At the Tucson Complex, Rincon Unit, a couple of COs were sitting around one night and they heard a WHOMP on the roof of the control room. One went out the escape hatch, to find an arrow with a couple of ounces of pot wrapped tightly around the shaft, stuck in the roof. Investigation showed they'd been shooting drugs into that yard for many months. Jon

Very nice! That may well be the pattern I've been looking for...hhmmm... Jon

Wow! Some blondes really have tenacity and wherewithal! I mean, besides being a paratrooper badass, imagine the dedication it took for her to dye all her roots black. <lmao> Jon

Don't know if it is correct or not, but had read that the primary reason European and commie countries sealed the primers was to keep moisture out. That wonderful military crimped-in primer is so they don't come out. Jon

Multiple times. After entertaining her with a "That Was Good All-You-Can-Eat-Chili Last Night" fart many years ago, I said "I'm going to do that in your class tomorrow when I volunteer." <laughs> After yelling for 5 minutes to hurry up or she'll be late to school, be standing at the door in a shirt, shoes, and underwear only. Fear is the only advantage we have when they're teens. Jon

LAR Manufacturing Acquired by Remington

The 1968 Gun Control Act was supported by a lot of domestic arms manufacturers. No reason to not jack the price if people are forced to purchase firearms through a Federally licensed dealer, no longer able to order Italian surplus through the post office to your front door. Our brothers to the North can still buy imported Norinco M14s for about $800. Springfield would crap if we could get those. ;D We have a Chinese AK in 5.56 NATO. Like most AKs, dead nuts. Jon -
Someone from another forum wrote this: "Went to a good sized local gunshow and was waiting outside in line for the door/ticket takers to get moving. A guy showed up with an unusual military style rifle, carrying it by the balance point with muzzle swinging all over the crowd. Several guys winced but did nothing. I stepped over asked if I could see the rifle. I then pointed up in a safe direction and told the guy no one wanted to have the muzzle swung in his direction again. He gave me the old bit, not to worry it isn't loaded. At which point I ejected the box magazine which had live ammo in it, and opened the bolt - out popped another round. Fully loaded and off safe too. The audience around us started applauding. I roughly shoved the gun against his chest and told him it was time for him to leave - which the crowd confirmed. The key is you must act and act quickly whenever a dangerous situation arises." Jon

That guy shooting his kid has me all fucked up. Trying to sell his guns at this time, probably wanted to get gifts...or pay bills because he got gifts. Safety is everyone's business all the time, don't be offended or defensive when you get that reminder. In the spirit of "It is better to learn from someone else's mistakes", I'm going to put down my Wrong Bangs. Those of you that have had them should also, as it may help someone else NOT do it. Episode 1: I was a young adult and my room mate and his wife had been in Massachusetts, so he was totally enamored with shooting. We were in the desert shooting his .357 Blackhawk and .44 Magnum Super Blackhawk. I was shooting the .357 when he just decided to walk up and fix his target, no warning/cease fire. So I lowered the hammer and waited for gump to finish. Start again, BLAM and then click. Go back to the truck to reload and walking over was cocking the hammer and pulling the trigger when BLAM!, the round I'd not shot when he walked up got fired by me being negligent. Looking down, the dirt had a perfect .357 sized hole about 2 1/2" from my right foot. When you're done shooting, clear the weapon. Episode 2: A couple of years later, I got a screaming deal on a PT22. How cool! It has a little pop-up barrel for loading! Standing in our kitchen, I was loading and unloading it, loading, then unloading, over and over. Closed the barrel, took out the magazine, took the rounds out of the mag. Then had my girlfriend stand next to me and said "Watch this! (yeah, I know)" My intent was to show her the cute little pistol. BLAM!! right into the pantry, into a bag of lentils (the sound actually went BLAM!! ringing ears, Indian rain stick sound from the lentils falling all over the kitchen). She said "What did you do that for?" Because I was a stupid ass, squeezing the trigger on an unfamiliar firearm. Thoroughly familiarize yourself with your new firearms, learn the manual of arms, and do it at a range the first time. Episode 3: About the same period of time, we'd gone shooting and I'd just gotten done cleaning a FEG copy of a Walther PP in .380ACP. Being poor, this was my carry pistol also. Got the magazine loaded, racked one into the chamber, finger off the trigger and applied the slide-mounted hammer-block safety and BLAM!! The slow manner I had used to depress the safety failed to ensure that there was enough block in the way of the hammer, allowing the pistol to fire. Not only was the sharp corner of the slide rammed back into my hand, the dog disappeared (even though I had been careful to have it pointed in a safe direction). The dog had booked it under the waterbed, in between the underbed storage drawers. She was fine. The bullet was stopped in the brick wall of our rental. NEVER trust a mechanical safety and make sure it is used properly, ALWAYS keeping your firearm pointed in a safe direction. Options on this one are: Carry condition 3 (good), Physically block the hammer until the safety is engaged fully (better), or Charge the pistol with the safety engaged (best). Jon

