  1. Rob, I'm not real familiar with the .38 AMU but it seems to be either a rimless or semi-rimmed version of a 38 Special. Either way it has a smaller base diameter than a 45 ACP so I'm guessing the breachface of the slide was welded up and recut for the .38 AMU base.
  2. HELL YEAH! Now you're talking! <thumbsup> <lmao>
  3. I've met several teachers in the shooting sports that I would trust to take care of my kids, and just for the record I don't shoot bullseye or F class! All of my shooting is action pistol, 3 gun and that sort of thing and this is where I meet these educators. I will admit that a HUGE percentage of teachers are whiny a$sed liberals that cower at the thought of carrying a gun, and the biggest percentage is in administration! We had our own school shooting here back in 1999 but only one student was shot and killed so it kind of gets put on the back burner of school shootings.
  4. Nice! <thumbsup>
  5. That was a great trade! With that rib on top I'm guessing that at one time or another it probably belonged to a PPC shooter. If I were you I would sit on that for a while and keep an eye out for a good deal on a stock Gold Cup slide. Here's one on gunbroker pretty cheap that is modified for the .38 AMU cartridge. A good machinist could easily open the breechface for 45 ACP. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=441302929
  6. I know some teachers that shoot and are proficient with firearms and tactics that I would trust more than some police officers I've known!
  7. This is one fukked up situation! At the high school were I substitute teach they figured out "Hey, the subs can't lock the classroom door on lockdown drills. they don't have any keys!" Their solution? The janitors put a piece of duct tape across the striker of the door when they open the rooms up for the subs in the morning and leave the door locked! Half of the time the striker slips into the striker plate and you can't open the door from the outside so you can't close up the room at lunchtime and you have to leave the door open during classes because of students going to the restroom. Duct tape! And these people think it's a brilliant idea! Don't even get me started about myself and both of the security personnel at the school being retired cops and unable to carry!
  8. Haha! Me too! <thumbsup> You're gonna like shooting that thing when you get some ammo.
  9. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!! Good one Adam! <thumbsup>
  10. Both mine and Josh's builds come out to 26.5" with 10.5" barrels and the Guntech pistol buffer tube (same length as the KAK tube). That is measuring from the end of the buffer tube to the muzzle with no muzzle device on.
  11. Nice build Sketch! That lower looks like my Anderson! Is it? Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?
  12. That fat lard would be discharged from the Navy in a heartbeat! A girl my son went to school with wasn't as big as she is and she is now home with an "Other than Honorable" discharge!
  13. Mine wasn't THAT bad!
  14. Yup! After my table saw incident that video makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up though! <lmao>
  15. LOL! You are a silver tounged devil Rob! <thumbsup>
  16. BTW, I'm a little late with this, but welcome to the forum!
  17. Budget is a dirty word around here. As soon as you ask for advice the guys here will make sure any thoughts you had of a budget will go up in a puff of smoke. <lmao> Thing is, if they recommend something you can bet they've already tried it and found it to be worthy. You will probably spend more than you anticipated but you'll have a hell of a rifle when the dust settles. <thumbsup>
  18. Welcome from New Mexico!
  19. ROFL You gotta love Jerry Miculek, he may be about the best revolver shooter on the planet but he has a great sense of humor! <lmao>
  20. Damn SS, that's a nice Harley! I'm guessing circumstances are dictating the sale, I can't imagine you willingly letting it go!
  21. I was sitting at a long stoplight yesterday, minding my own business and patiently waiting for it to turn green, even though there was no on-coming traffic. A carload of bearded, young, loud Muslims, shouting Anti-American slogans, with a half-burned American Flag duct-taped on the trunk of their car, and a "Remember 9-11" slogan spray painted on the side, was stopped next to me. Suddenly they yelled, "Allah Akbar! Praise Allah!" Death to America" and took off before the light changed. Out of nowhere an 18-wheeler came speeding through the intersection and ran directly over their car, crushing it completely and killing everyone in it. For several minutes I sat in my car thinking to myself, "Man....that could have been me! "So today, bright and early, I went out and got a job as a truck driver.
  22. Gotta atone for my screwup! <thumbsup>
  23. ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <lmao>
