Does that mean he isn't collecting for his beard charity? Jon

I'm constantly surprised at how much brass fits in a gallon size freezer baggie. Even more so at how much loaded ammo they hold. :o Jon

You folks in the NE, remember... if the temperature is dropping rapidly, sleet is blowing and everything is icing over, there is a pounding on the door..."Help me! I'm Senator Schumer! Let me in or I'll die!", shut the lights off and crank the stereo. Jon

What?!? No melting it out with a propane torch to cast more boolits? Jon

It isn't for the winner to wear! <laughs> It's for breaking out around the campfire and telling the Legend of Robocop! <lmao> Jon

<thumbsup> Mernickle has a HUGE following on Marlin Owners. Maybe when I slim down a bit. <laughs> Jon -
The Robocop autographed pink-bunny suit! <lmao> Jon

While you're scouring the internet Mike, look for an article called "The Load". They did something like 9gr of Red Dot in like 20 different calibers. Jon

Yes! But not in gas guns. Taking other people's word for granted, they say the lube and leading fouls a gas system in a manner that will allow you to fill a dictionary with four-letter words. I will state that I've seen no reviews of anyone trying gas checked moly coated lead in gas guns DI nor piston). That seems like it may be fairly reasonable for an attempt at it. Jon

Been awhile since I put out for a top-shelf scope. Back when I was an FFL, I bought the original Leupold Long Range Tactical wholesale. As happens so often with optics (and my purchases), scope technology started jumping by leaps and bounds. Within a year Leupold had added Mil-dot reticles and reticle lighting (it was way, WAY fricken expensive!!). I had a friend sell it at the Oklahoma Gun Show (2-stories, tens of thousands of tables) for $680. My price had been just under $500 new. Their current one that is comparable retails for about $1,500. Leupold has nothing that has all the same features as the Viper PST above. IMO Leupold's and Burris' optics are darker and not as clear as Nikon, Vortex, and others priced less. Vortex has an unconditional warranty on the scope, fully transferrable to the next 15 owners. I don't know if you guys remember how quickly scopes advanced in technology. And this drive of leaps and bounds almost overnight was driven by the lower-end scope makers...Tasco, Simmons, Bushnell...because they could afford to crank out cheap scopes with new features. Not unlike NcStar et al today. One produced a scope with a slightly bigger objective...from like 30mm to 32mm. Then someone did 33mm. Then 35mm. Then overnight everyone was touting their new 40mm objective lens scopes. Anyone remember the "t.v. view" scopes? <laughs> Simultaneously they were working on reticles. Leupold came out with the Duplex and patented it, so all the competition was getting creative with fancy sight pictures. We live in the Golden Age of optics now. You can get almost anything your heart desires or brain imagines, the rings to hold it, and the mounts to put it anywhere. Jon

Has he even noticed you replaced one of the pins? <laughs> Jon

Yup. I have to sneak new poop in there when Angie's at work. Months later when she says "Is that new?" >:( I just say "What? This old thing?" ??? It helps that they all have levers or are black. Jon

This is what is on backorder: http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-pst-4-16x50-ffp-riflescope-with-ebr-1-moa-reticle 75 MOA of adjustment for elevation and windage. This guy does a tracking test on the MRAD version, works very well! This is gonna be fun! Jon

I feel for ya man! I used to have ammo like that...spent a lot of time moving it from one magazine to another for something to do. <laughs> Way to go 392! We could have unlimited amounts of .223 but don't reload for it. Yet. Jon
-
How many cases do you have for any given caliber? The most I have that I reload for any one of them is .357 Magnum...thousands and thousands. Like 3,500 to 4,000 of them. I like to be prepared. So there are a couple of less GB .308 once fired auctions today than yesterday. A thousand cleaned, deprimed, swaged, and resized for each auction. One guy emailed immediately and said I could double the order for x-amount more. ;D May have to do that. I also have bunches and bunches of 9mm Luger/x19/NATO/Parabellum and .45acp, as the LE agencies leave them on the ground at the range. For the oddball stuff just enough to get by. 1,000 .45 Colt and 500 .25-20WCF. What do you guys stock? Jon

Google search?! poop...looks like you have extras! <laughs> Unless you have a secret in your gun closet... C:-) :hah:  <lmao> The girl keeps saying "magenta" (some female color, maybe Heather or Jennifer can enlighten us). Might have to do some mix and match on the cerakote stuff. Jon

poop, a few years back they did a public test of our voting machines, which were hacked by volunteer hackers. The paper on which you place your vote gets placed into a machine, where it is scanned and your vote is recorded. The paper is there for if the vote is contested. Which doesn't matter much. The hackers were able to take a vote for A on the paper and have the machine record it as a vote for B. They were able to do all sorts of crap...not record certain votes, count every fifth vote for A as 2 votes, on and on. Stock up the piles boys! It's about to get interesting! Jon

buying a complete upper or new rifle?
planeflyer21 replied to Spaniky73's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
After pricing as many places as possible, I then go to Gunbroker and see if anyone has what I'm seeking at a good price. Got both of my RRAs from people in-stock NIB, at prices lower than everyone else was selling production slots for a wait list. The uppers appear to be no different. Jon -
100,000,000 eligible voters do not vote. Jon

Cool Tom! That MI was one of the ones I was spying at Brownell's. Ultimately the gals will choose. Got a source for pink LP picatinny ladder covers? Or purple...they're arguing over how much of which. One thing they are NOT arguing about is that cute cuddly cop with the pink rifle. <lmao> Jon

Thanks guys! Everyone, keep 'em coming! This has to be a good build for the ladies of the house! Jon

There's enough of us in reasonable distance we can do it fairly regularly. Mikedaddy wants to meet in Marana, as it is more fair to him and Tom. Very convenient for blue109 and myself. <laughs> Jon -
Waiting on that Bravo Company pencil-barrel upper, which will be mated to the 2VA (Two Vets Arms) limited edition Spartan lower. This will be primarily for the girls to be shooting. They already are opting for a pink/purple mix on plastic. What is a good light handguard? A 4-rail would be fine (a little less pastel color). Still going to need a carbine length buffer tube, with spring, buffer, plus all the guts. What is everyone's recommendation to consider? Jon

We sure could use some rain here. Especially since I'm digging in coliche. Stay warm! Jon
