After back issues since my early 20's a couple of months ago it came down to this: I couldn't walk 100 feet without stopping for the pain to subside, or stand in one spot for more than three minutes, without being in agony. I had put off surgery two years ago on the advice of the neurosurgeon, which was the right call at the time, but this years wood supply lay in was the straw that broke the camels's back. Or in this case, Sisco's back. It was supposed to be an hour and a half operation, turned out my L5 vertebrae was so messed up it took three and a half hours on the table. That was a week and a half ago. Today I walked two miles with no pain whatsoever. The surgeon said one of the stenosis (bone spurs) was ready to penetrate my spinal cord, and when he removed it, the spinal cord popped back into the now empty space like a water balloon. My advice to all of you who have back issues: get the best neurosurgeon back specialist you can find, and don't wait like I did, get it fixed and have a new lease on life. The first five days of post op had quite a bit of pain, but now its worth it. Now I can go hike and post targets pain free again, I plan to do a heck of a lot shooting when weather permits.
