow & when tightened , its off set or not centered around the Barrel . Doesn't effect the workability of the rifle , just looks odd when looking down from the Barrel end , so I never used it . All the ones I built back then are still working fine , because I know everyone I built one for & they would be bitching if they stopped working & are all Forged receivers , as far as I know , I don't recall seeing any cast made ones , but started using other Manufacturers Receivers later , so can't say . I started building M16 rifles soon after I became a Class Three FFL around 1978-79 , so what happened after that is what 98 may be referring to . I have two A2 Uppers in the shop & will have to dig them out for a look see & will post photo's , maybe we can see if ether is a Cast one . Their parts were top notch , it was hard to get good surplus M16 parts back then, Sarco was about the only one & had at the time only worn out crap . There was no internet back then so the Shotgun News was the only real source for anything , including information .
  25. I agree , but thats not what he wants , he is sold on the P308 & its not a bad choice , Nikon is under rated as is Burris , they both have great Glass . We all know their is better out there .
