  1. Perhaps a custom bolt catch to hold the mag higher may work.... just a thought. If that were the case, I'd try putting a small bead of steel on the top of the bolt catch, then grind it down to flatten/square it off, grind some off the bottom. Worst case scenario, I destroy one bolt catch.
  2. Damm I'm fat. Gotta go hit the trails on the bike again...
  3. ^^^ yup.. robocop's right. Get a matching buffer/spring/tube set and make sure the spring/buffer is meant for a 308 (the 308 buffers are about 3/4" shorter than their AR15 counterparts). I'd also switch out the retaining detent since it's bent. I've seen some buffer tubes with a notch for the detent but others work fine without (most rifle length tubes are not notched while the carbine length ones are). Some carbine length buffer tubes have a slight profile at the edge to match the receiver too. This is because the carbine tubes have to be lined up "one way" while the rifle tubes do not have an orientation associated with it. The notch and profile help the alignment.
  4. Odd... them PMAGS work flawlessly in my CMMG. Wondering what's different and how much tolerances are off by.....
  5. KRYLON! For the win! Friend is supposed to be putting his "newly acquired" cerakoating equipment in my shop... can't wait to get it online.
  6. +1 for BUTTERS!
  7. Thanks! It still shot decent even with a basic boresight job and no real zeroing. I was expecting it to be all over the place.
  8. Looks like the wrong buffer tube could have been used. The Armalite pattern comes with a longer buffer tube and the LR damage looks like BCG overtravel due to the wrong buffer tube/buffer/spring combination.
  9. Ten dorra? Including castle nut.
  10. Much fun was had by all! Glad to have been able to make it out there.
  11. See you guys in the AM. Picking up Mike then heading down south.
  12. I have an extra mil-spec tube lying around... also a Magpul ACS in black
  13. Depends on the lower receiver. Some 308's have a different radius on the section between the grip and the buffer tube. If the grip has an upper curved backstrap area, it leaves a gap. This isn't true of all 308 lower receivers. The CMMG will accept a standard AR15 grip like the Magpul MOE, and MIAD. BTW, the MOE+ is nice.
  14. Too late... was at Texas Roadhouse earlier and I now have major runs/squirts.
  15. No real prep on the barrel - some steel wool then cleaned off with acetone before spraying. Gas block is a cheapie aluminum gas block that came with the beater so the paint stuck on OK. I got a lo-pro gas block in my parts bin but was too lazy to put it on. It's the beater anyhow, I expect to get it chipped up etc, maybe later repaint with more Krylon and try to do a desert MARPAT camo on it.
  16. Got 3 bottles (1 lbs) of 4064, two of CFE223 and two Varget. Did some reloads with CFE223, gonna find out how it does on Sunday!
  17. Where we meeting at? CG range? or that Marana place? Time? I'm coming from Queen Creek/Gilbert/Chandler - I should have space for a couple more in my truck. ......gonna see if I can borrow my buddy's 50bmg,
  18. Soooo...... can I come?
  19. It should work fine. The hammer spring isn't that light.
  20. Yup! Tried Rustoleum Cinnamon but that turned out too reddish.
  21. ...may I ask how much the scope ran? Is it FFP or SFP? -S
  22. Got bored over Xmas break and gave the beater a makeover with the Bushnell 1-4 FFP scope and a more desert friendly color. Before: After:
  23. I should, but I'm all "scoped out". Kids sucked me dry over xmas! Out sick for a while but at least got my :) -S
  24. More greetings from AZ!
