I was thinking the RRA scope mount weighs probably 14 oz i could go to straight rings that attach to the rail can you point me in the right direction on the daniel defence rail?

max range 400 to 500 yds most shots will be between 100 and 250 same with deer now this gun will be a all around do it all weapon just in case SHTF or heaven forbid everyone one the rez turns into a zombie i need a heavy weapon to go with my light arms and this will be it so i want to trim weight and get rid of everything not necessary to good function i do not need quad rails etc.. and i am thinking a DMPS carbine forarm in the carbon variety would save some weight , and how about a slick sided upper no forward assist? I am not worried about recoil , how much does the gas block weigh a LB? just looking for practical ideas.. thanks ... lol after 45 years hunting with bolt rifles i reached for the bolt when i shot this elk.... my bad.... :)

Ok , I am looking at shaving any and all usless weight from this rifle I really do not understand why they have to be so heavy so i will get a good photo of the rifle and we can pick parts to replace...

Well with 5 days left i got it done elk down.... the 308 dropped him in fine style and i have to say i like the Ar10 for hunting i carried it 12 days elk hunting and with a 2 point sling is was a breeze even though it is a 9 lb gun anyway not the biggest elk but i never have really been a horn hunter but it sure will eat good this winter... I left the black gun out of the picture so i don't have to explain to anyone who see's it why i have a evil assault weapon... lol peace all sorry the pic is so bad it is my phone and it is raining like cats and dogs

I have to vote DPMS as it is the only 308 ar type rifle i have ever shot so untill i find something wrong with it I will keep on shooting it... what can a 4,000 dollar gun do that mine can't?

Are they worth it ? hell yes no better piece of mind than waking up in the middle of the night and seeing those baby's glowing on the night stand no looking for the gun just pick it up like a runway to peace of mind.. I have them on my Kimber tac 2 custom and my old eyes love them....

Well Elk season in Idaho is here again and this year i am toting my LR308, using a 2 point sling no buis, just glass and using a pmag with 5 rounds in it . First impression are pretty good it is heavier than my bolt gun by a couple pounds but carrying it in front up on my chest barrel left(I am a righty) is not bad at all . But now i need to find a different way to carry bino's as they are in the way hanging on my chest, saw three elk day one and 7 mule deer but nothing with horns ,day two no elk just deer one nice buck but had no chance to connect ... but it is horrible dry here no rain in 86 days but maybe some rain this week end then the hunting will get good will keep you posted..

On the show they had ground spotters with gps who took 4 wheelers and picked up hogs and donated them to the local food bank what a great way to get rid of hogs..... I remember back in the late 50's and 60's airplanes were used to hunt wolves now they got them suckers here again and they use helocopters fun stuff

If you can get it on TV you have to watch "Pigman the series" episode called "Let there be Pork " it features Ted Nugent , a helicopter and 2,3 ar10 type rifles and a machine gun, and a couple od simi auto shotguns Oh and about 240 dead pigs...... I have a new entry on ,my bucket list!

On broadheads make sure mechanical ones like the rage are legal in your state In Idaho here all mechanical broadheads are illeagal....

The way all the companies have been building and selling and repairing rifles this last year and a half it is a wonder it is not a 6 month wait this is a very very busy time in the ar industry, It sucks to get something that should be right and it is wrong but is just bad luck sorry for your troubles i love my DPMS never had a issue guess i just had good luck....

Just buy a bowtech and be done with it you will not be disappointed.

I would agree with the above but ONLY if you can not find someone who would take you out and show you the ropes... Guided hunts are just that Guided and what you end up doing is just the killing part you do not learn how to hunt, the guide wants you to be successful and therefore will get you a kill as fast as possible. Hogs are a nuisance animal and most states want you to kill as many as possible.. but read the state regulations first... Hunting is NOT about killing it is about food and feeding your family or friends but if you are not going to eat it why kill it? Hunting can be a very rewarding experience when you do it yourself you plan the hunt do your scouting, take the time to know your rifle and it's capabilities and practice with it all these things lead to the end part the kill well sir the food never tasted better than when you do it yourself.... In closing if you want to know what hunting is about don't watch the many TV shows they are about killing and about the biggest horns or size etc. as far as I am concerned they do way more harm than good.. of course all of this is just my opinion based on over 40 years of hunting to feed my family...

I use Vortex strikefire on a m4 and I use a Vortex diamond back 4 to 12 mildot on my LR 308 both work great ...

I agree with you 100% most civilian guns will not be shot over 5 thousand rounds and with almost no care a DI gun will function just fine and i also agree that these 3 to 4 thousand dollar guns are NOT going to be bought in any large amount by civilians we simply do not have the bucks..

Why not the 284 win or 7 mm o8, or better yet the 6mm284 all based on 308 brass with the 284 having a different shoulder at 25 degrees i believe?

I hate those quad rails they are uncomfortable and bulky i love the standard m4 carbine forgrip...

I am late as well I have a lr 308C carbine and I love it no FTF or FTE and I have been breaking it in with Port surplus and getting 1moa groups at 100 yards I will hunt with it for both elk and deer this year... great gun for the money
