  1. I recently bought a PSA 9mm carrier to convert my Diamondback AR pistol to 9mm, while I did run into an occasional round that didn't chamber most did and all those fired every time - the carrier is factory ramped from PSA, perhaps they sell both ramped and unramped varieties. I'm suspecting the chambering issues I'm having may be related to the Promag Adapter or the ASC mags that I am using <dontknow>
  2. Does that Strike Industries dust cover have an adjustment on the detent under the spring? I recall seeing that feature on a AR15 poly dust cover (Don't remember the brand) awhile back.
  3. Update: revised link, http://www.surplusammo.com/saa-billet-lr-308-dpms-style-upper-receiver-assembled/ Bought one and upon inspection, confirmed that yes it is a DPMS low profile design and as "breaststroker" mentioned The takedown pin hole is WAY too big (by around .025") Looks like the hole was opened up to save a run of uppers that had the takedown pin hole mis-located- Contemplating pressing an aluminum plug in the takedown pin hole and re-drilling it on a CNC mill - otherwise still a bargain at $109.99
  4. I found them while searching for a set of 7.62 x 39 gauges - I was after a complete set with a Field gauge and most suppliers only had Go and No Go in that caliber. They seem more established with the AK builders. My SAA 16" 7.62 x 39 Barrel and Yankee Hill Bolt headspaced correctly on their gauges - Go fit, No Go and Field wouldn't chamber and it shoots very well :)
  5. One of the lighter .308's I've seen was built by Salt Works Rifles - 7.7 lbs http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showpost.php?p=15813564&postcount=35 https://www.saltworksrifles.com/default.asp
  6. I know it's a bit of a late reply but, Toth Tool has 7.62 NATO and 5.56 NATO Headspace Gauges (Go, No Go, and Field) available (7.62 x 39 as well) http://www.tothtool.com/Gauges_c_11.html
  7. They do seem to offer a nice variety of calibers - we need to find out more about them <thumbsup>
  8. Also, make sure the BCG, the barrel extension and the inside of the upper are lubed up real well, if they are dry you can run into problems like you are describing - mobil 1 worked well for me <thumbsup> edit: check the chamber to be sure there isn't any dried up machining oil or residue from manufacturing causing it to be to tight.
  9. See if this helps: or this: Hopefully that will resolve this - now let's keep this thread on topic!
  10. 15% off at SLR Rifleworks - Code: 1776
  11. Any word on the Mech Armor stuff?
  12. Do you have a "conventional" (PC) mouse with a left and right button? if not, try one or you can use the apple keyboard commands: "Command C = Copy" "Command V = Paste" So, just copy the "http://_______________" and then paste it into your post.
  13. ***TEST*** http://aresarmor.com/store/ did this from safari on my mac pro at work - click on the url to highlight it then right click, select copy then in the post you are composing, right click, select paste and you should have a working link when you post it. <thumbsup>
  14. Yep, 338 Fed - Gonna be pretty awesome 98! http://www.ammoland.com/2013/05/hunting-the-dpms-panther-arms-lr-338l-rifle/#axzz3eJXx7bgm
  15. Looks like maybe a larger caliber - 338 Federal ? <dontknow>
  16. Had my eye on the Matrix stuff for quite a while now, at this price I finally had to "pull the trigger" on a set! <thumbsup>
  17. Something New from SAA - House Brand DPMS Type 308 upper - not sure who's making these, doesn't look like the Aero type upper design since it has a more conventional 308 F/A location (Doesn't require the notched carrier) complete with F/A and ejection port door - on sale for 24hrs or while supplies last $99.99 http://www.surplusammo.com/saa-billet-308-upper-receiver-24HR/
  18. Depends on the lower, My Ares lowers have the takedown pin spring and detent hole drilled and threaded in the standard AR15 location - under the end plate, retained by a small (#4-40) set screw with a standard length spring, no spacer. :)
  19. Have you got the BCG and chamber oiled up real good?
  20. Just got an email special from them - looks like a great deal $450.00 off http://www.westforkarmory.com/advanced-armament-corp/1398-aac-mpw-300blk-16-blk-urx-rail-30rd.html
  21. Ya need a different bolt or complete BCG to troubleshoot any further or try your Bolt/BCG in a different barrel/upper assembly - if you were further south, (I'm just north of the San Fernando Valley) I'd invite you over to swap some parts around to narrow things down.
  22. Did you get this instruction sheet with your headspace gages? Forster Headspace PDF.pdf As it says in the instructions "If a rifle closes on a NO-Go gage it may have excessive headspace. If a rifle closes on a NO-GO gage, it may still be within the SAAMI Rifle Chamber Tolerance. Next, it should be checked with a FIELD gage."
  23. Very Cool! Good Job <thumbsup>
  24. I think this would be the appropriate carry handle for the large frame AR: http://www.jsesurplus.com/dpmsdetachablecarryhandlewitha2rearsightlr-308.aspx I picked up a used one and installed it on my 16" barreled 308 build:
  25. The Matrix 7.62 upper uses a barrel nut with the Armalite AR10 thread size - the handguard is likely different from the Matrix AR15 though.
