  4. I hope this idea spreads far and wide! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,404721,00.html Jon
  5. What about going after doctors? EVERYONE has a doctor, and they thousands of times more likely to kill you via malpractice, than someone is to shoot you. As to the AYE, I have a nickle to pitch in and get Tom some Binanca. Or a penny for some Summer's Eve. <lmao> Jon
  6. They don't have a clue brother. Lucky it made the news at all. Jon
  7. The victims that milked another shooting now speak: http://www.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archives/2012/12/16/us-rep-ron-barber-we-must-take-action-to-deal-with-the-easy-availability-of-assault-weapons-and-extended-magazines We have to push and push HARD to train and arm school staff and volunteers, no compromises. Jon
  8. I wish Feinstein would get laid already so she quits this stuff. The only single dude man enough to handle that is Tom, whom I now volunteer to do this dirty deed of oralitude. C'mon Tom! You can lick this problem for us! <thumbsup> Jon
  9. Welcome trickpony! Jon
  10. David Grossman has been part of an intense movement to help law enforcement and military personnel learn from others experience in combat, the psychological, physiological, and what happens with and without proper debriefings. I highly recommend reading anything he writes (including the link below), and any articles or books you can find by Loren Christiansen and/or Dr. Alexis Artwohl. http://www.larouchepub.com/other/2007/3417grossman_reprint.html Jon
  11. Yeah! +1 on what Mike said! Glad to have you Protondecay123! Jon
  12. Very cool! How many are you expecting for today? Jon
  13. Congrats 392! Give your son a firm handshake for me! Jon
  14. I know this is preaching to the choir, but this was a national problem in another country, which found a wholly viable solution. Please share this article with all of your shooting and non-shooting friends! http://rogersparkbench.blogspot.com/2012/12/israeli-policy-could-have-saved-lives.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+blogspot/iSmx+%28Chicago+News+Bench%29#.UMye0aVVg0F Jon
  15. My prayers go out to the families involved! Who is old enough to remember when the non-recognized PLO would send shooters into schools in Israel back in the 1980s? Their solution is the same one we need now. Jon
  16. That was very fortunate NoFail! I had a student relay a very similar story to me, but it involved a SIG 226 and insomnia. Pointed at the window, squeezed the trigger and BANG!! His wife didn't even wake up. But he told her over breakfast. ALWAYS check the chamber!! Jon
  17. All XD types are fired with the striker being released from a fully-cocked position. The action of the trigger disengages the striker-block safety, before releasing the sear/striker set. Some argue that this is single-action, as no hammer is involved. The Glocks, M&Ps, Kahr, a few others have that odd half-cocked striker system where the trigger completes the cocking cycle and releases the striker. Not a true double-action. On our 5.25 XD-m I installed a Powder River Precision trigger kit, leaving the trigger spring stock but using all other components with the kit. The striker releases now at 4-4.5#s of pressure, with almost zero takeup and the overtravel controlled by a stop, which PRP molds into the rear of the trigger. No worry of a screw loosening and making the pistol not function. A few snooty competition shooters have tried the trigger, stating it compares favorably to higher-end Kimber or Springfield Armory 1911s. Twelve thumbs up! Jon
  18. Good shooting Rene! Next time you're at the range, look right and left to see if there is a little toggle-switch there...you should be able to use it and move the target away from the front of the bench. <laughs> Jon
  19. But do you eat enough chili to make it cost effective? <laughs> Jon
  20. Makes sense for shorter range engagements, similar to the two-handed pistol grip. The pistol grip, when done properly, is amazing at directing the recoil straight back with very little muzzle rise. Try experimenting with this rifle hold and also some single-handed pistol shooting. With the pistols you will find that the firearm recoils towards the most open area of the grips, e.g., to the left when shooting right handed, or to the right when shooting left handed. You should find similar results with the rifle. Jon
  21. Physics-wise it makes sense. In application it is a bit awkward for me at this point. Jon
  22. Howdy g929! Jon
  23. Back in the late 1970s, a relative of mine was in a small room, in a small old adobe house (very stout construction), when one of about 8 people in this tiny room decided to show off their new 1911. They blasted a round off, the bullet then proceeding to ricochet at chest level for several seconds (is how it was reported), hitting all four walls, the distorted bullet making a very loud ricochet sound like in the western movies. The bullet finally stopped, eveyone covered in a fine layer of plaster-dust, and the air in the room filled with plaster-dust too. Jon
  24. Yeah shepp, no doubt. Turns out they were having the inmate on trash detail pick it up, forward it to the dealers inside and then pad his inmate account. Jon
