  1. V-ger! Jon
  2. Is that a good price for FA stuff? Are they making it or is it outsourced? Jon
  3. So many choices! Jon
  4. For close to $3k...not at all. My friend that got the Hogan .308 and I have been to the range twice this week chasing issues with it. The first session saw every shot as a FTE or FTFeed. Two different types of ammo, both were sticking in the chamber with the rims bent and bent hard. So today we met again. I forgot my tool kit (eye doc appt for the girl on the way) but had wanted it, because we couldn't get the takedown pin to budge last time. Not this time either. Got a punch from the RSO. Hit the TD pin hard. Wouldn't budge. Knocked it really fcuken hard and it started moving. The buffer and spring looked small compared to my RRA Carbine but we lubed it up. Per Hogan's instructions placed a minimal amount on the carrier area. P-P-P-POUND the damn takedown pin back in place (which moved quite freely with the upper pivoted forward), even though the holes looked to be on-center. They must be significantly undersized on the upper's lug. Tried three rounds of the DAG surplus. They fed and fired. Tried 5 more and the FTEs started again but with no damage on the rim. Tried the other brand of .308 (don't remember the brand name, gold and white box, made in Brazil). Not only FTE/FTFeed, but ripped a piece of the case head off of one case. He got it at Sportsman's, who will send it back to Hogan free of charge. Crazy. I'll keep you updated. Jon
  5. Fcukin' nazis!! Jon
  6. The Continental Divide: "Okay!?" Jon
  7. What limit? Seriously. I've not seen anything larger than 8# jugs in many years but a family friend used to buy barrels of powder. Jon
  8. I've one of the Hornady Magnum Sonic Cleaners. If the parts fit, they go in there! Being anally retentive, the parts are then rinsed in pure distilled water, and then that is blown out with air. Others say that they heat the parts to evaporate the water but I don't like using heat on heat-treated parts. Jon
  9. The other night though we went out for the girl's b-day dinner...had a "crazy daisy" burro...red chile con carne, beans, chile con queso and green chiles, wrapped in a tortilla, covered with enchilada sauce and cheese. So you don't feel too bad, it had two bites of lettuce as a garnish. texas30cal, go to your profile settings and change the time zone where the forum time stamps the messages. Jon
  10. As my kin are from Kentucky, most of my experience is with bourbon. I've experimented enough with Scots whiskey to completely understand why single malt is deemed best (difference between waking up drunk or with a pounding hangover). Jon
  11. Well sketch, I'm guessing with the bag unzipped it drops the empties right next to you? jon
  12. If ever. Jon
  13. Yup. I determined long before Obamacare that I would never hire anyone under my banner. If the workload gets to be too much assistants can fill out 1099s as independent contractors. Jon
  14. I have it on good authority that a large retailer will only be keeping a handful of full-time employees, in order to avoid paying bennies for hundreds and hundreds of people. Look at all the doctors that are retiring just to avoid the new hoops to jump through. Jon
  15. You're right, they all look cheap. But we did just get the little velcro-strap attached net bag by Caldwell. Looks like it may hold 60 or so .223 empties. I'll post a report once we test it. jon
  16. Damn straight it is!! Jon
  17. Howdy from Arizona, SteelonSteel! Jon
  18. My apologies gsmopar bro...that was geared more towards unforgiven anyway. I clean maybe every third range session...if I'm shooting a LOT. Jon
  19. Thanks 392! Jon
  20. Clean the bolt carrier? Jon
  21. D-M has F-16s now also. And also hosts the Brits and Germans with Tornados, which is WAY loud! Jon
  22. A dude told me when he was stationed in S. Korea, a squad of N. Korean special forces landed in a little plastic submarine, 6 or 8 men, apparently to test defenses and raise hell. Most were killed pretty fast but he said 2 were running around for a few days, sabotaging fuel and electrical supplies, being a general pain in the butt. The last one to go down took out 6 ROKs before they killed him. Jon
  23. Welcome from Arizona, JimmyJames8! Jon
  24. An impressive array of weapons! Jon
  25. A guy on another forum was a career NMSP. Relayed a story of one of his troopers confronting a felon on the run. Felon shot the trooper with a .444 Marlin. The bullet didn't penetrate. It forced the unbroken kevlar into the troopers chest cavity, killing him in about 10 minutes. Jon
