  18. Finnally had a chance to take the wife on a little vacation.First stop Henderson,Nev. to see my bro and family.Great weather 80's.Went to the old mining town in Nelson, cool trip in the way back machine.Buffet at the Rio was the best.Cook out on his new grill, steaks and cold beer.Flight out of Midway was 40 min. late leaving.Southwest comped us 6 gin&tonics for the wife and 6 Wild Turkeys for your's truly.Got off the plane quite confused, listing to one side.Next stop was San Diego.Stayed at the Best Western on Shelter Island.Had a view of the ocean.Went to Point Loma ,stopped at Rosencrance National cemetray to give thanks to all our brothers and sisters.Went to the S.D. zoo very nice.Went to the Midway, listened to the Vets talk about different parts of the ship.Went to the MCRD San Diego to see the museam. Both guards at the gate were from Indiana. One from Franklin and the other from the family that owned "Phil Schimts" a well know family resturant in "Whiting" that was known for frog legs.Reading about the "Fighting fourth" was awesome. That was great an outstanding exibit.Tried to drive along the coast, gotta say Cali drivers suck, was cutoff cold 3 times.Driver coming from the right lane across to the left, causing me to hit the hooks.Went along La Jollia rd up to Del Mar to go on the beach. Was going to take 5 north but there was a shooting and it was a parking lot so we went back to the room.Went to Coronado Island.Had the best pizza ever at the "Coranado Brewing Co." with thier pumkin spice beer @ 8.1 alc. took a growler back to the room.Best mexican food "Albertos".Best radio station 91X out of Baja.Best seafood pricey but good "Point Loma Seafood".Met a guy in the bar at the hotel that was a neurosurgen for the DoD.He was also an Air force Vet that was shot down during the first Gulf War.I wish I had more time to talk to that man,he was very unasuming and very pro gun.The bartender the was from N.J. knew this guy for some time and I found out more about the guy in a relative short period of time the he did.Was hoping the see brothers Dirk and Tim but just not enough hours in the day.Sometime soon I hope.Caught up on the threads here, glad to be back.Sounds like everyone here is ok,glad about that.Saw the "Vincenns" and "Regan" nuclear aircraft carriers they clipped right along [with the help of some tugs] right in front of the room.Walked along the pier spoke with the people that wew fishing everyone was very pleasant. We both thanked everyone in uniform and Vets for there service and told them how proud we were of them. There were lots to thank.Nice to be home.Howdy boys.
