  1. They do. If you can think it, they've done it. Jon
  2. Is it a MA Monolithic Rail? Jon
  3. Score!! Like hearing about finds like that dagamore! Jon
  4. Welcome Brave11! Don't know about the DPMS but I have a 2-7x32 Redfield and am very happy with it. Thing about the ARs is you can add stuff until the cows come home and still not be done. Jon
  5. Ok! Got the RRA Operator stock pulled after Tom the Man's advice to use a soldering iron, to heat up the stock screw. Now the DPMS Stock Extender kit (recommended for the RRA LAR-8s) comes with a shorter and a longer screw for a counter-sunk hole, while the PRS comes with a flat flat-head screw. Both the stock RRA stock-screw and the MagPul stock-screw are bored through with a hole in the center of the axis, to relieve air pressure in the buffer tube whilest the buffer is cycling. Neither of the DPMS screws are relieved with this hole in the center of the screw's axis. Questions: How necessary is the relief hole (I know I'm fond of mine)? Would it be best to get a longer screw replicating the flat-head of the MagPul and have it bored through? Thanks! Jon
  6. Boooooooo!! I'm not a big fan of how Bushmaster or Marlin turned out after being purchased by Remington (aka Freedom Group, aka Cerberus). My understanding is the honcho in charge of the Marlin debacle is fired...too late! The tag is totally hit or miss now. Should be hard to fould up Tapco's stuff but we'll see. Jon
  7. There's multiple incidents of Mexican army being in Arizona, so the whole "we don't want to militarize the border" line is bullpoopy. Maybe I can get out this weekend and get photos of the signs telling Americans to stay out, and the trash piles an hour plus north of the border (on pavement at highway speeds). Jon
  8. It is a good list! Everyone needs one. Jon
  9. What got me asking about it was thinking about scopes that had been mounted then removed from the rings. Often times the wear is uneven on the marks. And it doesn't seem to matter (from what I've seen) if they are twist in rings or mount straight to a rail. How much benefit the lapping affords is what I'm trying to find out. Jon
  10. Sweet Greg! Videos don't do tannerite justice. Tom and I had talked about it but it quickly left my feeble mind. We can shoot lots of that when we next meet up here! Jon
  11. I'm good at knocking myself out with extraneous activity. <laughs> I'm at an age now where it pays to ask before jumping whole hog. Jon
  12. Welcome dagamore! Where do you shoot over there? I have a gaggle of relatives that just moved to Hawaii. Would like to shoot if I go visit. Jon
  13. That is the question! So who here laps the ring portions of their one-piece scope mounts? It seems like it could only be a benefit, ensuring better alignment front to rear and that all machining burrs are gone, allowing a better grasp on the scope. Anyone here lap one-piece mounts? Jon
  14. The scope the scope the scope the scope!! I'd better get started on switching out those stocks! Jon
  15. Nice setup toyotrust! Welcome aboard! You a satisfied customer at this point? Jon
  16. Note the disparity. Tom not only needs an intervention, he needs to be fair and spread the gun wealth. We'll help to redistribute among poorer members here.
  17. California Highway Patrol was well represented.
  18. And then there was some more shooting!
  19. And more, getting to know everyone! Somehow I missed MikedaddyH!
  20. Ok slackers! This took a long time. Now I have to fix the poop. Tom owes me lunch at La Casitas. Jon
  21. Nope, pink and purple is what they want. None of that "scorched Robo boxers". <laughs> The girl keeps saying "magneta". Not quite sure what that is, may have to buy a big box of Crayolas to find out. Hey Tom, will a bayonet fit on the upper from Bravo? Jon
  22. Hey! I'm experiencing technical difficulties. Last time I wanted to download my pics from phone to computer, they went backwards...now my phone is loaded. Was supposed to be the other way. Jon
  23. Keep 'em coming folks! The BCM upper came today. Only a month+ before the stripped lower gets here! Still need trigger group, grip, mags, mag release, buffer and tube, bolt and carrier group, etc. I'm especially interested to hear what Heather and Jennifer have to say about what they like on AR15s. That BCM is a solid looking assembly! Glad Tom twisted my arm to get it. Jon
  24. What TH said ^^^^^^ there. As a wise man on another forum once said "Between shooting your reloads, reading manuals, and actually reloading, your brain will soon be mush and good for little else." It seems to be a majority rule (but there are exceptions) that most loads favored by certain firearms fall well below the maximum pressures for the caliber. As to your questions: As price of ammo rises for specialty rounds, your savings rise too. In general rifle loads are more expensive than handgun (of course), ballistic tip boat tail bullets more expensive than FMJ, FMJ more expensive than lead. The major "con", if you can call it that, is you had damn well better pay attention to everything you are doing while reloading. Don't take ANY safety procedure for granted, check, double check, triple check, then check again. Mistakes I've heard of include not realizing the page in the load manual had turned and WAY overloading the round to going straight to the maximum load. Pay attention. All manufacturers state that reloads/hand loads will void their warranty. Yet the reputable manufacturers stand behind their products and I've seen them fix issues for cheap or free when it was the reloader's fault. I've also seen them tell people they are dumbasses. Reloading is a HOOT of fun (no offense Hoot)! The first loads you make you will squeeeeeeeeeze the trigger, not sure if you should have taken up reloading, wondering/hoping everything will work correctly and BAM! The weapon fires. Your hands and fingers are all there. The firearm looks good...no cracks or bends. There is a hole in the target. Heh! Let me try that again (this last thought is you sinking the reloading hook, line, and sinker so deep that you will never get it out)! Jon
  25. :hunter: WHAT?!!? What about Second Amendment Foundation? Jews for Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO)? Or the new National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR)? I believe ALL of those are ZERO TOLERANCE for any BS legislation against the 2nd Amendment. Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) are the ones that filed the lawsuit that became Heller vs. D.C. The NRA was AGAINST challenging the D.C. law...until it looked promising. At that point SAF and Heller said "Thanks but no thanks!" If you read all the NRA stuff, it sounds as if they are the ones pushing all the battles but that is rarely the case. Jon