That would be a suck-o-la in a firefight. Jon

<laughs> She does a thing that looks like a one-handed air-drum solo. You've just made me realize she's practicing wringing a goose's neck! <lmao> Jon

+1,000,000 on the training!!! The pervasive belief is that you learned it once, no need for training, just wait and the battle-fairy dust that was sprinkled on you will take effect. Right-hand, left-hand, standing, sitting, squatting, odd angles, set up malfunctions and clear them, run scenarios. Kudos SPBCTS on identifying that not everyone needs the same firearm in the same caliber. I've had students with rheumatoid arthritis, MS, paraplegics. Some had issues with a large 9mm semi-auto, couldn't pull the trigger on any D/A revolver, certainly couldn't do much with any center-fire of a blowback style. I've had to separate married couples in classes. Often times the wife will whisper questions to the husband, the answers for which benefit everyone, and on the range husbands have a tendency to treat wives like ignorant dipwads...not good when she's learning to shoot. For what it's worth, one woman in a wheel chair getting her CCW permit thought that since she could hide it, she may as well get a 6" barrelled revolver. <thumbsup> Jon

Tell me the where and I'll give you the when! You'd think the NSA would be tired of watching people jack it. Jon -

I believe part of that is the whoring out of production for so long to China and other sub-par locales. About the only way to succeed is to take matters into your own hands. Run your own production while carving out a niche, jealously protecting your proprietary mechanisms, and embracing improvements/advances. Jon -
Those Magpul stocks are pretty cool! Tom and FDE! More time in Panama and he'd be all OD'ed. <laughs> Jon

Everyone in US under virtual surveillance - NSA whistleblower

Ever heard of The Thing? Not the wonderful roadside freakshow near Wilcox, AZ. It was a simple device of metal hidden in a wooden plaque presented to the U.S. Ambassador by the USSR. Nothing electronic, just a little piece of metal. After a few years it was learned that a KGB agent could sit across the way with a radio receiver, and monitor the vibrations on this little strip, and record whole conversations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thing_(listening_device) It has been claimed that this technology has been perfected to the point that you can be monitored through your toaster oven or wall clocks, or any other device in your home. I don't have the article anymore but every commercial computer made since like 1998 has had a NSA accessable keystroke monitor/recorder installed. A few years back it was reported and acknowledged that, unless the battery is removed from your cell phone, that device can be used to monitor its surroundings. Call BS if you want but if the technologically inferior Russians can implement a passive listening device back in the 1950s (60 years ago), just think how far the technology has advanced. Jon -
Excellent! I said "EXCELLENT"! <laughs> Jon

My daughter said yesterday she doesn't remember the incident. My wife says I remember it wrong, that I was in full reverse and swinging the child at the goose. Guess that explains losing the Father of The Year. Jon
