  1. the grips are supposed to be identical, so you shouldn't have a problem.
  2. Well, with my new part time position with Shadow Ops Weaponry(its official now), one of the benefits I get is dealer cost on anything. Not sure what margins are really like, but i'm going to have somewhere over $1800 "extra" next month to buy a gun safe and maybe a new optic. That Leupold Mark 8 3.5-25x56mm makes me want to cry for the $3000, but damn I bet that is ultra sweet.
  3. What would be you under $500 choice, your under $1000 choice, and your no limit choice?
  4. stainless Blackhawk for me thanks :)
  5. Sooner or later we should try and do a group trip to the manatee range for some long distance shooting
  6. berdan not boxer? if you shoot it and don't reload berdan stuff yourself, I'd happily pay for shipping for the used brass :D

cool. I've been itching for them to open a closer shop as the closest used to be about 90 minutes away, but they're building one now around 20 min. Want to bring the kids there for the weekend fishing deal http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPageC?storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&appID=94&storeID=86&tab=3
  8. that memphis location has been a black hole for shipments more than once for me as well
  9. 2 things on that particular one. Made for AR15, and made to replace full length rifle units. I don't know how well it might hold up or whether it will work all that well in the 308
  10. And what specific ammo you are using
  11. Damn that's sweet. I have a friend in Palmer who keeps telling me to come visit this time of year so we can go salmon fishing. I need to take him up on that.
  12. does your handguard have a top rail? if it does, you can just take your longest scope with its rings set straight, attach one ring to the handguard and then use the other ring to get the gas block centered :)
  13. I'm pretty sure the answer is that your barrel is .750 under its gas block, but it profiled down slightly narrower after it.
  14. welcome from florida. you might also want to look at fulton armory http://www.fulton-armory.com/FAR-308-Rifles.aspx and there are a few others as well. Can't go wrong with the LaRue though at all. or build your own from scratch.
  15. welcome from Florida. No, never heard of them. And for DPMS compatible components, its a tossup. There isn't a single good source that will have everything you need, and so its all dependent on the individual part you are looking for. Particularly given how many choices there are - triggers, grips, safeties, etc its not like 1 place has them all in stock.
  16. with the oil change, its just that it only ends up saving me a dollar or two by the time I have to drive somewhere to get rid of the old oil.
  17. I fix most of my own stuff. But I refuse to mow my own lawn, and there isn't a chance in hell of me changing my own oil.
  18. No, you just pay more as a non member
  19. Welcome from Florida. If you want a home defense AR, I have to think the 308 would be pretty far down the list. An AR 15 in 45 acp would be optimal for that. Honestly I would never seriously consider firing the 308 AR in a dwelling
  20. I am basing it more on what I've read and conversations than on personal experience as I'm just starting at reloading. That's why I started with "from all that I know" :)
  21. Its http://www.manateegunclub.com/
  22. In Tampa. actually inside city limits no less. It wouldn't seem like it if you saw the house
  23. I would love to get one in FDE, set up as left handed. I'm right handed, but firing something like that offhand should be a snap, and all 3 of my kids are lefties.
  24. from all that I know, bothering with the super precision reloading isn't really worth it if you are primarily talking about through a 308 AR. If its a bolt action you're reloading for, that's different. But the tolerances and bolt locking, gas blowback etc of the 308 AR platform adds enough variables that the little bit of difference precision reloading gives disappears. Plus theres the question of short base vs full length as well, and most precision reloading uses the full length dies.
  25. I saw some of yours on Gunbroker, it's a cool logo on there for sure :)
