  1. I buy lots of used AR parts (and sell alot too) but only trusted name brand stuff. never off brand junk. if I'm holding a controlled explosion a few inches from my face, I'd like to know some R&D and quality materials were involved.
  2. you can replace "gas blocks" with "any gun part" and your post is better off.
  3. had some sketchy looking guy come to my door asking if my car was for sale recently. definitely put my alert level up a notch. couldn't catch his plate but I wrote down a description of him and the car he rolled up in. I have a closet where a furnace use to be. been wanting to turn it into a reinforced gun vault. wouldn't be fire proof, but my guns are on my homeowners INS. policy, and if my house Burns down I have bigger things to worry about.
  4. seems to me a bench is the one place you wouldn't need it.more useful for a long range shot in rough terrain. but for 99.9% of people, it's just a neat doodad to tell people about when posting pics of your rifle online.
  5. well, the other option isn't much better. brainwash or death.
  6. pic didn't work...I want to see that beast. may be my next order.
  7. just keep it away from the butt stroke thread...
  8. I'm saying unless you plan to shoot from the exact same position, in the exact same place, exactly relative to the shooters around you...the measurement is pointless. if you qualify the request with "from the shooters perspective" and hang the test device off of your ear, you can get some specific info. other than that, it's a wasted effort and provides no useful info.
  9. a db measurement is silly unless you are in some super hi tech lab taking samples 360x360. as we know, no muzzle device short of a NFA controlled one reduces the noise one bit. it's part of the definition. they just send it different directions. a meter sits in one spot. any numbers from such a test can be drastically different just by moving the sensor a few inches. totally pointless.
  10. when I do some butt stroking, I like it to be a surprise. I don't like to announce my intentions. (easier to get forgiveness than permission) and you can always say it was an accident. for this reason I require maximum stiffness right from the go. if you go for it, and your tool collapses a little bit, the victim has a chance to escape, and a second strike is unlikely. you really need that sniper one shot mentality for an effective butt stroke.
  11. pretty sure you could insert any manufacturers name into that thread during that time frame. at least they had the decency to tell you up front that it was going to be a LOOONG wait, and not to order if you couldn't deal with it. and yet...that thread still exists. funny to see the same people complaining about wait time and then quality control, for a product priced below average. brings an old saying to mind.
  12. hey tom...you still have a dynacomp to send them? I'd like to see it knuckle up with the BC. suppose I could pull mine off, but I need to get the scope zeroed up soon.
  13. aside from being the awesomest thread title ever...from several different angles... I think my UBR would be a pretty effective maiming device. you can even add the metal strike plate to maximize results. it blew every other stock out of the water in the drop test. nothing else was even close. it's got some heft to it, and a steel rail all the way down the middle.
  14. probably better off selling or trading for something else if you can't live with it.
  15. looks pretty solid. 4140 tends to be used on lower end barrels, but probably wouldn't matter to most shooters. certainly like to support the company.
  16. who is going to email them to point out the terminology error?
  17. RANT. why can't I mount a scope straight? this skill eludes me completely. I've used levels, strings, door frames....I swear I have it right, but when I look the next day it looks a tiny bit off. driving me insane. /RANT
  18. in this style, 10/6
  19. I'd just like to thank all of you for participating in this massive runaway thread jack. especially gnatshooter, whose angry nonsensical rant made it all possible.
  20. touche
  21. nothing fits rock river
  22. so does soap.
  23. glam metal. top 40 radio play. meh.
