  1. Not sure on the DPMS GII , that rifle is proprietary in many ways . Good question .
  2. Perfect !
  3. You can shoot 7.62 or 308 in your barrel , don't let all the hype get to you , it basically comes down to Pressure & that documented data is confusing to most . The two Cartridges are exactly the same , except for one thing , the 308 CAN be loaded with powders that can have a higher pressure rating according to SAMMI Spec's , that doesn't mean that are , just that they have been tested to those higher pressures . The same 7.62x51 can be loaded to the same pressure spec's , the MIlSpec Ammo is just not made to those spec's because of all the OLD converted to 7.62x51 rifles, some of these , still in use by NATO countries , have some old Barrels , so NATO had to make the Ammo to lower spec's to keep the pressure low for the old metallurgy of said converted rifles & some MachineGuns , both belt fed & Mag fed types. The difference is in the Chambers of the Barrels , the 7.62x51 Chamber is set to allow a quicker Chamber pressure drop & not because it will not take it ( as far as modern Firearms are concerned ) , but because , Combat weapons tend to get dirty in Combat & see a lot more ammo through them before a cleaning session , if at all , so there is clearance in the Chamber to keep pressures safe with a highly dirty Chamber . Do you really think that 308 ammo is loaded to the max pressure rated for the 308 SAMMI Spec's ? Absolutely no way they will load ammo to their Proof tested loadings , so the Max pressure ratings really mean nothing , because they are not loading your Wallyworld ammo any where near that proof pressure . Besides , high pressure , high velocity ammo , doesn't mean good shooting ammo , it will most likely print very badly , you will not get MOA from it . The rifle you have is notorious for cratered primers ( if its a GII ), as has been said , you will probably see different results with different ammo & different grouping results . The , what looks like a 24" bbl. will give you the highest pressure signs . Popping primers is not a good thing , but has been documented here on these rifles before . Try a different brand of ammo , match or otherwise . You can tell if its a GII by the Steel Feed Ramp insert in the Lower receiver & duel Ejectors in the Bolt , also .
  4. Damn , I get older by the minute or is it post !
  5. Who was it here that welded a bunch of the rails from a shelving unit into a HG look a like , when they first came out ? Any HG I have bought lately are M-Lok & Strike ind. makes some really nice stuff , period.
  6. -Will the BCG lock back when manually charging action with an Empty Mag ? -Was the Upper purchased as a Complete Upper assembly or was it assembled by you ? -Need Photo of gas tube protrusion into Upper Receiver . -AS said above , Buffer spring length , Coil count . -Also as said above , Buffer length & Weight . -What Brand of Mag. used ?
  7. My other Burris is a 3x9x40 , its also great glass , with their Ballistic plex reticule
  8. I have a Burris 6.5x20x50 & its some great glass . I have to see whats on my 24" HB 5.56 . let me look .
  9. I like my 20" HB , it is heavy , but shoots one hole groups with any thing I put in it . I never planed for it to be anything I want to run in the woods with , but its not as heavy as a WWII BAR & they had no problems running around in a war with a heavy rifle .
  10. Thats not a round one on that Barrel , its a Tapered A2, are you changing it ? The A1 is a flat round one , not tapered . Could have Rock set on the Pins ?
  11. Or hopefully someone will come forward with a review , I think there is a time limit on a review , before you need to worry about it . S&B makes a great scope .
  12. Many grades of SS , even in Knifes , the ones that have a higher carbon content are much easier to sharpen or some are very hard . All SS Firearms are made of different grades of SS to be able to function with out galling , which was the biggest issues with the first all SS firearms . I believe Ruger figured it out & got the right combo of SS's to get them to work reliably . My two tone XDM is supposed to have a SS slide .
  13. Just so you know , if you haven't looked ready , the M16A1 with triangular hand guards , has a round Delta Ring for the rear of the HG , not Tapered , like the A2's
  14. Nope , but will be waiting for your review .
  15. I would like to see more of the way this HG attaches & how long is it ? If its only 12" or so , the Gas Block can be installed afterwards , because the HG will not cover the Gas Block . My 20" HB ( Kreiger/Criterion Match BBL. with 0.936" GB ) has a early Fulton Armory ( I think made by JP ) on it & it is a rather large diameter , but I can take the GB off any time ,because it is outside the HG .I believe the GB has to be removed to take the HG off . Its been on there for so long , I forget . Never seen a screw on HG that would not clear a Micro Gas Block , but ya never know , all kinds out there any more .
  16. You can reinstall the Tapered Pins in the reverse , just make sure the small end goes in first from the right of the sight /rifle ( Ejection port side ) . Nothing wrong with reusing the Pins as long as they are inserted correctly . I have extras if you need them & a Triangular Hand Guard Cap .
  17. Have you had the Head Space checked ? How much Lubricant used ? As said , inspect Chamber for roughness . Cycle the well lubed action over & over again , until it loosens up . ( with out ammo ) As said , not usual for a tight chamber on a new build to be too tight to cycle properly with a loaded round used as a Dummy round. Also , as brought up , what ammo are you testing it with ?
  18. & just why would the Park rangers need such a massive ammo stash ? Well for law informant training , ohhh OK . This & all the other stashes around the country are from Berry's large ammo purchases to keep the ammo makers busy with Gov. supply to cause a shortage for the Citizens . Its troubling that the said Massive , there is something to that word , thats troubling . http://nypost.com/2017/02/10/massive-ammunition-stash-stolen-from-national-park/
  19. I don't have a large frame build going at the time , but do have a BRO 5.56 that only needs a BBL. I would like to try a little if you can . By the way 98 , I have not found those GG mags yet , I have a lot of places still left to look though .
  20. I have a Navy Air Base & Ship Base here in Jacksonville , fl. & they have had some kind of maneuvers all week long . Probably the first training they have had in eight years .
  21. That's not new , its been rubbed on bodies for years
  22. Thats my cup !
  23. And the new Lube is ?
  24. I don't see a problem !
  25. Sorry , I only use Hard Cases .
