Just picked up a retractable stock for an AR15 $49 and an M4 size 4 rail forend, $19, plus 220 more rounds of ZQ1, 49 1/2 cents a round. I am poor, but supplied.

Back when I was a kid, we would go camping in the Black Hills and those B- 36's would go over us at about 12,000 feet. When they changed their propeller pitch, Holy Crap! What a sound!

Mag will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers, along with our family members in Lake Chelan WA and Bayview. ID. They all have been evacuated one time or the other in the past month. The worst ever.

The Minnesota Air National Guard used to have a YF12 parked at their small aviation museum at the Minneapolis Airport. Took my son there years ago, you could walk around and actually touch it. The YF12 was a prototype fighter based on the SR71 that never got produced. It was impressive. Since then it got moved somewhere in the country to another museum. An amazing class of aircraft. Someday if things calm down internationally I would like to visit the outdoor museum of the Red Army Air Force in Moscow. Doubt that ever happens though.

Tried something new. Red Oak, because I have 6 cords of it laid up, and nothing else around right now. It is a strong smoke flavor, so I cut the wood back a bit and used lump charcoal as well. Temp was 260 for one hour to kill bacteria, then back down to 210-225 for a 12 hour smoke. We had a group my wife belongs to with their husbands over last night, and the smoked fish and pork was a hit. Got some left for myself thank goodness. Now I gotta go catch some more fish to smoke.

Nice set up Blue like that fore end.

It finally hit Ashland Wi. All AR's marked down. A DPMS 308 patrol rifle, normally $914, now $699! Don't need but almost bought anyway. Did score on more ZQ1.

Normally I use brown sugar in the brine, but we were out, and maple syrup is too expensive to make to dilute in the brine, so I tried it this way. It gives a nice, muted sweet flavor to the fish that matches up well with the salt and the pepper. I will try it again.

Pretty straight forward. Salt, black pepper, and bay laurel leaves. Then I did a light coating of maple syrup and some more black pepper before putting it in the smoker.

In an effort to get in touch with my more sensitive, artistic side, I have decided to open the above business. Attached are some samples of my work and creativity. To book an appointment, just dial 1-800- real man and ask for "Mr. Sisco".

Just checked two wally world's yesterday. Nothing up here on clearance, and lots of 5.56 AR's on the shelf. They did have Turkish ZQ1 5.56 Ammo 850 rounds in an ammo can for $457. That is 50cents a round almost. Too expensive for my blood. I did buy the last two 20 count boxes of ZQ1 7.62x51 for $9.93 each .

Getting back to that service rifle competition thing. I may be mixed up here, but the Army Marksmanship Unit has been using Armalite AR10 National Match rifles for a number of years. If they can use them, I assume civilian competitors could as well.

Thanks guys, hope all of you get some range time soon. Speaking of ranges, a couple of things. After the moly coated bullets, I pumped some old 1975 era Indian Army surplus I have through the AR10, and damned if that stuff wasn't a lot more accurate than the last time I used it! I am thinking that there is residual effect on the bore from the moly coating on the bullets. I don't know how long it lasts, but I am going to forego cleaning the bore and find out. Also, after spending time in Minnesota this winter and finding out what it is like to live in a state with hardly any shooting ranges, I recently volunteered to be on a Wisconsin DNR Advisory committee working to promote shooting range construction and maintanence trhoughout the state. We need more, not fewer opportunities to shoot in safe places. I hope I can help make a difference.

The son came home so we hit the range with the AR10T carbine. And a bunch of 45's. Had the chance to try out some of those HSM Moly coated 168 gr BTHP's . They are just as accurate in the carbine as in the rifle. Had to let the wife use my cell phone so I didn't have a camera, but some of the groups were one big ragged hole at 100 yards. I am impressed enough I am going to hoard my remaining stock and start looking for more. 45' s were as fun as 1911's always are.

Thought of it, but I do like the hammer. Must be old school or something. Finally found an FNX45 overpriced at Cabela's and the trigger was totally different than the last one I tried. It did not feel very crisp. Going back and look at the Sig on Wednesday, we will see.
