  1. I think I just went a little heavier on the coat on the rails so ended up different. It's stripped now anyways so back to spraying and baking later this evening.
  2. If you've got not budget but still worried about mixing parts etc, then have you considered purchasing a complete rifle like an LMT, LaRue or something similar from a premium custom manufacturer? >:D
  3. Being your first build, I think you're going overboard from a budget perspective. You've picked a lot of premium parts and from my personal experience, their costs don't add up when you consider the variability within you (yes, you) to shoot within 1 MOA consistently. You oughtta ask yourself, "how good is good enough" then plan around that. Sorry man... just a reality check to think about. :) BTW, low mass carrier on a 308? Uh it's not worth the weight savings to deal with the added recoil, especially if you're going with a carbine-length extension with the heavy UBR. Not sure where you really want to go with the build. So many contradicting requirements (e.g. heavy barrel, and lightweight parts).
  4. Yeah, it came out semi-gloss even though the paint used was from the same mixed batch. I have to make them match since it's for a customer.
  5. 24:1 ... still scratching my head.
  6. Don't know man.....especially when you seemed interested in the 300 AAC match ammo that was priced more than the 308 FGMM ammo. Ridiculous, I know. I shoot FGMM for the brass. I've done 7-8 reloads on them and they keep working consistently. PPU 168gr 308 HPBT - $14 AE 308 168gr OTM is out of stock....
  7. Here, happy now?
  8. Want mine? LOL
  9. Done. Not sure why the handguard came out semi-gloss even though it was the same batch of cerakote. Perhaps I put down too much. Guess I have to redo it.
  10. There, happy now?
  11. I really gotta calibrate the Eliminator II scope for the 300 AAC. Would be tons of fun. :)
  12. They could ship you one of their Swedish blonde chicks over to fix them on-location. <laughs> <lmao>
  13. Why the 150? Doesn't that mess up your optic aimpoints? (i.e. that XPS2-300 you've been drooling over).
  14. Takes one to know one. <lmao> <laughs>
  15. How do you define "good" 308? I have a small lot of FGMM 175gr (7.62x51) available ($24/box) and a little less FGMM 175gr (308) available. That's about the only factory crap I shoot so that's why I stock them. I have an automated notifcation on Rem UMC 300 BLK (115 and 220) when they come back in stock. Dealer has a lot of Rem Match 300 AAC 125gr OTM and I can match the price above if we can do caseloads (10 boxes/case). Not sure if they are worth the money when the UMC's are cheaper (when in stock) and perform pretty cosistently. Barnes 300 AAC Tac-TX 110gr in stock....almost the same price as the Rem match. I've also got some Rem UMC 300 AAC 220gr subs left - not much left since I sold some of them to a walk-in and we use them to test fire. Lemme see what else I can get that is in stock.... Hornady 300 AAC 110gr VMAX in stock but I don't recommend them (remember the overpressure signs I mentioned on Sunday) Remington Hog Hammer 300 AAC 110gr TSX. Jamison 300 AAC (anyone even interested in this poop?) Good 308... Lapua ? LOL
  16. A bug flew into my FDE lower last night AFTER I had just gotten it sprayed. Had to redo. Tonight it was wife+kids messing up my chi while I was loading the patriot brown parts into oven..... had to redo again.
  17. Are they ITAR controlled items? I could sell you some but I don't want to get in trouble with the law, much less do all the necessary paperwork for the export.
  18. Baking tonight. Patriot Brown cookies!
  19. I've got an upper and a handguard in the oven right now, both patriot brown. 1:45 to go.
  20. Nothing to prove. I've painted my share of cars and car parts.
  21. Gonna steal your idea and put it on my lowers. :D
  22. I think it helped when I learned to paint with a spray gun a few years ago when I had the M3 and my wife destroyed 2 of my bumpers. Yes, TWO.
  23. No you don't. You need 25-rounders. <laughs>
  24. That just means that DiFi can't come after it and take it away from me now. <laughs>
