  1. Important note about magnesium. Magnesium alloys are known to form microcracks over time, especially in high-stress situations. The pro race teams that I used to work with typically used ultralight magnesium wheels for about 5000 miles and then toss them out for recycling because of this. Just putting this out there. Not sure how much mileage you'd get out of magnesium receivers but I'd be weary. ....and I'd love to see a magnesium upper burn. WOOT!
  2. Yeah, pretty much all the big sporting goods stores are dry. Bass Pro just got in Winchester 168gr HPBT Match rounds but at $39.99/20 box that's insane since Federal GMM 175's are under $30/box when/if you can find them at the stores. In hindsight, I should have picked up more FGMM 175's at sportsman's when they were available.
  3. Beautiful.... I gotta get me an M1A/M14 one of these days.
  4. i got 6 weeks coming up late november... WOOT!
  5. Yeah, the Federal XM80C's are available in 1000rd boxes at $854.99 at Sportsman's warehouse. Too bad they aren't the XM118LR. In my shooting tests, I found the XM80C's a little underpowered.
  6. I read something similar somewhere so that's why I wasn't too happy when I found mine loose. Wonder if it's something to do with the barrel nut...maybe you're right about the assembly bit. Mine came with the wrong bolt catch but they quickly replaced that.
  7. So, 400-500 rounds from brand new, I noticed my CMMG's float tube was loose while cleaning it earlier. Took a closer look and noticed it was the barrel nut that was working loose. Pulled the float tube and the gas block+gas tube and it was hand tight but I could unscrew the barrel nut by hand. %^@#$&^@#% Torqued it back down with proper tools and put everything back together... Hoping it stays that way. Maybe this will explain some of my inconsistencies. -S P.S. Sorry... just had to gripe.
  8. ^^^^ this. (corrected) :D
  9. I've been eyeing a Rem 700 LA for a while... just gotta decide what to get...338 lapua? 300WM? I'm leaning towards 300WM....
  10. Nice!
  11. I hate palm trees. They need too much attention and upkeep.
  12. Shoot a face into the pumpkins with a 22LR. Problem solved.

None taken... love to hear both sides. ... being a legal immigrant, don't get me started on illegal immigration (and the stupid path to legalization/amnesty)... BTW, I'm married to whitey (she's from TN) and she has some medical issues so insurance premiums are @$#^#!@%# insane.
  14. ^^^^ problem solved!!
  15. One question - save yourself the headache and buy a complete rifle? No?
  16. One sec... what if I get a hold of a non-threaded barrel 220 and we swap barrels....? No point wasting a nice threaded barrel by cutting it down and re-crowning it. ....already know where to pick up the P220 from... :D

Not saying that someone has to work for free to provide the healthcare... the single payer (i.e. the gub'mint) will cover that.

Well these are my thoughts (generally) Healthcare should be a right granted to everyone, thus the single payer system. The government should provide an essential level of healthcare to cover the needs of everyone. Go to any doc you want, everything is subsidized centrally ($5-$15 copays!). Docs get paid, people get the healthcare they need. However if you opt for a "better level" of healthcare and you have the means to do so, then by all means go find some superstar doc that is paid privately. Don't tie healthcare to business benefits. Businesses have other things to worry about and they can focus on that instead if their workers are healthy! We did study the US healthcare system in some depth (economics class) while I was in college (back in Singapore) and it seemed to me, from the data, that insurance is the main factor driving up the healthcare costs. Because the cost to the patient is just a deductible, the healthcare providers are able to jack up their prices without the patient (customer) feeling the pinch! Assuming that healthcare costs go to a single-payer system run by non-profit government agency, will they stand by and deal with such insane prices set by the healthcare providers? No, they will set up some form of schedule which determines what is reasonable (e.g. cold/cough/flu - $100, wellness checkups - $120, broken arm $2000....you get the idea). At that point, let capitalism take over - the money is there and so if the docs want to provide the service at the specified cost they are free to enter the trade... otherwise they leave and find something else to do. I know it's hard to tie efficiency and government in the same sentence....then again who will manage the centralized healthcare system? -S

I know many here will disagree with me, but growing up in a country with single payer healthcare that worked very well, I find it disappointing that such essential services in this country are open up to for-profit organizations (i.e. HMO, etc) Just my honest thoughts and comments. Gonna go back to my hiding hole to escape the flames. -S
  21. Thanks guys... think I'll order some HSM ones from Selway and see how they stack up against the Federals. BTW, am I the only one that finds Hornady ammo to be inconsistent?
  22. I had been picking up FGMM 175gr HPBT's from Sportsman's Warehouse regularly and they've suddenly dried up. Any one else have any success finding 175gr HPBT at a reasonable** price right now? (** I'm considering reasonable being $1.30-$1.40/round since each box costs $26.99) Thoughts on the XM117LR? Other alternatives, although I'm partial to Federal.....? Thanks -S
  23. :hethan: Like I said, this is one of the very best forums I've been on. Great job guys!
