@98Z5V your build is what inspired me to do mine. Ever since you posted those pics I wanted to do one. When that damn bumpfire ban happened I needed a shoulder stock and grip so I went the wood route with that carbine. I need to look around the forum, I think I posted some pics of it somewhere here after I got it done. Woodies are just cool!
The lower receiver uses an AR-15 grip, theres no way an AR-180 grip would work. The lower receiver looks like it probably uses a lot more AR-15 parts too. The shoulder stock is totally AR-15 also, it's mounted on a LAW Tactical Folder stock adapter.
You guys reminded me of an incident from back in 1975 that happened when I was working at a Chevrolet dealership.
We had a guy that detailed cars and was pretty good at troubleshooting strange noises and water leaks in cars. He told me he had been messing with a customer's Cadillac that had a really annoying rattle in it and had found out what it was. He narrowed it down to the front passenger door and when he pulled the door panel off there was a Coke bottle in the bottom of the door. He said there was a note in it that said "Finally found it didn't you, you rich SOB!"
Lot of differences there. If you look close at the BRN 180 it is AR-15 based. It looks to me like it has more in common with the AR-15 than the AR-180.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've shot Glocks and I still don't like them. I would never take a Glock over a 1911. It's not that I don't like plastic, my carry gum is a S&W Shield and I really liked the H&K USP I carried on duty, I just hate the grip angle on the Glocks. I hated the grip angle on the S&W 4006's we were issued back in the day too!
I'm with you there! I built a 38 Super Open gun for USPSA and shot that division for a couple of years. Loved the speed that gun was capable of and it really improved my Limited Division skills but I just wasn't into the red dot sights. I went back to my iron sighted STI in Limited and traded the open gun off. It was fun for a while!😁
Read this article this morning and thought I would post it up here. Interesting build and the end result is pretty damn nice!

I'm with you brother! I haven't had any interest in any kind of body armor since I shed my kevlar back in 2002 but recent events and this development are making me rethink things.
Oh hell, I didn't read long enough! I thought it would take regular 12 ga. shells. Well schit!
Now I gotta wonder, would it be possible to machine it to take 12 ga. shells, not that I would do anything like THAT!
Got an email on this thing yesterday and I'm still scratching my head! How the hell can these things be legal without going through an FFL??? This thing is so fukking cool I want one bad, just to be able to pull it out of the gun safe to show people and say "Check THIS schit out!"
I'm thinking it might be a fun little bastard with those 12 ga. mini shells @98Z5V keeps talking about! I just gotta figure out how to justify it with my wife right after my $200 38 Super 1911 purchase!
I can't help but think that if I had to pull this on some evildoer the main thought running through my head would be "Damn I hope this azzhole backs down so I don't have to pull the trigger on this fukkin thing!"

Dude, you need a bigger workbench, seriously! You don't have near enough junk collected!
I've got about 25' of work bench, THAT is a serious collection of crap!
My 300 BLK SBR has a handguard that goes just a little past the back end of the suppressor and I think it looks pretty good that way. My suppressor is a direct thread on the barrel and never comes off. The handguard has less than 1/8" clearance around the can and heat transfer has never been an issue but like I said, it doesn't cover much of the can to start with.
Had to go find it but here's a pic of it from the 300 BLK picture thread;
I've never noticed any gas blowback with mine either. I really don't think it would be an issue though. In a blowback system the pressure has to drop enough for the empty casing to release from the chamber walls in order for the action to start cycling. My thought is that by then a lot of the gas pressure has already subsided.
But then, what do I know?
Best price I've found for a dedicated lower;

I've got 2 and they work, one on a 9mm build and one on a 40 S&W build. I caught the first one on sale for $99.
