  1. The DHS wants slugs and buckshot. They won't be hunting deer and hogs. They'll be hunting civilians, come on, what else would they shoot at with that stuff.
  2. A good thing to remember is that the USA has the highest corporate taxes in the world. That means, profits that General Motors makes by making and selling cars in China, do not come back to the USA. If those profits came back to the USA, they would be taxed at approximately 21%. This means, the USA/General Motors is not merely exporting jobs, it is also exporting profits. Shame.
  3. I would like to see what they could do with a guy swinging an LR308 with an HBAR barrel
  4. Is the weight savings worth the trouble? This is a carbine-length FF tube (7.25" long) and aluminum, so that part is probably pretty light already. I have a 16" HBAR barrel so that may be where the most weight is.
  5. Shepp, Yeah, the thing looks like it's probably threaded and would come off with a strap wrench. The diameter of the free-float tube is 2.27 inches. Does this mean I would be using a different barrel nut with a different foregrip and that's where the weight savings would be?
  6. Shepp, That was a good idea. I found my stock free-float tube here. Unfortunately, no weight is given. I suppose I could remove the durn thing and weigh it, but I can't see how the thing was installed, much less how to take it off.
  7. Any idea what the weight is of the foregrip on this? It's what I have... http://www.dpmsinc.com/LR-308T_ep_127-1.html Since the weight is 9.75 lbs, maybe I shouldn't complain. But it sure feels heavier than that.
  8. Open sights and both eyes totally rocks.

  10. You using a JP RE2? Or the Cooley brake?
  11. Should a guy that crazy be allowed to have firearms? A left-wing Liberal Progressive doctor might have concerns and contact ObamaCare authorities.

    Militia

A gentle reminder: April 19 is Patriot's Day, when US civilian militia engaged British troops. With 'assault rifles'. http://patriotpost.us/alexander/24924
  13. About 7 miles from here, in the next town over, this happened a year and a half ago. This guy is cleaning his guns. In the living room. The kids are in the living room. One of the kids picks up a pistol and fires it. The round goes clean into the back of mommy's head, killing her instantly. There's a mixed message there. Yeah, unload before cleaning. But yeah, if you have something chambered, keep the kids away. The kid that shot his mom is gonna feel like dog poop for the rest of his days.

    Militia

Here in Iowa, the State Constitution has no protection for gun ownership or use. We have a law which makes all military training illegal unless approved by the governor. Just from nosing around here and there on the internet, it looks like the Iowa Militia is way underground and maybe has a dozen guys. Iowa doesn't even have NRA shooting competitions. There's lots of gun ownership, though, and you can figure there's a loaded shotgun near the front door of anyone's house you visit. Or at least you should. But gun ownership is completely taken for granted, it's like like having screwdrivers in your house, big deal, a gun's just another tool. So I gotta pretty much watch this from the sidelines. Not much going on around here.

  16. Does this mean wild pigs make good bratwurst? Yummy. Boil 'em in beer and fire up the grill!
  17. Gotta wonder how these wild pigs are for flavor/texture compared to farm pigs.
  18. I do all my shopping for air stuff at Pyramyd Air. They have excellent customer service. http://www.pyramydair.com/
  19. Don't be a dumbass!
  20. Iowa accepts that 'online buffoonery' for its CCW class. There's exactly zero training on shoot/no shoot. Nothing on self defense, when to retreat, defense of property, defense of others, etc. It's pretty bad.
  21. It may well be that Lincoln's reputation is more important than what he actually did.
  22. I seriously have to wonder what the outcome would have been here, if the police were required to use the same Rules of Engagement for US soldiers stationed in Iraq. From what little I understand of the ROE, the result would have been, 'no shoot'.
  23. There was a time when I was briefly on teaching staff at a university. I had an office and everything, and I'd crash at the office instead of driving home after partying just a bit too much. So I'm there in the office building after night lockup, all by myself, and so one night I go exploring. It occurs to me to check out the women's lavatories. First thing, they are bigger than the men's. They had couches in them, and magazine racks. They were set up as hangouts! I was amazed at what they wrote on the walls -- what professors were 'hot', which ones had a really big schlong, which ones could last all night, it was totally amazing. These women professors wrote stuff -- personal stuff -- on the walls that you never see in the men's john, and it's totally graphic. If you guys think guys write amazing stuff on the walls of the men's room, the women have you totally beat. My gosh.
