  12. @edgecrusher, Tom at Oly Arms had no problem selling a .45 6.5" pistol barrel - cost me around $200.00 - 98 has been extremely helpful with coming up with specs on modifying a standard upper to accommodate the Oly ejector system (Espring) - pretty easy stuff to do, makes it easy and more cost effective to get the upper you are looking for.
  13. My Oly Arms/CNC Guns Project is steadily moving forward - was able to "pull some strings" and have mags sent to my FFL, Have the upper almost ready - just waiting on $ for a BCG, Almost done with a "fixed mag" mag catch that requires the upper to be cracked open to release the mag, My FFL (07) has made arrangements with justin @CNC to engrave my FFL's info so he can "manufacture" it under his brand - nice to see this project finally coming together Anyone else got any cool Oly Arms builds in the works? Just caught this update from Oly Arms: http://www.olyarms.com/ "Press Release 7-28-2017 Thank you all for your years of patronage, and for continuing your interest with Olympic Arms. As time moves forward, we’d like to update our customers and followers with the latest information regarding the changes here at Olympic Arms. First of all, we’d like to apologize for any confusion that currently may exist. Circumstances since our original announcement made January 2017 have changed, and remain fluid. During this period of change, we’d like to assure you that Olympic Arms remains open and active, and that you may continue to purchase with confidence. Current market trends are forcing a restructuring of operations and an inevitable downsizing. However, at this time our full intent is to continue uninterrupted operations and pursue a variety of options that allow us to move forward continuing our innovation in the AR15 industry, and the possible expansion into other arenas within the industry. No paths are off-limits to our consideration. You may have heard or understood that Olympic Arms is in the process of entertaining offers for the sale or restructuring of the company. This too is accurate. Some offers being considered include the complete transfer of ownership of Olympic Arms, while others may include a reorganization and moving forward with the same or similar management. At this time, we are not certain which outcome will prevail, so we continue to move forward with the utmost optimism. It is probable that whatever solution is found, Olympic Arms will relocate within the next calendar year. This relocation will likely be a local move, but if the company is sold as entire entity, this decision will be made at that time, and every effort will be made to offer continued service to our entire customer base." Thank you again for all your kind words, emails and phone calls of support during this challenging time. We will do our best to keep you posted as things progress. Sounds encouraging
  14. So, everything is moving forward, Lower should arrive tomorrow, Barrel/BCG on order, upper cut for ejector and parts installed - Now I got a problem with mags, Keep Shooting who previously confirmed that they would ship to my 07 FFL Buddy (that can legally take delivery of >10 round mags and limit them to 10 rounds) now has gone back on their word and won't send them here so, I gotta find a source that will either ship to my FFL or pin them to 10 and sell/ship directly to me - anyone have any suggestions?
  15. Awesome!! That's what I needed to see - Shouldn't be too much trouble, I'll grab it in the mill vise on the bridgeport with these: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/740625/wheeler-engineering-delta-series-upper-receiver-action-block-and-picatinny-rail-vise-block-ar-15-ar-10-lr-308 http://www.ebay.com/itm/NO-M-A-R-AR15-AR10-308-223-Upper-Receiver-Vise-Block-Gunsmith-Barrel-Nut-Tool-/122582358834?hash=item1c8a7a5b32:g:QyMAAOSwstxVSlhr Check it for level, find center on the pivot pin bore and dial in the hole locations from there Looks like the arm on the "Espring" gets a workout - wonder what the life expectancy is? probably should get 1/2 dozen spares to future proof this deal
  16. What are your thoughts on buffers for this setup, I've seen some real heavy AR45 buffers (7.5oz and 10oz) made by New Frontier Armory and I think Kaw Valley - do you feel this is necessary or helpful on the Oly Arms stuff?
