If you mean the part that hugs the rear of the rcvr? There is a small gap. They made that wedge to fill it if it bothers you, but it still functions fine without it. Never bothered me.

I put a 4# Timney in my 308. It was the 5.56 version, not the 308 specific one. Worked fine on on most of my ammo until I tried some crappy 1975 Indian surplus. Stock trigger set it off fine but the Timney takes 2 tries to make it go bang. Just food for though.

Rifle length stocks are standardized. Just have to decide if you prefer A1 or A2 length, but the tube is the same. (longer A2 uses a spacer and longer screw) The commercial/milspec thing is just for carbine tubes.

Here's the sopmod The lmt and b5 may look similar, but the LMT is rock solid. It feels tighter than my magpul stocks with friction locks. Pretty darn nice. the ACS just fits me perfect though.
