  1. Derp... My bad...I should have better read it. The PEPR is good but I found that the additional top rail mount is a little high if you want to put a mini RDS on it. I have my RDS mounted, angled 45 degrees to the right using a weaver scope mount. Using the RDS is easier since I can maintain my cheek weld and just tilt the rifle slightly to the left. With the top mounted RDS, I had to lift my head off the cheek weld to use it. If you're trying to hit long range targets, a mount with a 20 MOA angle will give you some additional elevation. If you're not intending to mount/unmount the scope at all ,I'd recommend the Nikon M-Series XR range (they now come in 1" and 30mm sizes). They cost under $90 and come with a 20 MOA cant, but the only drawback is you cannot unmount it and re-mount it without needing to re-zero. I'm currently running a weaver 20moa riser with Leupold QRW "low" 30mm rings so I can switch stuff around quickly without needing a re-zero.
  2. Yep, but only a little... not lubing the inside enough I suppose.
  3. I used to race R/C cars when I was a kid. Gas R/C. When mom was not around, I'd pull out an empty R/C fuel container (1 gal bottles of Nitromethanol), put a hole in the top plastic cap, and screw in a glow plug. I then connected a good length of wire to the glow plug to make sure I was out of range, then connect the battery to the wires. KABOOM!! The fun and games ended when I blew up some of my dad's bonsai collection, and also several windows from the shrapnel. LOL Perhaps why I was sent to demolition school in the military as part of my recon training.
  4. Ouch... road rash to the nuts!
  5. Ah... I should try that too. I'm currently spraying the Hornady stuff into the sizing die every couple of rounds.
  6. I'd recommend the DPMS Recon over the sportical or oracle... much better overall.
  7. Some call me crazy but I'm not insane enough to do that to a .308.
  8. Lemme see if I can work a group buy since I know the guy(s). :)

    FNG

Welcome from AZ. We all have to start somewhere!
  10. Got everything set up and running. Reloaded about 15 rounds with 175SMK + CFE223 (46.2gr) + Fed 210 primer. Taking my time to ensure consistency (COAL = 71.12 mm = 2.8") Brass should be pretty good. FGMM, Remington Premier and Lake City NATO brass. Question - how much force on the lever is required for a full length sizer + deprimer? I'm pushing down quite hard and pulling up with almost the same amount of force, even with lubed up rounds. Wondering if it's the die (Lee Pacesetter).
  11. Heh... they came to me asking me to help with manufacturing some of their parts...I was on a gag order for some time. :D They have a great product. I'm hoping it catches on. The trigger actually does a hard reset and pushes your finger out/forward. Keep pressure on the trigger and it fires like an auto with the trigger kicking your finger back in between shots.
  12. The parts of concern will be the piston system plus the custom piston bolt carrier. Other than that, it is a simple chassis, but since it's new, I don't think you'll get a lot of feedback about reliability. Perhaps you can volunteer to be the labrat!
  13. More greetings from AZ!
  14. I'm just burnt out on 5.56... especially after the military, even though it's been over 20 years.... LOL Scored 2 lbs of CFE223 and one lbs IMR4064!. Let the fun begin...
  15. LOL CMMG. I'm happy with mine tho.

    Ruger SR-762

Seen a couple of them in person... looks rather decent! (...but I'm not a fan of 16" .308 barrels)
  17. Crap... the big stores all don't have any powder in stock... I'll have to look around. Too late now. :(
  18. I'm primarily 308. Screw the 5.56 - that's what I take to the range for the kids to shoot. I'll probably put in a light load in them to minimize the recoil.

    Ruger SR-762

It qualifies IMO, just like the Sig 716.... :)
  20. Hmmm... maybe I should FDE the cheapo used AR15 that I just picked up.
  21. Yeah, already compared the vids of the RCBS 2000, the Hornady AP and the Dillon (they really piecemeal that one - didn't like that too much). 308's are first of course! Probably followed by 5.56 and 9mm luger. OK gotta question... are primers generally interchangeable? CCI 200/BR2? Federal 210? Winchester WLR? Powder wise I'm probably going with Varget or CFE223 depending on what I can find in stock. They seem to hide all the powders somewhere in the stores... can't find any on the shelves. LOL
  22. HURRY!!! Ends Sunday! Amazon probably started taxing us in AZ because they have a distribution center in town...but I don't recall them applying sales tax last year! I'm already polishing my brass on the mid-size tumbler that I "stole" from my shop....now for the next phase - how to set it up stealth-like so the wife no yell at me for spending more $.
  23. Gonna stop this single/progressive thing right now! Picked up the Hornady L&L AP from Sportsman's after work. So there. Good price too, especially considering they're having a 0% tax week. At $439.99 and 0 tax, the price was better than Amazon+tax ($443) !! ....and I blame Wash for enabling... P.S. Since when did amazon start charging tax.....
  24. We need to bring back the sonic blaster! Hmmm some 3" PVC pipe should work. LOL
  25. That was a good read. I just picked up a box of 100 Sierra SMK 175gr and a set of dies (Lee Pacesetter with the separate factory crimp die) at lunch from Bass Pro.
