Tac-beast was the same length as the dynacomp it replaces, about 2 3/8". Was a little lighter at 2.1 oz. The vids on his website look pretty impressive. Puts his recoil reduction right up there with the $200 competition brakes. He does 2 and 4 port brakes as well, but not in this configuration. Custom tapering for $10 extra on anything. Very responsive to email. Brake showed up 3 days after I sent payment.

Well that's handy.....found a .75 OD crush washer in the parts drawer. Guess I don't need to get the barrel machined right away! I'll be able to try it out before I do anything permanent. Doesn't look too bad and allowed me to clock it right. Might need a dab of something to lock it down since I wasn't able to get much torque on it.

Sounds like a sweet plan.

Muzzlebrakesandmore tac-beast came today. Said he made these specifically for the RPR and 308AR guys. .825 is the smallest OD he does for 30 cal, and it tapers to .750. Looks really nice. Going to have to pull the barrel and get it up to lance for install. Not sure if I'll black it out or leave it stainless. Looks pretty sexy as is. Price was $70 shipped.

".308AR Productions" - Muzzle Device Comparison, Planning

Nice. I actually bid on a few triads on eBay but never scored. Good thread to resurrect. My muzzlebrakesandmore beast brake just came in today and I plan on running it against a spikes and a 2 port SLR. -
https://mkmachining.com/index.php/product/index/1/0 Quick first impression on MKM 3D printed throw lever. I wanted one of these for my 1-6.5x since its the type of optic I change magnification on pretty regularly. They are adding new applications on a regular basis and I had to wait a few weeks for the Bushnell tactical model, but Price is only $15 compared to the normal $70+ of the fancy CNC ones so I jumped on it. Showed up fast, but I had an issue. I run a not so standard setup on the matrix gun. Low rings with a raised PRI top rail. My issue was that the thick lever was contacting the side of the rifle before max elevation. I emailed MKM to ask if they had any ideas. They requested a pile of pics from all angles, and a week later they sent me a custom lever that fits perfect totally free. Amazing customer service. Locks on nice and tight. Makes adjustment silky smooth. Plastic feels strong, but not brittle. Clamps together with a small hex head screw and has a threaded insert. First impression is very positive. I'll update when I get some range time. These guys also make printed rail and scope mounted bubble levels for $10, and CNC versions for more $. They are also beta testing a pretty cool looking rem 700 bullpup chassis.

Dpms uses standard AR15 buffer tubes. Just have to know if you have commercial or milspec. @Jrtmasp might want to specify what extension this fits.

I've got 3 of the KAC rear sights. Love them. Scooped them up when they were going on eBay for $30 lol. Actually I bought 6 sets and used the others for a few friends builds.

Actually plane...I did mean actual DPMS factory brand. I only ask because if it's an off brand upper, it may not exactly match DPMS HIGH or LOW. I seem to remember someone here having some boutique brand upper that was right between the two and had all kinds of issues getting a hanguard to line up. That other new member said he was buying a local built rifle that had proprietary height rail. They are rare, but they are out there. Measure to be sure before you spend more money on parts that might not fit right ( or if it's still under warranty, make them figure it out for you)
-
There are two different height top rails found on DPMS uppers. The old style (DPMS HIGH) is about 1/16" taller than the new style (DPMS LOW). troy makes handguards in both high and low. Those pics look like they stuck the high version troy rail on your low version upper, but there may be more going on there we can't see. I'm assuming this is an actual DPMS brand upper?
-
Looks like it's a DPMS HIGH freefloat rail on a DPMS LOW upper. General rule is to not bridge the upper/handguard gap with your rings even if it lines up. Definitely not going to work out with that sort of mismatch.

Strange the front won't fit. Did you try swapping them? Will the cap that doesn't fit the front fit on the rear? Will the cap that does fit the rear not fit the front? Try swapping them around like cap A on ring A and then cap A on ring B. Basicly troubleshoot it down to find the exact issue. Is it the rings? The scope? Just one of the caps?
-
Hey CO, you want the rings pushed all the way forward in the rail slots...towards the muzzle. I don't remember exactly how installed my maxima QD rings, but I followed the supplied instructions. They were pretty straightforward. I was swapping back and forth between my 1-6x and my aimpoint at 25, 50, and 100 yds and it seemed to hold zero every time. I'm comfortable recommending them.

Not many folders with elevation adjustment. KAC and Matech are the only ones that pop into my mind but I'm pretty sure there's others Wilson combat use to make one but probably be hard to find one now Spikes tactical made some, not sure if they are still around

From a defensive standpoint, 230 is still a lot of tanks as long as you are reasonably sure you can maintain air superiority. Hopefully Germany is just making some room for the leo3. That program as well as the challenger2 probably got a little kickstart when Russia dropped its new T14. It looks like a scary beast. No new tank on our horizons, but we're still the big dog, and the M1A3 SEP V3 upgrade will keep us there. I'd kill to be able to go play around with one of those. There have been videos of a 130MM smoothbore being tested. Significantly more punch, and would indicate finally moving to an autoloader.

Damage industries http://damageindustries.co Has a few good deals. Scooped up some QD sling swivels for $5 each.

I may have Been harsh with the cheap comment, Leo makes good stuff but it looks like those rings only have one bolt on each side of the cap. I like a little more clamping force to be sure. I just bought my first set of maxima QD rings and I like them a lot. think I only paid around $50 on Amazon. Something kinda silly I do because I'm picky about my scope height: I do the measurements like above, but I never really trust the raw numbers. I cut some thick cardboard or Styrofoam to the size of the rings I'm looking at and use masking tape to hold the scope down. Really allows you to get a feel for exactly how it's all going to line up.
-
Just pay attention to how the ring manufacturer measures. Most measure from the top of the rail to the scope centerline. Warne, as you pointed out, measures top of the rail to bottom of the ring.

I'm sexually aroused by that vehicle.

This is my last month on Verizon so I want to murder my unlimited data. Did over 100 gig the past two cycles lol.
-
One suggestion I can make is get your scope mount squared away. Looks to me like a cheap riser, with a set of cheap rings on top of that. Measure it out and finds some decent rings that won't need a riser. Burris XTR and Warne maxima can both be found for a decent price. You can't shoot well if your mount is flexing all over the place.

Tried a couple episodes of monkeys. I'll keep burning them for a rainy day but didn't get into it yet. Heard a lot of good things about orphan black but couldn't get into that either.
-
Good trade up. Only you can decide where the scope is comfortable man. Depends entirely on where you like to run your stock and eye relief of the optic

I Saw it in the list. I'll check it out. About half way done with season 1 of fringe. Tons of episodes!

5 seasons! Time to burn some data!
