  1. KAC is Titusville. GA is in North Kansas City....they need to hire someone to answer the phone and return calls. ??? That being said, their "gunsmiting" is nothing short of spectacular.
  2. Out of nowhere Stalin drives up in a Ford Ranchero and says , "AR-10 my azz"
  3. The thing about LaRue and to a slightly lesser extent the M110, is the round after round accuracy (I would say reliability, but the KAC can be finicky) . Some State Guys run the Gap-10 and I am becoming more and more impressed with them. Sure you can build a very accurate rifle, but is it accurate after a couple of 10 round groups? That is where Mark LaRue, George Gardner, and the boys in Titusville show their worth. All three rifles are beefy.
  4. I'm jealous. Awesome pics.
  5. Fixed it for you......
  6. I bet all those 308AR owners didn't read the fine print on the refund policy... "All your AR-10s will be treated like AR-10s because all AR-10s are AR-10s. Therefore no refunds will be issued for AR-10s that won't fire because they were repaired with AR-10 parts."
  7. What it is called and what it is matters to people who buy parts and build these weapons. The name matters. A MK11 isn't an AR-10, and an OBR isn't a SR-25. Nor is a REPR a LAR 8 There are differences and the name matters. 308AR is generic term and those who deal with a variety of 308AR platforms find it easier to use 308AR as the macro view of the weapon and the MK11, AR-10, LR308, SR-25, M110, OBR, REPR, 417, etc etc etc the micro view for specific discussions. Although I can't speak for everyone, this is the way that the majority of us who shoot these weapons for a living and for recreation view this issue. You obviously want to be part of this community so we ask that you honor this when discussing the many platforms here. If not for yourself or the regulars, but for the new guys so that we may better assist them when they have questions about a specific platform....yes....most of us consider the term AR-10 a specific platform. I think you will find most of us more receptive to that.
  8. This is just my opinion. IDPA is great if you want to go shoot under some stress and push yourself with your pistol. I think if your goal is to become a competent gunfighter, then you need to take several defensive pistol courses, get your fundamentals down to a second nature and then go and shoot IDPA with a set up as close as possible to your CCW set up. IDPA is not training You will see once you get out there. Training is where you have a competent instructor to teach and correct you and make sure that you are nailing the fundamentals. IDPA is fun. Some clubs try to have very realistic scenarios that you could benefit from.....but the cameraman vests, the race holsters, and the like rob some of the benefit from them. Go shoot, make friends, and push yourself, but do yourself a favor, spend the money on a couple of damn good courses first. Additionally, invest in your physical fitness if you are not already doing so.
  9. Is this just for target shooting or will you be hunting (or having to identify targets with specificity) with it too?
  10. You are correct. I, too, am pretty sure that never happened. Our SOF guys are extremely lethal and do many things very well......... but Martial Law will likely never be one of them.
  11. Great to hear.
  12. Sounds like fun. I could bank some per diem on a goat rope like that. PB&J and Gatorade for 8 weeks equals a new 308AR.
  13. Stability and twist rates I suspect. The 300blks have 1/7 and 1/8 which manages the slower moving longer bullets better. We experimented with some subs for special applications and when I asked why they were so light I was told because our weapons are 1/11 and 1/12.
  14. I have personally never seen a 308AR cycle a subsonic load. I am sure it can be done, but I haven't seen it successfully pulled off with either COTS or Homebrew. If I recall, the M110 barrel has a rifle length gas port which will work against you in the cycling department as well.
  15. Only by cowards.
  16. What type of gun (action/barrel configuration) are you going to push these through?
  17. <lmao> Perhaps....because after 5 rounds through that thing, I simply won't reload it.
  18. I guess a 1911 or Glock (or any modern firearm) wasn't in the running.
  19. Sharp looking pistol.
  20. I was going to say that if he did own 100 Glocks...that is 99 more than is needed. But enough of me trying to start a brand vs brand debate...there will be time for that later. On to the situation at hand. This forum does a good job of policing fakes, phonies, frauds, crazies and posers. This is why you don't see the same BS going on here that you do on other forums. If you look through this forum, you will see that there is a lot of technical info exchanged in addition to the fun we have in the general area up here. Although we appreciate a good warrior resume and other general badassery, it is not required and basically the standing members here are just dudes being dudes trying not to come across as a-holes and knowitalls.....but doing our damnest to share what we know given our life experience and background. We try to respectfully disagree and get on with people (both new and old) that don't throw their credentialed nuts on that table and demand people respect or worship their knowledge. You came onto this board in a "very in your face" manner. This is a red flag that you may be the type of member that either stirs trouble, provides misinformation, or typically doesn't try or want to get to know the team you are trying to join. You should have read a couple of threads to learn the dynamic here before deciding to join. You have managed to rub a couple of us wrong with your comments and now you find yourself arguing with respected guys. The guy you insist on calling names devotes a lot of time to this forum. He, Matt, and a handful of others police this place pretty dang well. Guys like me who stay on the road and only post and read up when a break in the job, family, and other demands of life presents itself appreciate this place staying normal (very relative). I like being able to leave for a month, return, and not have a bunch of mall ninjas invading the forum and posting dog crap about how badass they are or how they shoot 1000 yards all day long with crappy ammo and an out of the box rifle. . This is a welcoming bunch, you don't see it because you may have expected love and adoration for your experience and didn't get it. As to your experience, you may or may not know your crap. I venture to say you may know more than me and several others on this forum about the gunsmithing and maybe even the 308ar, but at this point nobody cares. You may get banned, but it will be doing you a favor in the long run. Good luck and use this as a learning experience.
  21. I'm torn.... There is only one way to decide this... Laz, do you own a Glock, KAC, or stock in the company BioFilm?
  22. This excites me........
  23. That's what I think I look like, my wife says I look like scruffy white trash. She has three more months of it. Which means one of us has to shave..... >:D
  24. In an off-duty scenario, I believe this to be the right answer. Get out of the kill zone, protect your family, help those that can be helped and be a good witness for responders. I carry a real unmanly piece of police identification in the event I am in a situation like that an have to respond or link up with responders. Currently, I am groomed about as good as a hobo living in a cardboard box so I need all the credentials I can get to be legit.
