I have two pistol caliber guns a AR15 -22lr w/the CMMG adapter and a 9mm. I purchased a RRA dedicated lower which used the colt/modified uzi mags, it runs flawlessly with good mags and round nose bullets. This is one of my favorite guns. I talked with Hahn about his mag adaptor last spring and got one then, there are three versions which hold colt/uzi mags this may be an option for you. I am slowly putting together 40 & 10mm guns but thats on the back burner for now, one lower done but i think the Lone Wolf lowers will be backordered to the end of time ! I have the blank barrels but i'm tapped out with two other builds.

New AR Project, looking for caliber suggestions.
MikedaddyH replied to Argonaut's topic in Black Rifles
Heres my opinion, the 6.8spc is a great mid caliber round. It hits harder than the 223/556 and is more availible than some of the newer hot caliber rounds. Factory ammo is going for $17 to $22 /box of 20, reloading is the way to go after you get enough brass. All of the parts are standard AR15 mil spec parts except the barrel, bolt & mag. I have four 6.8 guns , a 16" and 3- 24". They are dead on accurate. Range is 300 yards for hunting and accurate to 600 yards. If you choose this you will not be unhappy ! <thumbsup> -

Saw the CAA grip in a gun shop last month really liked the feel. Plan on putting it on my next build.

Welcome , First off determine your budget. At different price points quality changes. RR , DPMS & Bushy all make quallity products and with few changes they are all reliable. You may want to buy a basic rifle then change the pistol grip, trigger, quadrail buttstock and flash hider/comp/brake to your liking. But if your budget permits you might get a Larue or POF. All this is subjective , a lot of us on this forum build our own so we can customize them the way we want them. Example I like to start with match barrels and really dont care about the optics very much. Others on this site will make their riffle form fitting with the perfect buttstock and pistol grip. Figure out what YOU want and get those options, that is no perfect/best rifle everthing is a comprimise. If our military uses more than one type for gun, then that means there is no do all weapon just the best for a specific task. If you locked 6 of us in a room and asked us that question you would get 6 different answers or 5 dead people and one smoking hot gun. <dontknow>

Got my 27 cal barrel blank today. Its 1.25" X24" 1:11 twist 41V50 steel. Should have it done by summer. Now the weak link to this build will be the bolt. Wondering if I could just some Titanium shaving/scraps to remelt into a cast bar for that custom bolt.

LL, Throw in a box of 308 airburst rounds and we can talk. You got to be able to sweeten' the deal ! <lmao> <laughs>

Did you desided to to use the UBR because it won the drop test? That is one beast of a buttstock. Nice but heavy duty.

LL i dont see the power cord going to your 1.2 gigawatt battery pack to power the mini rail gun ! ;D

Does that mean you will sneak us in for free ! ;D

Thats pretty cool. Check out the HRP-4C , also very cool ! They have the real versions from StarWars V and Battlestar Galactica. The BigDog is about as sure footed as a drunk mountain goat , at a cost of mere millions of US taxpayer dollars.

Then we should just take a couple of calibers only.

Don't hold it against me because I've got baggage ! Yes we do need to go out soon, possibly in Marana. My nieces' husband wants to go and he is in Tucson.

It might be awhile before I buy or borrow a chrono. So the 308 results will be pending. I'll save 3 rounds at each charge weight for the test. I dont want to use my expensive 24 inch gun just incase something goes wrong. The Superformance powder worked great in the 300 wsm as far as accuracy is concerned.

I use leather shooting gloves and they are great. When I was a kid and I shot my dads 45 service 1911 my hands would get tore up or bruised, I thought the gun had too much recoil for me but years later I realized the wooden grips were POS. Well I started using them back then and have used them ever since. The padding helps on spappy/hot loads also.

muzzle device affect on accuracy
MikedaddyH replied to hobbesgunner's topic in Accurizing the .308AR
Ok and now back to the original question...I'm a big fan of the PRI brakes {have 3}. Now to stir the pot a little, Bought a Levang linear comp as an Xmas present to myself and used it yesterday. Im pleased ,it throws flames and directs the blast downstream ! I wanted a Noveske KX3 the flaming pig brake but it was never in stock when I had money. I also have been looking at the Black Hole Weaponery Dragon's Head muzzle. -
Went out yesterday and did a function test with some of the Superformance loads, one each of the light loads and they cycled using a 20" barreled gun the a rifle length gas system. <thumbsup>

Went out Monday to our spot with my nephew and his GF. Did the usual targets at 100 to 300 yards. Had a 12" x15" x 12" box at 588 yards and a 4' x 4' peice of wood at 737 yards. Highlights : 6.8 pig gun w/24" barrel hitting the box 16 of 20 times [110gr HP]. 10mm Witness 4 hits on the box out of two clips, took me 1 & a half clips to range it in [135gr P+ load]. 300wsm hit the wood 5 of 8 times. Kate 2.0[24"] 14 of 18 [168gr bthp Hornady Match]. Katrina {20"w/Iron sights} about 50% using a lot of single loads with different bullets and charges. The Superformance does cycle. I'll get into details later gotta eat. BTW all shot off hand. Kate's 17lbs , Katrina's 13 lbs and the 6.8 pig gun is 16lbs but the Win70 is less than 8lbs. Mike H

I'm down with that! I'll build the prototypes ,then we can mass produce them. Just have to buy time on my freinds' CNC machines.
