  5. I have been quiet for a few days digesting this huge pile of well you know... what i learned in this election and i am sad it took me 62 years... Rural American and Urban American do not think any where's alike not even close . You look at a map of this election a map not only of States but counties as well it is 90% Red!!! the only blue is around large metropolitan areas. the areas that have the most population and also have the most problems, homeless, poor, lack of jobs, lack of good infrastructure, transportation problems etc etc . So it only makes sense that they will vote for the guy helping them the most and they have gotten to the point of now knowing how to help themselves but rely way to much on the state and federal government to help them out. Now i know what poor is I live on a Native American Reservation I am not a tribal member here but own private ground within the reservation there are some really poor people here BUT! everyone in the community will give their last buck to help someone in need ,bring firewood food from the garden help with a deer, or donate to someone burned out but they do it themselves not with freebies from the government. Life here revolves around the seasons the garden hunting, fishing, and enjoying life... seems to me folks that live in the cities have forgotten this and have just given up on life or the pursuit of happiness we are a dying breed the folks that think like we do we are out numbered and we are being called dinosaurs by kids going to school in a democratic environment they are taught that anything is ok that it is ok to be different and there is no need to hunt or have guns anymore that they are evil and that thinking is outdated that the 2nd amendment is outdated it is sad and i am sad about it but I will tell you what i will go down and out as a dinosaur but while i am going extinct i will live my life like i have for 62 years and be proud of it.... if I stepped on anyones toes sorry.... did not mean to just needed to get it out.. this country is in a sad state of affairs..

  11. I am just waitin. ! <laughs>
  12. Jon go to this thread there is a great discussion i started on changing things on my DPMS rifle and the biggest one is the carbine forarm and the folks here have been simply awesome with their their knowledge and help http://308ar.com/forum/hunting/thoughts-on-carrying-lr308/
  13. I am late to this party but sorry your information is wrong in all areas the high end guns are not the only good guns out there this is one area that really makes me mad and that is Bull $hit info on guns there are many good reliable guns for alot less than 3000. buck I shoot a DPMS bought it new got a good deal 900.00 and it has never failed in any way it is accurate, never jams no FTE or FTF and will do anything i need to do with it including beting my life on it and for 5.56 build your own for less, I built 2 rifles a M4 and a A2 for less than 1000.00 bucks from Palmentto state armory and they sell nothing but good parts and they have awesome prices.... I do not buy into the high end guns are the only ones out there if they were I would not have one.
  14. Ok first off i want no problems with Tacti-cat. here is a picture of my rifle and a pic of the apex with cutout it looks to be longer than my carbine fore arm so maybe they take that into account and it is made to cover the sight as pictured or maybe it is a mid length and the cut out allows it to be used on a carbine length gas system i think that may be the case OK news flash i went back to Apex site it is a 2150 Apex Handguard, AR-15, GatorGrip, Extended Carbine Length with Cutout so it is extended length carbine so i thin k it will work...
  15. Ok i got the idea of this now here is what the lady said in the email they would sell me a DPMS clamp and the carbine length fore arm that they sell for AR 15's so if i put a JP gas block A2 sight combo on then i would need to check the length from barrel nut to back of sight to see if i need a cutout or not . I need a front sight in any case and i like the A2 over clamp on so i guess i need the A2 sight first.
  16. Ok great news I wrote Apex and asked them if they could sell me a carbine length forarm with the cut out for a A2 sight for a DPMS lr 308 and they said they could so i wrote back just to double check will let you guys know when i hear back....
  17. Skills are always dependent on time spent actually doing , It is the single biggest problem in this high tech world . Instead of accumulating a lot of skills build from years of in the field work people and kids especially just google it and then think they have the know how nope sorry that will not cut it ... you want to learn survival skills start practicing them now learn how to make fire from a pepsi can and a chocolate bar google all you want you will not get it till trying for days once you learn how it is easy... I once spent a summer on a trip from the Canadian border to mid Idaho by horseback with nothing made after 1840 it was the biggest eye opener ever for me fire is not just a match or lighter it is life learn by doing and besides it is fun... being prepared to live is a responsibility you owe yourself and those you love take it seriously it might just save your life one day....
  18. so a flip up mounted on the top of the rail will line up with a buis mounted on the rear of the upper receiver? well when looking at the application it looks like the for arm rail and upper rail line up so it should work... down side more parts so more weight now how about the jp A2 sight gas block and the mid length apex and cut out the fore arm my self to fit heck i could cot the length of the fore arm as well
  19. EdgeCrusher you are indeed correct and i am bummed that would be a perfect setup for my needs and i could have shaved a lb off the weight of the rifle.. ok back to the drawing board...
  20. Ok cool now i know i need to order 300.00 bucks in lawn mower parts... wink! wait xmas is coming ... LOL thanks 98Z5V and all you other brothers who have helped me on this prodject... and that sight gas block combo only weighs 3.4 oz i know the one on the gun must weigh over 10 oz
  21. Ok I would love to have a A2 type front sight gas block combo and the Apex carbine forarm with the cutout for the A2 sight so my next question is would the Jp A2 sight gas block combo work?
  22. Ok i got it ... I like the looks of the apex...
  23. does the apex come in a carbine lenght? as i do not want to change gas tube lenghts...
  24. what about this one? http://dpmsinc.3dcartstores.com/308-Carbon-Fiber-Free-Float-Tube-Carbine_p_327.html
  25. thank you very much i will start getting some weights and look at the gas blocks..
