and what magazine are you using?
  2. the fully ambi will be nice, particularly mag + bolt release
  3. the fish are oversized like your wolves! :D
  4. I almost managed to trade my MAK90 + 2 drums and some ammo for a complete Beowulf 50 upper plus 300 rounds of ammo and reloading equipment but he already had an offer in (of similar to mine, just no drums). But that's crazy, an SKS for an AR? particularly an M&P
  5. I can't picture any solid BCGs. One possibility is that there are some that are for oddball calibers? that's the only thing I can think of.
  6. Last time I owned an SKS, I paid around $130 for it. I guess part of what is dumbfounding to me about it is that at $450, you are approaching what you can build an AR15 for and end up with a much nicer weapon. And most other guns (not including AKs) have also come at least somewhat back downwards in price to close to pre-Newtown levels. Then again I saw someone selling a Chinese norinco MAK90 parts kit (no receiver) for $700...
  7. I saw this ad Seriously? $200 is too much for one of those pieces of junk. He'll probably sell it too. I wouldn't pay that much for an AK with a milled receiver, much less an SKS.
  8. could you have had the lever flipped the wrong direction on the FA?
  9. the only issue i'd see is that you'll have to play around a bit more on finding the sweet spot for them powder + potentially bullet depth wise. Other than that, it shouldn't make a bit of difference.
  10. welcome. I'm guessing you're in texas if you are doing long range shooting nuisance hogs (as here in Florida you're rarely able to see them more than 100 yards off due to ground cover. The forward assist on a 308 is a luxury item, definitely not a requirement at all. the gas pressure on the 308 is high enough that your bolt will be cycling hard enough to not need it. I have one on my upper, but i'd be totally fine with a semi-slick side - given how the 308's kick out ejecting I like having the deflector. I haven't used mine in 400 rounds of crappy mil surplus ammo, and doubt I ever will use it.
  11. from the pictures on DPMS's site it looks like the 308 sportical is a mid or carbine length handguard, not a rifle length, but its so hard to say
  12. on mine, it refused to lock with the go gauge if I walked the bolt down, but closed fine if I let it go hard (not even full length, but halfway). I was worried when it wouldn't lock at first, but then realizing how tight it was and that with some power behind it there was no issue so that it was all just resistance from tightness, not incorrect headspace. not saying that's the case with yours but it may be. I've got 400 rounds of crappy 40 year old 762 surplus through mine now with relatively limited issues (some FTE, some FTF, some duds)
  13. dang, i'm broke at the moment, but I want to remember that for next paycheck
  14. sweet!

    that's cool as heck!
  16. dang, that's a great price. I'm leaving on vacation next weekend though, so money is tight right now. If you haven't sold it by the time I'm back, i'll see how much money I have left :)
  17. we did the normal thing, then when the wife + I got into bed we put on the military history channel, and were watching the "Last Days of WWII" show.
  18. I've got a dpms 308 charging handle I'd sell cheap, replaced it with a Raptor
  19. That was at 50, just a front rest seated, no sand bags
  20. granted, using I think its 145gr 40+ year old mil surplus ammo isn't exactly going to give superb accuracy, but its finally getting close to zeroed.
  21. to continue the marriage chain, I dated my first wife for 3 years, lived with her for 2 after that, got married and it didn't last 2 years. My wife now, I met in april 95, started dating in may, moved her in June, proposed july, married august, and pregnant September. She was 19 when we met, turned 20 in june. 18 years this aug.
  22. In general regarding trusts, it can be anyone in any country. But for a trust to be effective for this sort of purpose, I think the trustees would have to be people who can legally possess the possessions of the trust. In a nutshell, if you were to die unexpectedly all he possibly could do is resell the items held by the trust. Even that I'm kind of wishy washy about though, given how he wouldn't be legal to own it here, wouldn't necessarily be legal for him to be on US soil.... Its an interesting topic. It can definitely be non-relatives though, there is no requirement on that part. What this makes me wonder is if you can assign another type of entity to the trust - like a corporation. Could you put your gun range as a trustee? Or some other group? A charity organization? so that ownership falls to them if something happens to you. No idea on that. Note i'm not a lawyer by any stretch, just basing what I said on how I understand the laws.
  23. that's what she said! but definitely the boresnakes are way easier on rifles. on pistols, its still brush time
  24. you need to stop buying them 2 sizes too small
  25. the only way I'd be buying a suppressor locally is if it was manufactured locally.