  17. That would be awesome!! I've alreadt got a few spare parts including an Ejector spring parts kit :http://www.olyarms.com/shop/diy-worskshop/ar-15-parts-pistol-cal/pc28.html so I'm ready to modify the upper, order a BCG and hopefully a barrel and, I think it would be smart to get a couple more spares (ejectors, extractors, firing pins and perhaps a spare complete bolt assy) - My FFL has been in contact with Justin @CNCGuns and for a small fee he is willing to engrave my FFL's Name,City and State on a 100% lower so he can legally manufacture it under his brand. It will have to have a plug in the receiver extension location, a block in the mag well as well as fabricating a device similar to an "AR Mag Lock" or a "Patriot Mag Release" to make it first a "break top single shot pistol" then after I take delivery of it a "fixed 10 round mag semi auto config" what a pain in the A$$!! Thanks again for your help 98
  18. Right on! Thanks 98, I owe you one @sketch, Hmmm I grew up in bellevue, was last there visiting in '08 things have really changed since the '70s but I still miss the northwest, you're tempting me! Now, to find out if they'll sell a barrel? I know they sell just the BCG - I'll keep you guys posted on the progress - this one should move along pretty good!
  19. @sketch, yea - I' guess I'll take the necro of the year award Olympic is still going last I checked (said they are going through a "transition" period - new owners taking over and the future isn't exactly certain). My 07FFL buddy says he can build me a cali registered single shot .45ACP pistol, my understanding is that after I take delivery of it, I can legally convert it to a fixed 10 round semi auto config and it would be considered "amateur gunsmithing" and thus legal as long as I keep it in compliance with the f@#&ed up laws we have to deal with here http://www.olyarms.com/
  20. @98, I need some info on the Olympic Arms stuff, Would it be difficult to build a AR45 upper based on the Olympic Arms barrel and BCG but put in/on an Aero stripped upper that has no forward assist provision - my only area of concern is the ejector assembly, I haven't been able to get much info on it and I'm not sure how the upper is machined to accommodate it - also it appears your pics aren't available anymore? Thanks Brother
  21. These guys have one of the better deals going on an Aero Stripped M5 lower: http://www.schuylerarmsco.com/product.m5-308-stripped-lower-receiver-10-993
  22. Welcome from California, feel free to introduce yourself here: https://forum.308ar.com/forum/33-rock-river-arms-lar-8/ This thread hit a "dead end" - long story - might be a good idea to post in this section: https://forum.308ar.com/forum/33-rock-river-arms-lar-8/ I'm not sure what the RRA barrel nut thread is - it may be unique to that brand - there are a few here familiar with that platform that should be able to shed some light on things
  23. The Fed XM193 I've decapped has been stamped LC, the last two digits of the year and the NATO cross - takes some effort but I just knock them out on the Rock Chucker
  24. Not related to the mag restriction but, another screwup by the Cali DOJ, seems they missed the deadline to publish regulations to setup the new ammo vendor licensing program: http://mailchi.mp/53e3e03976ba/doj-misses-ammo-regulation-deadline?e=7f0381ea75 Will require background checks for each ammo purchase, state will keep a database of who has what, ammo bought at ranges must be used at the range, etc - Totally Absurd!! Apparently the state was expecting the FBI to allow the use of their background check system ((NICS?) and the feds told them to pound sand
  25. PSA has real federal XM193 for $5.99/20 round box until 7/10 - that's less than $150 for 500 rounds http://palmettostatearmory.com/federal-xm193f-brown-box-5-56mm-55gr-fmj.html?trk_msg=B3M11U4BS4F4322BBSUPC91T9G&trk_contact=HMTHL2U06RG3UM3NOES2L5E5N8&trk_sid=A2R0OPCQ6E4DE1JL1O9BCV45C0&utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=http%3a%2f%2fpalmettostatearmory.com%2ffederal-xm193f-brown-box-5-56mm-55gr-fmj.html&utm_campaign=Daily+Deal+Email&utm_content=11%3a00+Email
