  1. Verdad...and I have to say that version was WAY lighter than other carbon fiber arms I've handled before. They also had a matching shotgun in stock too. <thumbsup> Jon
  2. Welcome from AZ! Jon
  3. On Combat, On Killing, Deadly Force Encounters (x2), To Ride Shoot Straight and Speak The Truth, The Principles of Personal Defense, and The Art of The Rifle from Amazon. Just upgraded to an iPhone too...all should be here this week sometime. Jon
  4. IM_JOHNNYV, just curious, where is the starting datum located on a forging for an AR308? We used to have all sorts of odd starting places. Variations inbetween lots was fairly substantial, for both castings and forgings...but they always came out dead-nuts. <thumbsup> Jon
  5. My last dog would hold it until we went for a morning walk. Going down an alley, when he was in tall grass, I'd say "Go poo!" and he'd squish the WHOLE thing out inbetween steps. Didn't have to shovel poop 'til he got older. My buddy saw this and thought he could do it on command. Over at his house one day, my dog just happened to drop a BIG bomb...perfectly within the top of a plant-pot in my friend's front yard. <laughs> I guess later that day my buddy was planting new plants and SURPRISE! <lmao> He wouldn't shutup about that for a month. Payback for that time as teens he was drunk, doing a slolem in his truck, with me on the hood, him and another laughing hysterically. Jon
  6. Maybe in YOUR world! :cookoo: "Same thing"! <lmao> Jon
  7. Personally, I'm VERY happy with my RRAs. I feel the Elite Operator LAR-8 is worth the money, if you are looking at one already. Jon
  8. Neal, welcome from AZ! Those XDs are the stuff! Jon
  9. Tom has sand? Lucky! I have coliche and weeds. Jon
  10. A friend of mine went through a LE instructor course a couple of decades ago, shooting only handgun, and they shot like 3,500 rounds in a week, loading all mags by hand. When he got back, everyone was like "Let's go shooting! Show us what you learned!" He said "No. I don't want to go shooting anymore!" <laughs> Took him a month or so before he got the urge. Jon
  11. I like the LAR-8s also. Have an Operator (Freedom Machine) and an Elite Operator (Liberty). Wouldn't you know it, it changed my plans so now I have to reconfigure the Freedom Machine. Dang unforgiven...mine only goes bang when I pull the trigger and it's loaded. <lmao> Don't shoot French-style! Jon
  12. TMI! TMI!! <dontknow> Jon
  13. Welcome from AZ capital-E Edge! Jon
  14. Jgun, it is a smokin' hot, flat shooting .22 caliber round. Yes, a person may use the same bullets as .223 Rem but there are other options. Those I know that have them say they shoot barrels out fast, 3k-4k rounds. One guy switched from .22-250 to .204 Ruger, because with the bigger round on prarie dogs his barrel was glowing and he had to stop shooting. Jon
  15. Heck, I run ammo through mine in the summer to cool it off. <laughs> Gotta make sure and tell students "If you drop the gun you buy it." Nothing like doing a hot potato with a hot gun. Jon
  16. I only charge $6 to sneak you in. You wouldn't believe what the other dudes charge! I haven't seen the schedule but chances are we'll be one of two groups there, if not the only one. Jon
  17. The key 98, is to live north of the BP checkpoints. <thumbsup> I'm serving as RSO in Marana on Tuesday...if anyone wants to come out as a guest, give me a holler. Jon
  18. Pics man! Pics! Jon
  19. I do all my priming by hand. IME all manufacturers have an issue with their auto presses and priming, so for me it is beneficial for two reasons to do it by hand. One, it adds another step for hands-on inspection of the case and primer and, two, you can really get cranking on the powder drop and bullet seating, when you don't have to worry about jammed up primers. Jon
  20. Forty-plus student packets for Refuse To Be A Victim, Basic Pistol Shooting, and Personal Protection In The Home. Jon
  21. I won't buy the Winchester .22LR either. Had a student with some get a case head blown out. I carefully examined all the other cases and the one that blew out, and one other had tiny nicks (maybe .008") on the rim, same shape exactly. Contacted Olin with the lot information, photos, etc., no reply back. I've since talked with others that had the exact same thing happen. Jon
  22. I'd imagine it is like the ol' "Light Magnum" cartridges they were marketing a decade ago. Kinda like +P loads for bolt-action guns, don't use in semi-autos. A couple of hundred extra feet per second and a shorter gun life, or a few extra inches of hold over when sighting? Jon
  23. lol I've read all but Hatcher's Notebook but it was so long ago.... More recently I've been into the up-close and personal, being reminded how much I like and admire Fairbrain and Sykes. I would've liked to have met them very much. Jon
  24. He's probably thinking "Why'd I buy that dang TS .22?!!" Jon
